Really cute spot inside union market. They offer several unique flavor profiles, and I appreciate how they don't offer too much variety, because that's how you can feel overwhelmed when choosing! You're also able to adjust just how much Boba or lychee jelly or how sweet you want your drink to be, making each beverage super tailored to your taste! Service is fast and everyone seems nice.

DRINKSSpot of Tea is a charming, mom-and-pop bubble tea shop located in Union Market. We tried the black sesame milk with lychee jelly, which had a unique flavor that might be an acquired taste for some. The sesame flavor was enjoyable, but the texture of the black sesame sediment was a bit too thick and lingered in the throat more than expected, causing me to cough a few times (though to be expected; just not my preference). I think it would be better to enjoy in smoothie/milkshake form.SERVICEOrdering is straightforward and efficient via a self-checkout kiosk.AMBIANCELocated within a bustling food hall, there's plenty of seating available inside and outside the venue. It can get quite lively during meal hours, and Union Market is a popular spot even on weekdays.PARKINGAmple parking is available in the lot near Union Market. However, be cautious and keep valuables out of sight, as break-ins are known to happen in the area.

The menu had too many good options and I wish I could come here all the time to get through the entire menu. During this trip, we tried the ube milk and the mango yuzu black tea. Both with boba of course. The ube milk was made with real ube so it was starchy like a potato, thick like a watered down milk shake, and really delicious. It wasn't sweet to me, it felt like a dessert vs a drink. The real winner was the mango yuzu black tea. It was also made with real mango fruit puree and tasted like a mango fruit leather. Bursting with flavor from the mango and had a zing from the yuzu, it was the perfect drink for the warmer weather outside. The boba was also so soft and chewy. This was a true boba place. And it was literally ran by one guy. If I lived in DC, this would be my go to boba drink place for sure.

This vanilla taro is absolutely DELICIOUS!!! Taro is my fav boba tea flavor and damn, they really doing something out here with the vanilla add-on. The default milk is oat milk and it's honestly a great compliment. I highly recommend this boba tea spot to anyone in the area. I want to come back and try the coffee boba tea, it looked delicious. They're also pretty quick with their service.

After sampling half of their menu over the last year, I can finally say that Spot of Tea has officially solidified its spot as my go-to boba spot in DC. This humble little stall tucked in the back of Union Market has it all -- a delicious and perfectly crafted menu, friendly and efficient service, and simple yet adorable decor that creates a calming space in the middle of Union Market's bustle. They have a great selection of teas that includes both classic favorites like Thai tea or your basic milk tea, but also a smattering of exciting new flavors / seasonal specials like mango hibiscus or calamansi ginger. If you're anything like me and struggle to make even the most basic of decisions, their menu also features decision guides, listing out caffeine levels, flavor profiles, and a one-line "why you should pick this drink" for quickly comparing between different options. Regardless of which drink you choose, Spot of Tea is sure to satisfy any craving, whether it's for something rich and milky, fruity and refreshing, or just straight-up caffeine. It'll also include some of DC's best boba pearls, with the perfect chewy, QQ texture (or lychee jelly if you'd prefer). I also love that they default to using oat milk for all their drinks at no extra charge, although you can request a switch to dairy milk if you'd prefer. While it's hard to pick a favorite from their phenomenal menu, a few stand-outs are: - Mango Hibiscus (great for cooling down on a hot summer day)- Mango Yuzu Black Tea (great for cooling down on a hot summer day...but also with caffeine)- Hot Black Sesame Latte (who needs hot chocolate when you can have a rich, piping hot cup of black sesame latte / milk?)In addition to their teas, they also create a delicious oat milk soft serve. You can either get matcha, black sesame, or a swirl of the two flavors -- my personal preference is always the swirl, but both flavors are great on their own as well. You would never guess its dairy-free from how rich and creamy it is, and their ice cream is the perfect level of sweetness, with the slightly bitter matcha and nutty sesame seeds breaking through the sugar. All in all, I truly can't recommend Spot of Tea enough -- absolutely swing by to give their teas and soft serve a shot!

Love the ambiance of union market in general! Service was quick as there were many tablets to order from and I got my drinks in a matter of minutes. The first time I ordered a taro vanilla drink it was a 10/10! Ton of taro flavoring (I hate when my taro vanilla milk tea just tastes like milk). The 2nd time however, it did just taste like oat milk unfortunately. I do really appreciate that they offer a non dairy milk alternative (oat milk). Thank you from the lactose intolerants out there :) I'd come back and try a different flavor!

Great boba, I've never finished a drink so fast! Wish I would've gotten a large. The jasmine tea was brewed perfectly and the ube cold foam was delicious. You order off kiosks so there isn't much service involved, but the drinks were made fast. It's located on the edge of union market, which overall has a really cute vibe.

Spot of Tea is located in the left back corner of Union Market. They have kiosks to place your order and the drinks are made pretty quickly considering how busy this place was. They have many options for fruit teas and milk teas. Today I opted for an iced Strawberry Matcha with lychee jelly. I liked how they give you the option of put light, regular, or extra pieces of jelly into your tea. They also have options for sweetness levels as well. The matcha had a light taste and I could not taste the strawberry flavor. I do like my drinks on the sweeter side and probably should have selected "extra sweet ". It's not the best strawberry matcha I've had. I also tried the coffee milk tea with extra sweetness which tasted a bit better than the matcha.
