This is a cute date night spot with a great view of the Capital Building! The hidden-ness of this place makes it a great spot to eat at and marvel at the views of our Capital without the crowd. The service was nothing exemplary, but it wasn't bad either. They were great and friendly, but nothing stood out. For the food and drinks, I started with the Maverick. This refreshing gin-based drink is clean and crisp! Not too sweet or sour. For food, I ordered the Thai Curry Mussels, which came with a side of grilled focaccia to soak up the Thai curry. The flaky salt on top of the grilled focaccia was a great pairing with the curry flavors. I wasn't expecting that many mussels (which I'm not disappointed about) and there were cooked well! I wish the mussels were marinated in the Thai before it was served so the mussels could get more of that sweet Thai curry flavor! For dessert, I got a red velvet cake with strawberry ice cream! It was decadent, but I would like to see a lighter cream cheese frosting, it was very dense for the moist cake. Overall, I'd recommend this place for a date night! The views are great (but don't tell the tourists )!

Ive been twice, both times the food was good and drinks were great! The view is really beautiful, you can see the Capitol building.However, last month I tried reserving a table for a birthday; but I could not get through to anyone!! I probably called like 20ish times throughout the span of 3 days and I never got an answer :( Would have loved to celebrate at Smoke & Mirrors if we got the chance!

The food, the atmosphere, the views, the service, the music...all 5 stars!!! Usually places like this scare me because when the atmosphere is well planned, the food and/or service is usually terrible but that was not the case Smoke & Mirrors. Everything was excellent!!This restaurant is on the rooftop of the building where the AC Hotel is located (across the street from Whole Foods). We found (paid) street parking, arrived for our 5 pm reservation, and were immediately seated in the outdoor section of the restaurant. This restaurant has 2 bars (one indoor & one outdoor) and the views are amazing!! For dinner, we had the truffle fries, the short rib meal, and the trout meal. All of it was delicious. The trout (served with dirty rice and collard greens) was well-seasoned and cooked perfectly! The short ribs (served with mashed cauliflower and roasted carrots) was also very good.There is also a HH menu that includes cocktails and food items. I will definitely return to this restaurant!

Work hard and play hard in the capital. @smokeandmirrorsrooftop is a must for the views and vibes. the bar gets busy, so a reservation is recommended for full service. I won't lie I really wanted to try the capital smoke show but they were out of an ingredient so my husband reverted back to my usual Mexican mule which never disappoints. Next time we go, I hope to try one of their signature cocktails. I need Apple to add tots as an emoji, highly recommend the Smokey Tots for your appetizer! The smoked Gouda sauce with the bacon and scallions .. babyyyyyy I definitely wanted a second order. The Jerk Shrimp tacos had a little spice with the balance of the mango salsa and lime creme. I can't lie I probably could've added a little cholula but overall I'd get them again. My husband had the trout with dirty rice and collards. Ya girl just started eating fish a few years ago and wasn't sure if I'd like it, but that fish was so good!! Plus the seasoned dirty rice together it was hittin. Have to admit, we'd just came from NOLA the week before and had the best greens of my life so the comparison was not really fair. I won't knock them because if it, we'll just say they could've come from anyone's aunty house, they weren't exceptional, but they'll do to make the plate complete. Overall, on a Yelp 5 Star Rating I give . Some tweaks with food and assuring they have the ingredients on deck for their signature cocktails will give the fifth star. But have no doubt, I will come back! That's not enough to deter me from this amazing spot.

Highly recommend taking anyone new to the city here for a rooftop dinner! It's got really great views and you just need to make an outdoor reservation using Open Table to secure the spectacular view. I got the jerk shrimp tacos which are really yummy and juicy and comes with 3 tacos. The mango pieces added a unique flavor to it too. My friend got the lamb skewers and loved it as well.I got the SPICY MARIPOSA for my drink and it was really yummy but definitely spicy too! My friend got the French kiss which was very strong. Overall great experience and our sever was really nice to take a pic of us in front of the view as well.The surrounding area is also very friendly and walkable for a post dinner stroll in Navy Yard. Overall great experience!

Location: Rooftop of the AC HotelParking - Street parking, valet hotel parking or garage parking near Whole Foods Large space with beautiful decor. The restrooms are gender neutral and they each have a sink install the stall. It was different but a cool concept. There are two bars one inside and the other is outside on the patio. The patio has several tables and a nice view of DC. Customer service 3/5We were told all tables were reserved when we arrived. My party of 7 found a side table with barstool to sit. We had to ordered our drinks and food from the bar. After waiting about an hour and noticing majority of the seats were still empty, I asked the hostess if there was a wait list for cancellations. She informed me that we could sit anywhere we wished. Of course I was confused because we were told all tables were reserved an hour prior . Make that make sense smh. I mentioned to the bartender that we found a table and our food should be delivers to our new location. Surprisingly, he got a noticeable attitude, rolled his eyes, mumbled under his breath and went to the kitchen (I'm guessing to give them the update on our new location) Either way, I don't appreciate the attitude. Customer have a choice of where to spend their money and the customer service here could use some work. Entree: Braised short rib 5/5 it was tender and delicious Trout, dirt rice and collard greens 5/5 - the food was seasoned to perfection. I cleaned my plate. You can't go wrong with either of these items.Overall, the food was delicious. The customer service sucked and I would waste my time sitting in the restaurant. But i would absolutely order takeout .SN: Initially, I thought this place had hookah or cigars based on the name but they don't order either . Just an FYI for anyone

Excellent spot for a date night with fun, elevated casual atmosphere both inside and out. I recommend the outside rooftop seating. Beautiful views of Capitol Hill! The food is great but the drinks are even better, and Shawon provides outstanding service!! Great personality, highly recommended! We will be back.

This is by far my favorite rooftop in DC! The view of the Capital is breathtaking, the drinks are made right, and the food is cooked to perfection. I went to Smoke & Mirrors on a date with my good girlfriend and it was definitely a vibe. The fireside tables add a nice touch to the ambiance & the playlist was just right. I really enjoyed myself. Let's get into the food. For appetizers, we ordered the pork potstickers & crispy Brussels. Neither disappointed! The potstickers were def some of the best I had, flavorful & crispy. I love me some Brussels. The goat cheese was different but yet made it a nice combination. For dinner, I ordered a NY Strip med rare since I was craving steak all week. It was so good & the compound butter had a sweetness to it that added so much more flavor. I was really impressed with my meal here. For dessert, I ordered the key lime pie & red velvet cake since everything else was a 10/10. Two desserts you can't go wrong with & they did not disappoint either. Thank you Smoke & Mirrors for the vibe you bring to DC. I will be back. Oh yeah our server Tyler was the best! Thank you so much Tyler. You made our experience very rememberable.

Food: Food was excellent! Wings were very big and the fries are big enough to share. However, I was the only person that received their food out of a party of 7. We arrived at 1pm. The food took so long to arrive. My food came out at 2:15. Everyone else food didn't arrive literally until 3pm. Then have the nerve to stop bottomless mimosas. Poor customer service.Drinks: we came for brunch so they do have bottomless mimosas. However, they do not bring you a pitcher. This was annoying. They only refill your glass once you finish. This would have been ok but we couldn't find our server 80% of the time. It would take 15-20 min for a refill! Service: the waitress was professional and nice. It was not her fault the kitchen was backed up. However, the refills could have been faster. Since our food didn't come out until 3 I feel like we should have received free drinks or something. We received nothing. What makes matters worst is that someone in our party was charged a very substantial about. Three times for what their bill was. Not sure how this happened. The manager was like it will come back on your card in a few days.
