Situated in the Hubbard Place building on 14th Street NW, in the former Black Lion Market on the corner of 14th and Otis Place. The entrance for Sheba Café is closest to the Exxon on the corner and from the outside looks pretty unassuming. Inside, it is an actual coffee shop. It looks totally different from the days as a small grocery store. The décor is nice, the did a great job with the set-up. It is on the small side though, better suited for to-go orders rather than getting a seat doing work. Both times, I've been it was pretty empty so that may work in your favor. The Chai here is pretty sweet. They didn't have any almond, cashew or soy milk so that wasn't progressive. I would say they do more with coffee, however. Because I am not a coffee drinker, that was of little consequence to me. I did try a Muffin, chocolate chip, since it was so sweet I ended up pitching it. I will rest on 3 Stars for the option of having a coffee shop that far up 14th Street. I also like being able to buy Ethiopian bottled water, that is what I am eyeing for my for my next visit, that and an actually Ethiopian meal. p.d. They sell Ethiopian coffee that you could brew yourself at home.

This place is a local neighborhood restaurant. I was skeptical going inside because I had no idea what to expect but this place is a lovely reprieve.I loved the lega timbs, which is a lamb dish that had onions, peppers, tomatoes, etc. They give very nicely sized portions which is great for dc. I will say while I was there they were cooking and it got a little smokey, which made our eyes water. But what you might not expect from this place was the fact that their juices and smoothies are really good. Its an Ethiopian cafe and known for their food but I actually prefer their drinks.

I love this place! It's a great neighborhood spot with delicious food. The food portions are always large, full of tasty spices, and well priced. Everything is cooked to order so it takes a little longer than other restaurants. For breakfast I highly recommend the Silsi - Splendid Egg which takes around 10-15 minutes to prepare. The platter dishes for dinner are always good too. Stick to ordering the Ethiopian food and not the muffins or pastries. The coffee is great. The ambiance is fun but a little daunting if you're not ready for it. They play Ethiopian YouTube videos on the TV so there's always music and melody inside the cafe. I think it's really charming and positive. The walls are decorated with inspiration quotes and messages. Positivity and Eggs!

This is my corner Ethiopian cafe. The breakfast here is amazing. So much food for a great price. I always end up with leftovers. I've ordered the injera plate and the tibs. Basic seating but food can't be beat.

I was a little suspicious at first because there were so few reviews and there is a buffet station when you walk in, but the food was absolutely delicious- one of the better Ethiopian places I've been to in dc (and I've been to several), with larger portions and cheaper prices than some of the others I've been to, even though I wouldn't consider those other places expensive to begin with. The staff is also super nice. Highly recommend!
