Southern Bootheel Catering

We came across this food truck as one of the options at the National Zoo. They had a nice little menu of BBQ sandwiches plus some sides. The corn salad was excellent. There was a bit of a wait for food, but everything came out fresh and tasty. Great to have this option in a location that has more limited food choices.

I had the pulled barbecue chicken sandwich and it was dry and tasteless. The chicken tenders and fries are the safest to get.

We got some chicken tenders with fries. Their BBQ sauce was great but annoyed you have to buy it. Their katchup pump was empty when we were there and they were swamped with orders so it was basically useless to try and get their attention. The baked beans looked really good but I did not think it warranted the price. I know the location obviously lends itself to high prices... ironically the meat prices were not that high in comparison to other places nearby. If we had more time we would have ordered a bigger meal however a tired 3-year-old wouldn't last much longer. Based on all the food options around this part of the zoo, you can do much worse than Southern Bootheel.

My family went to the Zoo and was very excited to see there was a BBQ food truck. We ate at the Bootheel BBQ foot truck. The Brisket sandwich and pulled pork was delicious and moist. My kids enjoyed their chicken fingers and french fries as well! YUM

My boys and I ordered the chicken, pork and brisket sandwiches. The sandwiches were served dry, NO sauce was provided. They charge $3 for some bbq sauce. Super Strange given it is a bbq place. The meat was properly cooked, but all the meats were sooooooo salty! You could see the salt grains. I would not buy again!!!

The food was decent. I felt like the pulled pork BBQ sandwich could've been more toasted and the bbq was on the side? The fries were ok. The service was just plain rude from the moment I got to the front. There was no line but the attitude of woman taking my order was rude and off putting and she told me they would call my number when the food was ready. After waiting another woman popped her head out but I wasn't watching but I was close enough to hear if my number was called. It was not and my husband saw the woman with food in her hands. She didn't call our number but was staring at us. I walked over and politely said "oh sorry thank you" and got no response. It was off putting and left a bad taste in my mouth and next time I'll just order something from Sbarros.

The food was gross and expensive for what you get, the tenders are more like large nuggets and the fries are stale. The server was rude and didn't give us a tray unfortunately so I had to make 2 trips to get everything. Better food at sbarro.
