We go to sumo for the sushi for the most part. The fish is extremely fresh, there isn't a ton of extra white rice and they have plenty of variety that allows for both my husband and I to order rolls to "try" or share. Although, let's be honest -- we just order 3 rolls each and try one piece. The service is very quick and all the servers are nice. I have gone once for the hibachi experience and I enjoyed that as well. Will come again!

Service: terrible. The wait staff was slow, rude, pushy, and they kept staring at our group for no apparent reason.Food: The worst hibachi I've had. Like, have you ever had to take your fried rice home to re-fry it with seasoning?Price: NAH. Y'all are trippin because why am I paying such a high amount for small portions of tasteless food? Oh, and they charge for everything. You want double fried rice instead of rice and noodles? Charge. Oh, you want to get a hibachi kids veggie meal for your vegetarian child? We're charging you for chicken. I would never come back here.

Not very clean inside and the bathrooms were particularly dirty. The strip mall that it's in is pretty rundown and under construction. The food was okay but really basic and not great. The fried rice was hard, the chicken was dry. However, the steak was cooked well in front of everyone during the hibachi service. There are better hibachi options and I will not be back! They really need to work on cleanliness.

Same waitstaff for years. Clean, with fresh, high quality ingredients. If you go alone you order from the menu and sit at regular tables. The hibachi tables seat around 8 people so you sit with other parties. You may have to wait for other people to arrive before the chef starts cooking on a grill in the table. The food is delicious and we always have lots of leftovers.

This place is empty and full of shit. Went there to order my son sushi and the man that makes the sushi had no customers except one couple at a table. The man said wait 30 minutes for me to get 2 orders of sushi. I have been to Nobu and Sakuras Benihana's etc shit even Quickway and never have I had to wait that long for sushi. When I say this place is empty it was completely nobody there. Oh and they were out of crab meat. They are going out of business I can tell but it's because of their staff. Honestly the woman who answered didn't understand much English. But the woman at the sushi bar watching the man make sushi doing absolutely nothing spoke English good. I have never experienced such bad service. My 6 year old left crying we went down the street to Akasaka Hibachi #Queen they get 1 star for answering the phone fast.

First time eating here and it was awesome. The inside was pretty spacious, and they followed good covid protocols. Our hibachi chef was so funny and energetic. He made sure we all had an enjoyable experience and cooked up some great food.I ordered the Scallops and Filet Mignon for my entree and it was cooked perfectly. I wish the filet mignon was richer in flavor but the man is on a mission to feed multiple people very quickly so I can't fault him. My scallops tasted good. MVP was the yum yum sauce. Like, it made every bite better. Our servers were also on point and made sure the drinks were refilled and everyone had what they needed to enjoy the meal (forks/chopsticks). I want to try their sushi one day since my SO told me it's pretty good.

Looking for great Japanese food in Manassas? Look no further! Sumo offers a wide variety of freshly made top notch sushi as well as all the hibachi favorites made to order with a show as fun as any of the big chains and food that's definitely a notch above. We usually opt for the hibachi specials because who doesn't like dinner and a show? It's a fun time watching food being flipped and turned, the chef creates an onion volcano that spits fire into the air and you'll even have the chance to catch a bite or two. You get a full meal including soup, salad, veggies, noodles, rice and your protein of choice. They have everything from filet mignon to scallops plus everything else.

The service and setting was great; however, the food was a bit overcooked and undercooked. My partner and I got the tempura, filet mignon/shrimp/scallop hibachi combo, and the filet mignon/lobster hibachi combo. The tempura was undercooked slightly where the batter was a bit mushy and seemed like it wasn't fried enough and the sweet potato was a bit hard; nonetheless, it was such a small portion of the meal. On to the hibachi, we asked for our meat medium rare and it was not and the seafood was overcooked. I don't mean to sound harsh, but I am being honest. It's just terrible that for that price it should've been well worth the money spent with quality temperature control.
