Showa Ethiopian Restaurant

Delicious food for a great price. Wonderful service, the host was so welcoming, made us feel like guests in his home instead of a business. Offered us to try the traditional appetizers and Ethiopian wines. Tried the coffee ceremony - it's a culture class with strong, freshly roasted coffee.

Really great food! I don't know how we missed this spot because it's so close to our house, but I'm glad we finally discovered it.I got the Tibs Awaze, and my partner got the Derek Tibs. They came with two veggies as well - some spicy lentils and potatoes and carrots. The owner also threw in two lentil sambusas for us to try. Plenty of food for at least two meals, and I really enjoyed my leftovers the next day, too.

I wish I could give this place more than 5 stars! My colleagues and I visited Showa while in the city for a conference, and I'm so glad that we did. The atmosphere is unassuming, and clean and welcoming. For five of us, we ordered two veggie combos & two meat combos on gluten free injera bread (note: this place has both types of injera bread, with and without gluten). The food was absolutely delicious and priced so well - it was less than $90 combined for all of us to eat healthy portions. I also want to add that the service was great and everyone was very kind. Will definitely visit again next time I'm in DC!

I worked in Ethiopia for a number of years, so I feel like I have a decent handle on what's authentic and good in terms of traditional food. This place is both. Super yummy, super kind service, super inexpensive. Complete home run. Don't let the modest storefront location hold you back, real deal food here. They should raise their prices 50% and I'd still come back.

We had a wonderful dinner! The food was excellent. The place was clean. The owner was so kind and friendly. They accommodated to my restricted diet as well. I highly recommend this place. This is a place to go to if you want good Ethiopian food.

This is a great Ethiopian restaurant and they make delicious food. Not only that, the price is very reasonable. It's a secret jem.

Excellent food, the service was fast and friendly. It's outside of our normal ventures to Chercher and AdMo and it was totally worth it. Would recommend.

If I could give this restaurant a million stars I would!!!!! The food was soooooooo good!!! When you walk in here you are not a customer, but family which made the whole food experience even better. Every time I come to town this is one place I'm sure to have dinner!!! Also, I must remind the beautiful lady about the chicken dish she said she will make for us when we come back to town This place is a true gem to the city
