We have been fortunate to visit family in multiple places in the globe but this was the first time we encountered a server who 'had to check with her manager' (repeated robotically multiple times) because we brought a safe meal for our young teen. This server made us very uncomfortable and my child was mortified at our family being treated like scofflaws because of her medical condition. After she came back from talking to her manager she was OK to take our order. I wonder what her manager said because she was really saccharinely sweet and even more unbearable. Then she proceeded to try to save face by saying she 'understood because she has "gluten allergy"'. I'm surprised she didn't claim to have a 'friend with food allergies.' Most restaurant servers are relieved not to have to worry about the allergic diner having a medical emergency at the restaurant but not this one. After grilling us on our child's food allergies the server admitted they really did have nothing safe to for our child to eat except the drink that was ordered. The irony was that we were in DC for the F.A.R.E. Summit 2024 (Food Allergy Research and Education). On that note, we really wanted to go to the adjacent Little Blackbird restaurant but it was packed and we were pushed to Sababa. The food we had consisted of mediocre kebabs, bland rice, and dips that were absolutely nothing special. Nothing to write home about and a disappointment all around. And if one of your party has food allergies, even a child, expect to be treated very poorly.

I've come to Sababa a few times now and absolutely love it each time! The food is amazing. We love getting the salatim and having a sample of the different dips to start. We've tried their sea bass which was a good portion size, the grilled meats (salmon and chicken) were cooked to perfection and well seasoned. The vibe inside is wam and cozy. My only feedback is that the service on weekend was less attentive. Our waters didn't get refilled and they took a while to check on us. But for the amazing food, I am def planning to come back over and over again!

Still a great place but a couple things were less than perfect. My cocktail was very tiny for the price and overly sweet!!!!! It was called Sofganiyot and I don't recommend it. Most of the food was awesome as usual. The halloumi wasn't as good as I remembered but definitely not bad. The best things are the meat skewers, the bread and dips, the eggplant, and the cauliflower. Overall, it's a little pricey here.

My first time eating Israel food and of course, first time at Sababa. We went to Sababa to celebrate my friend's birthday. They did a good job making my friend feel special and personal for this special occasion. It was a positive experience. We had a good time. The service was great and attentive. As for the food, I might not be the best person to judge it as Israeli cuisine isn't what I'm familiar with and this also my first time eating it. I'll share what I thought but I'm biased. I did love the Pita bread and the Hummus with hot honey. The salmon kebab was perfectly cooked and had nice flavor. My friends who love Israeli food said the beef Kofta was amazing while I thought it was okay. The Steak kebab was cooked well but not flavorful enough for me.Overall, I like the place, the food and the experience but I didn't feel like it's worth $50 per person.

Came here for my Mom's birthday, and the whole family loved it! Their food is really unique, and the menu is great for vegetarians, vegans, and folks who eat meat. The inside decor is also really beautiful, and the server was very kind, knowledgeable and patient. Would highly recommend!

I was very eager to try Sababa as I really enjoy the other Knightsbridge restaurants. I used to comeHere frequently when it was Ardeo + Bardeo. Unfortunately it just missed the mark. Food was just fine - nothing exciting. My poached egg on the Benedict was a bit undercooked (runny white) and the latke was too thick and lacked flavor. The cauliflower was just so so, and not crispy at all. My friend got the kebab and said it was rubbery and tasted like old meat. The mimosas at least were tasty and good deal, but we had to flag our server to ask for refills multiple times. Service was friendly but could have been a bit more attentive. She was great at describing the menu and making recommendations but then it fell off after that. It also just felt dead - pretty empty for Sunday brunch in a very residential neighborhood (should have been more people). With so many other incredible middle eastern places in town, this is one to skip especially at the price point.

We tried the restaurant week $40 menu which was a pretty deal considering the generous portion. Food was delicious and our waitress was super kind and helpful . The only minor thing was, we waited for quite a long time for the food to come out.overall we had a good time.

This was my first time eating at an upscale Mediterranean restaurant. The service was great. We made reservations online and mentioned we were celebrating a birthday. We were going to be a little late so we called ahead to see of they could push back our reservation a little and they did so happily. They even gave us two dessert with candles for our birthday. The waitress was really nice and friendly.I have not had a lot of mediterranean food so I'm not an expert but I really enjoy the food.We started with the salatim which came with 5 different hummus and two pita. We ordered an extra 4 pita because they were so good and we had a lot of hummus to eat. The pita was very reasonably priced at $1 each. The hummus was very good! The tables favorite hands down was the turmeric tahini with hot honey, SO GOOD!We also ordered the Beef kofta, Salmon kebab, Stake kebab and the Lamb Shank. To shareMy favorites were the lamb shank and the salmon kebab. Both were cooked perfectly and were so flavorful. Great birthday experience, I would definitely come again.

Went here for a family members birthday dinner, and let me tell you it was absolutely phenomenal. We were a large party, and tried most of the starters. Among them, the cauliflower and the hummus were fantastic. The drinks were great and creative, and the kebabs were delicious as well. The service and staff were excellent and super friendly/accommodating. Great evening, 10/10 would recommend!
