Shi Miao Dao

This might be the second Yunnan style restaurant in the DMV (first one in Alexandria). And I am truly a fan. It's located about 3 miles from the Mosiac and in the same shopping center as H Mart, Popeyes, Lidl, and next to Bobapop (another new establishment). The menu consists of small plates/appetizers, various savory soup options, preset rice noodle dishes, add ons, and drinks. It's fairly short and simple. The literal translation for their name is "10 seconds". I am not sure about the meaning behind their name, but the service was quick. They clean and set the tables fast. And the food arrived quickly as well. We tried their bone broth and spicy mala soup broth and both were so flavorful and perfect for a cold and rainy day. Both soups came out in huge bowls and it was plentiful when it came to food. My only wish was for more vegetables. The noodles were smooth and silky. Their beef tripe appetizer was very good. I liked it better compare to other neighboring restaurants that sell this same dish. We also tried their shrimp balls with cheese filling appetizer and honestly it tastes like shrimp chips from the Asian grocery store but in the form of real food. We are a fan and this dish is apparently popular with kids. I wish this place was closer to home so I can go here every other day. It's comforting for this cold winter.

I order Hot & Sour Golden Beef Brisket rice noodle soup! It was soo yummy! I love how sizzling hot it was. Also, the store is clean and staff is super nice!I enjoyed my meal. I wish they provided me the options of putting all the ingredients myself or they could do it for me. Mine came already put together on my behalf.Parking can be crowded depending on the time you come since it's in the shared H-Mart parking lot.

Loved the chicken noodle soup! They are not overly salty like Jinya Ramen. This place is a good candidate for repeat visits.However, if they have a menu that allows you to customize, I would probably come more often. For example, you can pick a soup base (chicken, fish, tomatoe, or beef), then add various protein and veggies. I would pick more veggies instead of the preset ham and quail egg. I understand that some people aren't familiar with toppings and would get lost. For those customers you should keep a handful of set combos. An additional "create your own" option would leave some room for noodle soup connoisseurs to enjoy more. I would come more often if you allow more veggies and tofu in my soup without having to pay a few dollars extra for each addition and give no credit for taking the things out I don't care to eat!

Cute and pretty small restaurant that's perfect for winter! I saw instructions on what order to add your items so was a little sad that it came already assembled. Especially I wish I could control when I want to add the noodles since by the end they got slightly soggy but had good texture in the beginningSteamed chicken in chili oil - 2.5/5 nice flavor but too cold and a bit dry. Szechuan beef brisket hot pot- 4/5 so good! I wish it was a bit spicier since I feel like it had some spice but less than even shin ramen. The Szechuan had nice fragrance and had perfect amount of numbing for me since it was extremely light. Yummy flavor and love the toppings tooOriginal brisket hot pot - 3/5 like a more flavorful seolleongtang! Liked this too The waiter was very nice and friendly too and everything came at a good speed

I had this spot saved to try in Rockville, but was thrilled to find out a location opened closer to me in nova! Safe to say, the noodle soup absolutely did not disappoint and was a great comfort food option, particularly on a cold day. It came in a stone pot, so the soup stayed hot the entire time.Service was a bit slow, and the seating was a bit tight, had to wait a little before getting seated (but we went on a Saturday night). If going with a big group, might be worth to make a reservation if they take them!

Arrived in 10 seconds- Chinese translation of this restaurant's name. Have been here two times since they opened. Love the variety noodle soup options. The proportion is big and it comes with generous amount of toppings. One of my favorites is the golden chicken soup. The broth is flavorful and thick, would definitely be back for the same dish!

Pretty yummy noodle soup place!! The soup comes in a stone(?)-like bowl and it comes super hot. I had to wait a couple minutes for it to cool down so be careful not to burn your mouth.Tomato soup: (3/5) I personally thought the soup was TOO much in tomato flavor. I personally liked the other soups my parents got which was the original and the green pepper soup (4/5).Popcorn chicken (3/5): I thought these were good but nothing too special about it. Still crispy though!Cucumber (3/5): This seasoning kinda had a nutty flavor. I wish they were a little spicy.I would probably come back and get the other soup flavors!

Came here with a couple friends and we all got a version of beef brisket noodles . I got the tomato broth, and I loved it. I wanted seconds after finishing the whole thing. Note: In the pictures online and on the menus it looks like they place the ingredients on the side, but when the dish arrives they're already mixed in, so if you don't want something (ex mushrooms) say that beforehand, because I made that mistake.

Good noodle soup at a very affordable price. I had the pork bone soup and broth was very flavorful. The noodles and meats inside were delicious as well. Also order the popcorn chicken as an appetizer. I was really good too. Would definitely recommend this place.

My husband and I actually went on our first date to this chain in Rockville about 10 years ago! Super excited to see it in Virginia. It gets packed super fast so come early or make reservations. Also order the fried buns, you won't be disappointed . If you are someone who gets hungry or eats a lot, the soup noodle isn't enough, order more food
