Super friendly service! You can have a sandwich prepared while you pick up your groceries. Super cute store that has everything you need. From wine to white laws and even some produce. They have a great selection and a variety of ethnic food products as well. They also have soap, TP and paper towels. The tuna salad sandwich I got was tasty! I also picked up some fresh onions while I was there so I wouldn't have to go to the grocery store later on.

Crummy service and looked completely disinterested in serving me as a customer. Didn't even want to purchase any food or anything in the store because of the service.

4 stars for an excellent local grocery store.I stop in Scheele's Market, located at the intersection of 29th and Dumbarton, probably about once a week to buy something. While my wife and I often go to the CVS down the street out of convenience, we try to stop in to support this mom-and-pop grocery store when we can.Stopping in to Scheele's isn't just about supporting a local shop, but also because the store has several unique offerings. First, the back area includes a little deli shop where they make awesome sandwiches and pretty solid sushi randomly. Next, while the store is rather small with narrow aisles, many of the items in the aisles are either unique (like some tasty halibut snacks) or something you would never see at CVS but rather would at Whole Foods (i.e. organic meats and milk). Finally, this spot offers some fresh produce, which is always great to be able to pick up and enjoy without driving to a bigger store.Overall, Scheele's Market provides a great place for locals to check out. The convenience and fun food selection in the heart of a Georgetown neighborhood is another reason it is great to live here.

Favorite neighborhood shop! They have the best selection even though it's a small shop (you can even get tennis balls!) and they are so friendly! Yes, the prices are slightly higher than your average Trader Joe's but this is right at your front door and it is irreplaceable so I don't mind the extra few bucks (which are service fees). I even managed to get wine here on thanksgiving morning so again, thank you for existing. Please support small businesses like this!

Scheele's the best corner market you can ask for! For 3 months my kitchen was being fixed and I was living with a mini fridge. Scheele's basically became an extension of my kitchen. Do you need wine/cheese? They got that. Almond milk? That too. How about onions? That too. I am also a huge fan of their sandwiches- makes an easy and tasty lunch. It's a neighborhood institution!

I get the warm and fuzzies from Scheele's. It's always there for me when I need anything but don't have the time or energy to attempt Trader Joe's. The owners are always attentive and welcoming, and they often have their children in the store with them (talk about some cute kids!).Scheele's has the items you would expect from a corner grocery in the Georgetown area -- read: tons of organic, non-GMO items. They also have STELLAR bagel sandwiches (only on weekday mornings). One of my favorite ways to start a day off of work is a bagel sandwich with fresh coffee from Scheele's and taking my dog Rosco to nearby Rose's Park for a long game of catch. I truly can't say enough good things about Scheele's. My only gripe is that they don't open early enough on weekday mornings to get my beloved bagel sandwich before catching the DC Circulator to work.

I love this place. I am guessing from the other review that the cute couple who are always there are Mr & Mrs. Lee, and while you aren't going to do your weekly shopping here (or maybe you are, if you live on wine, bagels, ice cream, etc) if you need something in a pinch, this is your place.Shopping at Scheele's instead of the 7-11 around the block always makes me feel better as well since Scheele's is a nice little family, and 7-11 is a store that is usually out of what I need (out of Diet Coke once? who is out of Diet Coke??) and the people at the register are clueless. Just go to Scheele's....

The absolute best corner market!! The owners are the loveliest people, always welcoming with a smile to a shop their are clearly proud of, any take pride in their service and delivery. It's not uncommon to see the owner close shop for a few minutes to help an elderly neighbor carry groceries to their car. It's simply the best local market!! Could not recommend it more!

A beautiful relic of a bygone era - the neighborhood grocery store. Visiting Scheele's is like visiting Cheers, the owners know your name, you feel welcome, and you step back 80 years. The sandwiches are excellent, the store has everything, and the bagels are to die for. Prices are a bit higher than larger stores and CVS, but neighborhood stores like Scheele's can never compete with big box stores or national chains in that regard. It's worth the slight extra for the service, ambiance, quality and delightful experience. Please go shop there.
