This place was in a weird shopping strip. I found the sign but barely could figure out how to get into the restaurant. I just took a chance and pulled on this random door that said open. That door led me into Secrets of Nature. I was so confused where the restaurant part of the store was so I walk to the nearest counter. It was a man just standing there staring at me. I waiting for a moment to see if he would say anything, he didn't. So I said "May I see a menu?" Still without speaking he gave me the menu. It was two ladies sitting at a table in the store about to eat. I asked them what did they order. I walked back to the man and began to place my order when he told me I had to go to the kitchen. I had to then ask where the kitchen was. I walked to the kitchen where it was another 2 women just staring without greeting me. I waited.... nothing. So I said "Can I order?"I order the mock ginger chicken with greens, kale, and Mac & cheese. She prepared my plate as I stated my order. The food was already prepared in aluminum tins. I had to go back to the man in the front to pay. My little container of food can to damn near $15. I later realized I was charged for 2 proteins (mock chicken & ?!?!?) and 2 veggies. Not sure what side was considered a protein in their book. All the sides I ordered was considered a veggie on their menu. I drove home to enjoy my meal. I LOVE Mac & Cheese. I was not pleased at all with their Mac. It has all types of weird flavors in it. I think I taste some curry in it. YUCK!! Everything else was pretty good. I wanted to drive back to exchange the Mac for something else. If I go again I would definitely order the Mock Chicken, Greens and give the Mock Beef (mushrooms) a try. The food was decent. The employees just don't have a sense of customer service skills. It doesn't take much to just say Hello. The food is slightly pricey for the amount of food that is given. The did have a good selection of teas that I would go back to purchase. I'll give it 3 stars because I rarely to find good vegetarian food. Especially in the SE area of Washington D.C. The Mock chicken really taste like chicken.

I love this place! I am Newly vegan and this place is walking distance so I appreciate the accessibility. I am always greeted with warm welcome, smiling faces. The food is delicious and filling. They have a wide variety of herbs to choose from and whenever I can't find something in stock someplace else I can always find it here (so why go someplace else)I love that it's located in SW where there is little to no resource to healthy food stores. Much needed in the community and greatly appreciated!

My hubby gets his breakfast from here some mornings. They always gives you plenty and food is always Yummy! I usually order my herbs online, but now I can go here! They sell all types of herbs, hygiene products, teas, books, vitamins, snacks and a small selection of groceries! It's in a very small strip mall so parking is not a problem! Staff was friendly!

They have an extensive list of herbs to choose. I stop by routinely for supplies for my steams. The owner is full of knowledge and helpful. The spot is easy to overlook from the exterior, but there's plenty to offer once inside.

My first exploration into the veggie world, also the first review I've ever written. My selection was astounding in taste. I ordered the fried broccoli (Best Thing), mock salmon, kale, and spring roll. I enjoyed every bit of it. Each came in great portions. I will definitely be a returning customer!*My reviews are based on expectations.Expectations: 3 starsResults: 4 stars (Certain)!

Oh wonderful hidden treasure! I loved the "family" feeling when I walked in. The man that sits in the front is so friendly and explains his food throughly and effortlessly. The inside seating area is cozy and welcoming but little too warm in the summer- but not a big deal.

This review was from 3 years ago. Since than I've been back and food was horrible. Wasn't sure if it was a cook change or just the lack of time spent on it.

This place was a true find. It is a small unassuming store and eat-in or carry-out restaurant. Once you open the front door (no windows, only a small sign marking the entry) you are greeted by some amazing smells. I ordered the collard greens , mock chicken and mock steak. I have not eaten any meat products in over a year and the flavor and texture was spot on. I would highly recommend this place to both vegetarians and carnivores. I did not explore all of the other health food items but they had plenty of powders, plant and pills showcased.

So why was I told today, March 25th that the truck was delivering tomorrow? I understand supplies are low but you all need to not offer things you cannot deliver on. I've missed the opportunity to get these from other vendors while waiting on you all because you promised...delivery Tuesday, March 24th and sent no update for 24 hours. I called you this morning you promised that the items would be in stock and delivered Thursday, March 25th and now you send a cancellation through Mercato?Very disappointed...
