The Silver Diner or whatever the heck they are calling this place now seemed to over-deliver on the food quality, quantity (for sure) and taste. We were pleasantly surprised at our brunch items. The pancakes were light and fluffy, the bacon was crispy, the western omelet was filling and tasty.The service too was good. Andres, our server, was very attentive. He was knowledgeable about the menu and wanted to make certain that we knew EXACTLY what we were getting and EXACTLY what the ingredients were. The hostess who seated us was likewise very professional.So, overall, the dining experience was good.The one thing that left a bad taste in our mouths - and still does - is the nickel & diming they seemed to do. You want real actual maple syrup on those pancakes??? That is an extra charge. I am not certain what sort of syrup you get if you do NOT order the real actual maple syrup but it makes me feel sad for those who don't do it.Overall, though, it was a good experience that was better than I expected. I would recommend this place for a fast and casual meal.

Did management or the chef change? This past Tuesday, I brought some coworkers to dinner here. First, I noticed that all day breakfast is no longer an option, which is unfortunate but I decided I'd try something new. My lamb meatballs and pappardelle was practically inedible (way too sweet and mushy). Additionally, I ordered a chocolate milkshake, which was almost like chocolate milk in consistency. When the check came, I mentioned that it was Tuesday, which is half price milkshake night. The server informed me that they no longer do that; I told her it was still on their website. She spoke with the manager and returned to say that they'll update the website. They could have honored the half price milkshake but they did not so I paid $10 for chocolate milk. The whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth (pun intended).I live around the corner from Silver and go at least a dozen times a year, so I'm very sad about this last experience. I will try them again and I hope I just came on a bad day.

Everything on the menu looked appealing. Everything. The pickle-brined fried chicken waffle (with fluffy buckwheat waffles) was *fantastic* -- tender, crispy, thin chicken breasts, perfect waffles, fresh fruit on the side. Tremendous selection of excellent brunch cocktails -- the Bloody Mary was solid, and I highly recommend the Bellini (we got a pitcher to share) and the Orange Blossom (a delicate elderflower cocktail, light and refreshing). Cozy, Art Deco diner ambiance, busy! They still accommodated the 15 of us with ease and grace. Service was exceptional: Anna, thank you for taking such care of us, taking time to talk and give recommendations, and for being someone well worth meeting!I will return. Maybe for supper! Great place.

Probably one of the best places that I've been in DC! I can't wait to return here when we come back to DC. I loved the interior and the ambiance, all of the servers were dressed professionally and had very respectful and friendly attitudes. The food left me speechless! I wish I could eat that pickle fried chicken sandwich every day of my life. The crunch on that chicken was unbelievable! I also had a latte that was made to the 9 and a yogurt parfait as well. We also enjoyed some potato dish that had some sort of zesty sauce and my goodness, nothing short of divine. I 100% recommend this place to anyone!

In December, I ended up eating at Silver three times in two days (long story lol) and I enjoyed my experiences here! The service is very kind, and the restaurant is beautiful with a good amount of space.The food here is fine; some items like the Mediterranean quinoa bowl rocks. Some items like the tacos and the chicken piccata are lackluster. The milkshakes are a must! I highly recommend that you split one, since they're absolutely huge.

My grandma had the eggs Benedict and my boyfriend had a simple breakfast with bacon and eggs I think. Overall the prices were good and they had ample seating. This is a family favorite so I'm sure we will be back.

Drink menu is extensive and brunch offerings were plentiful including vegan and gluten free options. They get 3.5 stars as the food was serviceable but not exceptionally flavorful. Basic would be a valid description. Our waiter was attentive and the decor reminds me of Ted's Bulletin. If you are looking for a place for picky eaters and dietary restrictions this is probably a good option.

The food was great and the place was very clean it had a good atmosphere. The service was something to be desired because I was seated quickly. But was not served until other table seat down in front of me . It was not too busy , so don't understand. There was a service who was deal with a big table to my left. When I saw him take the order of the table in front of I ask who is the server for this table. He could not reply . Still waited for other ten or fifteen minutes he came back and said can I getYou coffee. He pointed to other servers and said I believe this is her table. Waiting for her come by to ask her if she was server. She said no let find out . Finally the server who gave me Coff took my order. I was myself so it made me feel like only if you two more do you get served. After that the manager came by and apologized, but the damage was done.He did ask me to come back and give other chance, which I will do on another occasion. For right now they get a bad review, let wait and see what happens next time.

I visited Silver today with my husband and mother-in-law, and unfortunately, it was a terrible experience from start to finish.First, we were told there would be a 20-minute wait, but it turned into 35 minutes with no notification that our table was ready. I had to approach the host stand to ask how much longer, and only then were we seated.Once at our table, things went from bad to worse. We witnessed the table next to us being asked to leave by their waiter because they had already paid their check and the restaurant was busy. It was incredibly uncomfortable to watch.After placing our order, we noticed the table seated 10 minutes after us received their food well before we did. Our waiter offered no explanation for the delay. Eventually, he came by to apologize, saying we were waiting on fries. When the food finally arrived, it was incomplete--no fries--and the omelets were cold. A few minutes later, the fries showed up, but the experience was already ruined.To top it off, as we were leaving, our waiter started clearing the table and spilled leftover fries all over the floor--and onto my husband. At that point, we just left, completely disappointed.We won't be coming back. Between the disorganized service, the long wait, and the poor handling of our food, this visit was beyond disappointing.
