We had a quick snack and some drinks before going in next door. The wings are amazing as is the cauliflower. Our server was very nice and funny. Speedy service. We sat in turn party which was a nice break in the day.

Discovered this restaurant for Alexandria's restaurant week and really glad I found it!It's a smaller space but very intimate, dimly lit, and well decorated! We were immediately greeted when we walked in and our server/bartender was extremely welcoming and friendly! We chatted for a bit and really loved the quality of service he provided. It was personable and professional. We tried the wagyu burger (perfectly seasoned and cooked, juicy!) and the hot chicken sandwich (crispy chicken, delectable sauce, overall 10/10 and a MUST). The appetizers we got Brussel sprouts (very bitter, a little soggy, overall a bit disappointing) and the ribbon fries (they were basically chips, but not seasoned or salted) topped with a mayo-based sauce that was pretty good but also pretty disappointing. We didn't have room for desserts but the main dishes and drinks were good! There is a speakeasy counterpart that is right next door with incredible cocktails. Excited to try it out soon.

So originally we signed up for an Experimental Zero Proof Cocktail night with Captain Gregory's but it ended up being a Railbird event (or both places?). Makes sense, a little more room out there anyway. We haven't been on this side of the place since it was a Sugar Shack so it was nice to see the new concept. The seats are mostly at the bar was maybe 3-4 tables around the rest of the restaurant. We got a small taster when we sat down which was really good but I do not remember what it was. The zero proof menu we were there consisted of a Blueberry, Fauxgroni, and a Honey cocktail. We got the Blueberry and Fauxgroni to start. Both were made in front of us and had very cool looking details, especially the Fauxgroni's ice cube. The Blueberry was delicious and the honey foam on top was great with it. We figured since we were there we should also grab dinner which was fully available too. Not a huge menu but had snacks and sandos with a Japanese influence. We started with the Oysters Trio and Tater Tots. The oysters came in these ceramic oysters which was pretty cool and they had an amazing flavor to them. Little sweet, little sour. The tater tots were also great because they're tater tots but the sauce really changed the flavors for us.We also got two sandos, the Hot Maple and the Miso Honey. The sandwich's were a good size. So much flavor packed in each bite. The Hot Maple had a ton of bacon jam and combined with the red onion it was a salty, sweet, sour, crunchy rich sandwich. The runny egg on top was a nice touch. The Miso Honey had a strong truffle flavor but the honey sweetness came through nicely. Also very crunchy.Lastly we got two more drinks off their regular menu, the Coffee Bean and the Hibiscus. The flavors in the Coffee Bean worked so well together. I would say it was one of the best cocktails I've had in a long time. The Hibiscus was pretty solid too but I only had a few sips. To end, as a part of our experience, we got these complimentary yuzu lime donuts. I guess as a call back to Sugar Shack maybe? They weren't bad, a little crispy but the flavor wasn't strong.Definitely a cool experience. I might not pay $20 for the zero proof experience itself but I would come back for their food and cocktails because I would say it was all on point.

My husband and I really enjoyed our dinner here! The cocktails were handcrafted and delicious, and the chicken sandwich had a great balance of flavor and crispy. The service was also top notch. I appreciated the attention to detail. Would recommend for a chill date night or cocktails.

Wow, what a great neighbor for Captain Gregory's. In an unassuming row of stores on a busy Henry Street, you will find a modern minimalist setting and be prepared for a great experience and some very tasty libations and noshes. The bartender, or should I say, master mixologist, has signature cocktails he can spin up and be sided with some awesome smalls. Special shout out to the bar team as well; friendly, fun and making everyone feel at home and important! Our first time in and we went for the Waygu based on a Rye with a black pepper and maple bitters concoction. Oh so good! The Cabbage Pancake was also delicious. Served as a Japanese style treat it sports endamame, shaved sprouts, fennel, pickles and the aforementioned cabbage.lightly adorned with balsamic and Japanese mayo; you will be salivating for this if you sit next to a patron who has this instead of you. While we were here early, we will be back for the Birds options as the Duck Confit and Banh Mi look awesome!Welcome to the neighborhood!

My wife (vegetarian) and I wanted to try out this place after seeing some it's social media posts. We stopped off for Friday happy hour, and we're not disappointed.Pros: awesome staff and service, chill atmosphere, and a locally owned business in Old Town North. Additionally, outstanding cocktails and ambience. Very Asian influenced cocktails and a limited menu with East Asian focus. We had the Pine and Hibiscus cocktails, with corn nuts. Yes, they have corn nuts. All three were delicious. My biggest issue is pricing: the happy hour menu didn't have any discernible difference in pricing from the regular menu. And overall pricing seemed a bit high for comparable tapas/cocktail spots.

Loved the vibe and music here. Both appetizers I tried were so tasty, we cleaned our plates. Simple bar foods that were elevated with umami flavors. Bartender was mad cool, and made a delicious cocktail.

Came for Happy hour on a Friday around 5:30p or so and there were plenty of seats (indoor and outdoor). We were greeted instantly and brought menus. Overall, we would definitely be back becuase the drink quality is just as great as their sister Bar Captain Gregory's, which we love, without the wait. The food offerings are great to accompany the drinks. We got the spiral fries which are addicting! The banh mi sandwich is also good. If you have room for something sweet, try their yuzu donut for subtle sweet and savory flavors. The cucumber cocktail is delicious and balanced and I would highly recommend if you are a gin lover.I do wish there were greater differences in price in the happy hour menu and the standard menu for the cocktails.

This place is so solid! You literally can't go wrong with any of the inventive cocktails--I don't even need to list the drinks I had (ok I will, the Pine and the Sesame) because the others I didn't have were probably equally as good. For food, I got the tots and the Banh Mi chicken sandwich--super satisfying, with an Asian twist with the sauce on both. I would definitely come back here again and try the other apps and sandwiches!

Great intimate vibe. Kind and knowledgeable bartender. Located where Sugar Shack used to be in the shared space with Captain Gregory's (my old fave speakeasy). There wasn't anything exclusively vegan listed but I was given a couple of items I could alter to make them so. Because I only came in for a small bite and a drink with a girlfriend, I got the Brussels and left off the cheese. They were very tasty. On a scale of all the Brussels I've had out and about, they rank top 3. As for drink options, they only had one mocktail, a zero proof Negroni, and it wasn't my favorite but only because I'm not fond of a Negroni, the drink itself was good if you enjoy them. It was made in house with a neat method and the ice cube was so classy with a pineapple etched in. Price was on the upper end of standard but not outside my comfort zone for the quality. I'd still go back again. There is a parking garage around the side of the building (free if under an hour) and street parking (which is harder to obtain and located on a busy street.) Only gave 4 starts because no exclusively vegan items and only one mocktail, otherwise it would've been a 5.
