Came to Prima for their drunk spelling bee event. Really funny concept and had a fun time. I'm not sure what Prima is typically like but we definitely hit a few snags. We made a reservation which was totally unnecessary, there were no tables to actually sit at but the place did fill up fast.We ordered food and drinks at the bar and were a little confused if we were supposed to wait at the bar or if they would bring stuff to us. They don't give you a number so while they brought over our food, we had to go back to the bar to pick up our drinks.Food was just okay. Average fries, super salty crabcake sliders but everything was piping hot which was great.Happy hour goes until 10pm which would be great if they charged you for happy hour. Ended up paying full price for all my cocktails even though they charged me happy hour prices for food. Didn't notice until I left so there was no point in making a fuss about it. The drinks were fabulous and super strong. I'll assume the happy hour charges were an oversight so it's a great deal for cocktails during happy hour generally.Vibes were great. This place is pretty casual with hookah and great music. They also have a few tvs if you want to watch the game. Very communal vibe and I got the sense many were regulars. My biggest complaint is that the toilets didn't flush and the sink was clogged.I think if Prima made some simple changes like giving you a number if you order food at the bar, having more staff to decrease wait times/have more people run food and drinks to tables, and fixed the bathrooms I'd be more inclined to come back.Loved the event and loved the drinks so I would definitely recommend coming for it and hope Prima works out some of the snags since they seem to have a nice atmosphere going.

I love Prima DC! This is one of the cutest and chic lounges I found in DC ! It's right across from the 930 club in DC. Prima is located on the 2nd floor and District sports is on the lower level. More importantly, the owners Bethel and Matt are a joy to partner with! I recently partnered with Prima DC for a Thursday happy hour event . Throughout the whole planning process, they were in communication, customized my needs and understand bringing people together! Where else in DC can you find a classy happy hour that starts at 6pm and ends at 10pm???? Where else is there a covered patio ??? From the decor, to the couch, hookah, dj. Drinks, and bar food. I can't wait to go back!

Location is nearly directly across from the 930 club, next to the gas station. There is also a small parking garage across the street for $20Upstairs area (so be prepared to walk up via a skinny stairwell). The food is apparently prepared from the restaurant below. They also have hookah. Good. The Bartenders were the best part of the whole experience. They were so nice, patient, helpful and sociable!!! I had the Beehive drink and it was so refreshing!!!Chairs/couches were plush and comfortable. There was also an outdoor rooftop area. It was kind of warm inside. Bathrooms are single stalls and in a tight area by the stairwellDope music Playlist and live DJ. At times, the music got too loud and I couldn't really hear over everyone I was talking to.There's games to play (UNO, Jenga, etc.) so you could really hang out with friends, play games, chat, drink, and smoke hookah. All in one stop!Had a good time at this business and I will be back!!

Finally, a lounge with the right floor plan. DJ on a platform and in a corner, comfy couches around the edges, private room to the side, wall to wall bar directly across the entrance, and bathrooms near the doorway so you can spot right away.I was there for a special event. It's located diagonal from the 9:30 Club corner, next door to rendezvous, and up some steep stairs. This block of Florida Ave was closed that night (routine?) so it took a while to find. Use the 9:30 Club address and it should help you get there easier, regardless. Nice decoration! It has a fairy forrest feel with the usual lime lights. Wooden floors were so good to dance on. Clean too which was a plus. I recommend for dancing events with a controlled amount of guests. I did not look up the capacity but it looked like maybe 40 can dance there comfortably. The bartenders were all young beautiful black women with a lighthearted attitude. They danced with us on their to and from. I had the classic margarita and it was good. Small plastic cups was not my cup of tea ( ) so perhaps they could up the size and get better quality materials. Plenty of black bar napkins. Loved that. The lady's restroom was clean all night, single toilet and a bit small. It smelled like nothing and it had a complementary mint basket.

If I could give NO star I would. I'm here now and have been for about 45 mins. It's extremely slow and the bartender has only been over once to give me a menu. She stated that she would be back in a couple of minutes and have yet to return. Instead, I've watched her pour shots for her friends and neglect the other patrons who are not seated at the bar and not her friends. Extremely rude and unprofessional'n

This is one of my favorite little lounge spots in the city. They're open from Thursday to Sunday and its a great ambiance and vibe due to its dim lighting, r&b and hip-hop playlists, and its modern decor. You walk in up the stairs and there's the main bar with a couple tv's behind it and several couches and sofa chairs surrounding. They also have a nice side patio area as well. The overall location itself is convenient just off the main stretch of the u street corridor across from the 9:30 club. Service here is usually flawless the bartenders are very attentive and engaging, and as a bonus they make very good drinks. They also have a solid hookah selection and a few food items as well. So if you're looking for a simple spot for a low-key date night, a spot to meet up to start your night, or simply just gathering a few friends together, I highly recommend checking them out.

I was happy to come by and check out this new spot in the city. I was curious to see what this lounge had to offer. Here are some thoughts:EnvironmentPrima might be hard to miss if it weren't for a sign on the door that leads you upstairs to a cozy intimate space filled with plenty of seating, a bar and an outside area for the cooler evenings. They also have a larger bar/restaurant downstairs (didn't get a chance to check it out). The vibe was set as soon as you enter the space - music playing, bar active and conversation flowing through out the venue. While you're treating yourself to a drink they also have a variety of games you can play from mancala to jenga to uno etc. The space is small and seems to be great place for happy hour. I would love to see what its like during a packed night. I will also say that it gets really warm in the space with a lot of people - i was lucky enough to have a seat at the bar right next to the ac but that could be an issue if a ton of people are there. Overall the space was nice and casual and a great place for drinks.ServiceThe bartenders were all great and attentive and made sure that I had what I needed. They were friendly and personable and had great energy for the space. They also controlled the playlist for that evening and didn't disappoint.Food and DrinksDidn't get a chance to try all of the food but there were a few options. The chicken tenders were okay. Nothing special - lives up to the usual bar food expectation. The wings were pretty good especially the garlic parmesan. I would definitely come back for those. The drinks were pretty good. I tried the smokey sunset that was good and refreshing and I also purchased my own old fashion that were solid for a lounge.OverallWe had a good time at Prima Lounge. The space was comfortable and cozy and seemed like it would be a good time for an evening out or an happy hour. The food was fine and the drinks were solid. I would definitely visit again with friends.

it's hard for Prima to miss, literally. This a spot with great vibes and ambiance. I've had a couple great nights out here and they haven't disappointed yet. The staff is super friendly and helpful, Bria is such a great bartender & the food -- *flips bob*. Whoever is in the kitchen, be in the KITCHEN, ya hear me? I've had the crab fries at Prima more times than I can count and they get the job done each time. The old bay wings? Cooked to perfection, somebody tell Keith to pull up. I promise, Prima will not disappoint. Can't wait for more nights here.
