Seoul Soondae

Seoul Soondae is one of the vendors at the Lotte Mart in Centreville. After a long day of hiking and outdoors, I was definitely craving a hearty soup for dinner. I knew soondae soup was going to hit the spot.SOONDAE COMBO - 17.99This comes with soondae soup and a platter of soondae (+ some liver and others), dipping salt & sauce for the soondae, and the typical banchan all in a cafeteria tray. The portion of soondae was massive. My platter had 15 pieces of soondae and a bit of the others. The soondae was quite tasty and I loved the texture. The dipping salt was perfect. I'll rave about the soondae soup. It came out super hot and it was generously topped with chives and black peppercorns that really sealed the deal with the seasoning and flavor. The soup also had lots of soondae. Again, immaculate flavor for the soup, but a bit too salty at the end since it didn't mix well. But this soup made me quiet for a solid 5 minutes because I just wanted to sip and enjoy. So hearty and homey!There's plenty of seating here (cafeteria style) with a few other vendors, too. If you like soondae and soondae soup, I'd highly recommend. I personally really liked the soondae soup here.

Thank you so much, Seoul Soondae, for really satisfying my dad's soondae craving!I was a little nervous due to the super low reviews on the place, but now I can see that either other people's tastebuds are totally whack, or they don't know what soondae is really and authentically supposed to taste like.Typically, the soondae you find in the States are usually all rice and mostly 'fillers' - here, you can taste the freshness and care that they put into it.The soup came out piping hot, with ample amount of veggies and sliced soondae; there is also some spicy paste that you can add to kick it up a bit; my dad, who's a huge spice fiend and a total grandmaster, thought the paste was just enough.The side of sliced soondae that came with was generous, and the banchans were all well-made.I can see why this place gets a lot of catering requests, to-go orders, as well as patrons who just choose to have a hearty and filling meal.This location can be found inside the small food court at Lotte. Not bad. The donkatsu was pretty good. But the soondae was meh. You can find better soondae elsewhere.

I haven't gone to the other locations yet and it was my first time visiting this location. I ordered #11 and it was pretty good! They only charge me about $10 as well. Cool!

Since I was planning to buy my grocery for the week, I wanted to check out the food court in Lotte as well. Since it's a food court, you serve yourself. You can get a number after you order so you know when to pick up when food is ready. You can order beverages from the food place. They also have a water dispenser for free but you need to ask for a cup. I got soondae combo from this place. It has a soup, soondae (Korean blood sausage), pork intestine, rice and a few side dishes (banchan). The food was good, especially the soup. The portion was decent for how much they charge. I would come back here for more soondae when I crave it again.

Seoul soondae, located inside of the Centreville Lotte Plaza. Convenient for the locals that are living in the area. Why one star?? Because unfortunately, a zero star isn't a rating option. The food is decent; however the service and business ethics are atrocious, to say the least. To be more specific, per the blaring sign hung across the ceiling (five of them to be exact), I ordered the $7.99 "special" (the small soondae plate). But they couldn't sell me the special because they didn't have enough soondae. (May I humbly remind you: the business is (aptly named?) Seoul SOONDAE!). Since the "special" was unavailable, she then offered me the large soondae platter instead. And two orders of the large -- at that. You do the math. How can they have enough soondae to cover two large platters if there isn't enough to fulfill one small special?!?!! I'm no math expert, but it doesn't take a mathematician to understand that they try to steer you away from purchasing the $7.99 special to sell you the large platter instead. (A bait I wasn't willing to bite).

I enjoy their soondae and their soondae guk. Lots of great flavor and very cozy. Always feel great afterwards!

Very unfortunate that this place has gone downhill. Remembered enjoying the dishes and that there used to be decent portion sizes. Now if you order something you get a very small amount of the actual dish and a bunch of filler or if it's soup it's super watered down. Sad because it's hard to find places that do this type of food.

Hair found on our dish. Would advise against eating here. Not sanitary. Not acceptable to have hair on the dish along with another plate we ordered.

Order to go. Got jeyuk bokkum and sogoki guk. OMFG! Taste horrible. There is no meat in the soup. It was . I saw 3 small pieces of meat. Please don't go there! I wanted to call and say something but korean ppl don't care. Not going to order from there or go there.
