For the Korean people, by the Korean people. All is welcome, don't be afraid to stop by and get some SOUP. I love any type of soup, stew, anything liquid, I'm game and this place could be my safe haven. Got the sullungtang, which is what everyone is here for anyways, and it's great. ADD THE SALT AND PEPPER AND GREEN ONIONS, DON'T BE LIKE THAT AND COMPLAIN THAT IT'S NOT FLAVORFUL (THIS IS YOUR FINAL WARNING). There's noodles and you gotta dump all of your rice into the soup (don't spoon the soup into your rice, that's not right). The fried mandu was good too. The kimchi is great.Weird pro-tip: parking is eh, just honestly park at the 9292 and walk there, it's like maybe a 30 second walk. There's a parking space right in front of the door, like right in front that if you park there your car will get hit by the door (don't be that person).

This cozy Korean comfort food restaurant specializes in authentic Sullureongtang and other bone broth-based soups, carefully prepared by boiling for many hours to extract the best flavors and nutrients. The dishes are delicious, and the Korean traditional Galbi Jjim (steamed beef ribs in sauce) deserves a thumbs up; while it's a bit pricey, it is well worth the cost. Most of the staff are experienced aunties, and they are very friendly. Although the decoration is minimal, it still conveys the essence of a traditional Korean Sullureongtang restaurant.

We went to Shin Chon after reading some awesome reviews about be authentic Korean soups / bone broth. We were happy with the overall experience, but the soup itself was not our cup of tea. The service was fine. They seat you right away. For water, they give you Kirkland water bottles at your table. We ordered dumplings and bone broth soup. The soup is watery and milky. We definitely gave it a good try. We read about how you should add salt to it for flavor, but even with the salt, it was pretty bland. The dumplings were good. We were happy to give this place a try, and I think we probably would have liked it more if we were more familiar with this particular soup dish. Positives: The kimchi was phenomenal! And the seafood pancake was the best one we've had in a while!

Came here on a Friday night around 5pm and ordered the sulluntang and also a seafood pancake for the table. The soup is really good and the brisket was cooked perfectly as well. The seafood pancake was a really good portion and had no shortage of ingredients. Around 6p is when it started getting really busy and crowded from the dinner rush. Definitely recommend this place if you're looking for a nice cozy soup spot.

My review is primarily for the Bibim Naengmyeon.Korean cold noodles are so addicting during the summer time. Who would have thought noodles purposely made cold would pack so much flavor, but it does with that attractive spicy sauce they lather it with. The texture of the noodle is always bouncy & stretchy (yes they give you scissors so you don't choke yourself haha). It really hits the spot when you want to cool down. My girlfriend got their famous Seolleongtang which I tasted (I approve), but I'd definitely come back for the Naengmyeon.Shin Chon - this place reminds me of what Annandale used to be!

We have visited shin chon a few times and any item we've gotten has had incredibly complex flavors. Absolutely worth a visit if you're in the mood for soup, specifically the galbitang! The portion sizes make up for some of the pricier items on the menu. The staff is always welcoming and attentive.

Authentic and delicious chill Korean restaurant specializing in sul lang tang.If you are new do not forget to salt your soup to taste and mix well. I accidentally oversalted my soup and it still tasted delicious so that's how you know it is good. The broth was so full that it was coating the back of the spoon. The seafood pancake was a bit on the crispier side if you are into that.

Nestled in the heart of Annandale, Virginia, Shin Chon Seullongtang is a haven for Korean food enthusiasts seeking authentic flavors and hearty comfort. My recent visit delivered pure Seoul-ful satisfaction, earning a well-deserved 5-star rating. The undisputed star of the show is their namesake dish, the seollongtang ox bone soup. This milky white broth, simmered for hours with ox bones and vegetables, is a symphony of richness and subtlety. Each spoonful is a warm hug from the inside out, the delicate flavors lingering long after the last drop. This is a must-order.While the seollongtang soared, the braised short ribs galbijjim fell slightly short of expectations. I yearned for a thick, spicy, sauce-laden masterpiece, but what arrived was more akin to a thick soup. The flavor was pleasant, but lacked the punch I crave in a galbijjim. But fear not, for the seafood pancake redeemed any culinary disappointment. This behemoth of a pancake was packed with fresh seafood and vegetables, its exterior boasting a delightful crispness that yielded to a soft, savory interior. Each bite was a delightful explosion of textures and flavors, a testament to the kitchen's skill.Beyond the food, the atmosphere at Shin Chon Seullongtang is undeniably Korean. The bustling energy, the cheerful chatter in Korean, and the unpretentious décor transport you straight to the streets of Seoul. This is a place where authenticity is not just a tagline, it's the lifeblood of the restaurant.Shin Chon Seullongtang is not just a restaurant; it's a portal to Korea. While the galbijjim might have missed the mark, the seollongtang and seafood pancake are absolute must-tries. And the authentic atmosphere ensures an experience that goes beyond the plate. So, if you're craving a taste of Seoul without the plane ticket, make your way to Shin Chon Seullongtang. You won't be disappointedCome hungry! The portions are generous, and you'll want to savor every bite. And don't forget to ask for kimchi and other banchan (side dishes) to complete your Korean feast.

Just dined in here with my family for lunch and it will always be my go to Korean ox tail soup place in nova as they specialize in it. They also have other dishes including Korean pancakes and cold noodles (perfect for hot summer day). Each soup comes with rice and there is lunch and radish for the table. Very delicious and hits the spot whenever I want a warm soup with some noodles, rice, and meat besides getting pho.

Definitely recommending the ox tail soup !!! It was soo good and the meat was really tender. Seafood pancake was also really crispy and I enjoyed that. I also appreciate them serving water bottles instead of tap. Their kimchi was also really fresh, so a plus for those who like fresh kimchi! We also got the combo combination sullungtang and the rice cake and dumpling soup. I wasn't as impressed with these as the ox tail soup! Overall pricing can be a tad bit more expensive than other places.
