This is my third time ordering from Roll Play in Rockville - their relatively new Maryland location. First time I picked up. Second and third times, I knew better and ordered delivery (more on that below). It is a "ghost kitchen." I should have checked to make sure what the set up was BEFORE venturing out in the pitch black darkness, looking for what I thought was a restaurant. I got pretty familiar with Taft - up and down... up and down. All I saw were warehouses...or do I thought. I finally pulled over into a parking lot with a few lights on. I then called and the manager explained that for now they are a ghost kitchen and he would bring out my food when I arrived. I explained to him where I was parked and lo and behold - corny, but true, I pulled into Roll Play's lot!! Yaayy. All went smoothly from there. Now for the food. I found the food to be good! So good I've ordered from Roll Play 3 times! They always have 2 for 1 specials and the options for the 2 for 1's have grown. I always get the Bahn mi's (2 for 1), the shrimp pork fried egg rolls (2 for 1), the Mom's fried rice (2 for 1), and I usually get 1 other dish like pho or the salad. The dishes, all of them, do not fail! Have I had better Vietnamese? Of course - I've had Vietnamese next door in Cambodia, and I am a child of the Eden Center and DC Sandwich, now Bahn Mi's DC Sandwich. But Roll Play is pretty competitive. What Roll Play has (now) that the others do not, is customer service. There they cannot be beat! They have always been a commodity. The other night my order got mixed up with another person's order which regularly happens with deliveries. I got broth instead of the egg rolls I ordered. When I called Roll Play, the manager (female) was fabulous and arranged for egg rolls to be delivered to me. She exuded great customer service! She was so sorry for the mix-up and just went about making it right. How refreshing! Kudos to Roll Play! They are definitely worth your effort to try.

I knew before ordering that this was a ghost kitchen but decided to give them a try since I've heard good things about the VA location. We ordered delivery and it took over an hour to arrive. Food was cold so things weren't off to a great start.Banh mi: a flop, not enjoyable at all. The sandwich was cold, bread untoasted, and had no flavor. There were skimpy pieces of chicken with no lemongrass flavor. The fried eggs made up a bulk of the sandwich. Had to douse it in hot sauce and hoisin to made it edible. We also got the ox tail pho. The broth was flavorful but my friend's noodles were literally hard and uncooked. Shouldn't be called a specialty if the noodles are still raw. The fried rice was just sad. Clumpy, no fried flavor at all and had oddly large chunks of carrot?? Tasted microwaved tbh. Restaurant also forgot the all the egg rolls and jalepeno sauce for my friend's noodle bowl. Egg rolls were fine but again lukewarm. Hard to mess up that.Plenty of other better Viet places in the area instead,

This is a ghost kitchen on Taft Street. Ordering is through their website and it's the Rockville location. This is my second time ordering. I went and picked up rather than have delivery.Friendly staff and it's easy to pick up. Just ring the bell and they will come to the door.Got the spring rolls and summer rolls. I really like the salmon. The lemongrass chicken and caramelized pork or tasty too. Spring rolls come in Veggie as well as pork. I've tried both and I like them both. The sate and crisps combo area a promo. The sate is super spicy! The crisps have a kick too, but go great on everything. Trying the banh mì this time. I opted for the lemongrass chicken! Love that the fried eggs are included. Price point is a bit high. But they do have happy hour specials. Not sure what those hours are, but I've managed to checkout their website at the right time!
