I've always had a great time at Rakuya, and this time was no different. Actually if anything, it was better because we discovered their unlimited mimosa/sangria option.I got their udon/rice bowl combo that is truly just an unparalleled combo. I've previously had a second meal from leftovers, but I was so hungry, I finished the full platter, and it was so yummy. The mimosa/sangria offer was $15 for 90 minutes, and those glasses were fulllll. The staff were also so so kind and great. Consistently, . I would recommend making a reservation for dinner and Saturday brunch, but I haven't had an issue with Sunday brunch/lunch times!

Pretty decent sushi. I got the Seoul Train and it was alright. I think it's pretty expensivefor how small each roll is but compared toother sushi places around DC, it'snot bad. The service was pretty good and they made sure we were accommodated.

I don't often leave bad reviews, but this one couldn't stand. We came in for happy hour and had the weirdest service. A server came by and started to take our order, but walked off halfway through one of our sentences and a new server took our order (we had to start over). Weird and very offputting. The second server said that the menu that we were ordering from was old and they had a new one (ok). We tried a third time and finally got an order in.When we got our order, it was grocery store quality sushi -- and that's being kind. I've been here numerous times over the years and had good food, so I'm not sure if it's a supply chain thing or what, but every piece we had was chewy and unappetizing. We decided to take part of each roll home not because we honestly wanted to eat it for lunch the next day or later that night as a snack, but just because we had paid for it and were too full to finish (and honestly a little bit nauseated). We asked for a box. Our server goes "so sorry, since it was ordered on happy hour, you can't take any to go." First of all, that wasn't listed anywhere on the menu, second of all, we're talking maybe enough leftovers for a full roll between two people -- we certainly weren't cheating any happy hour system, and third of all.. what? We ordered 4 nigiri and 2 rolls... I was tempted to just hold the roll in my napkin for the principle of it. What a waste of food! With that, we got the check and left. Won't be returning. There are so many better sushi places in the area and with better quality service AND food.

I went here for lunch with my boyfriend the other day and it was amazing. The fish was very fresh teishoku sashimi set. It was a great value for everything I got and all the little sides were good to my favorite was the fish cake salad thing! My boyfriend got an assortment of nigiri and rolls. The black snake was amazing! They had a wide selection of different fish with different preparations. I will for sure go back!

Rakuya is a solid spot for sushi, with fresh and well-prepared offerings, but it leans on the pricier side for the portion sizes. The quality of the sushi was undeniable, but I found myself wishing the rolls were a bit larger for the price point. That said, the ambiance was inviting, and the service was attentive throughout the meal. If you're planning to visit, I'd recommend checking out their happy hour deals--these offer better value and make the experience more worthwhile.Overall, a good sushi spot with a slightly premium price tag. It's worth a visit, especially if you time it right for the specials. Four stars!

Pretty decent sushi! Have been here a few times over the years and this lunch was better than my last. There was a $3 up charge to swap the CA roll for spicy tuna but worth it in my opinion.

I had actually forgotten about this spot and hadn't been here in years. Still a solid choice for sushi in Dupont. I definitely recommend going for happy hour. The outside seating is great for people watching while you grub.

*happy hour review* Happy hour is 4:15-6pm.RAKUYA has become my favorite new spot for happy hour. Why? 1. Sushi. On. Happy. Hour. Say less. They have many rolls you can choose from for $6-$11. And the sushi is good. 2. Outdoor patio - they have tons of outdoor seating. 3. You are guaranteed a spot outside. No reservations are needed, you can walk up and get a table for pretty much any sized group. 4. Drinks- they have a good assortment of HH drinks from very large beers, sake, etc.5. They also have gyoza, edamame, etc on happy hour, it's not just sushi.

I love Rakuya for their vegan bento box. They have such a great grasp on how to make multiple types of dishes and flavors with similar ingredients - that's what gives vegan dishes depth! The salad was my favorite part because of the dressing - so tasty and flavorful! If you are vegan, make sure to specify to your waiter that you are vegan and not vegetarian as the vegetarian bento box may have egg/fish sauce present. They were very accommodating when we specified vegan.
