Potomac Grocer

Stopped by the Potomac Grocer while in the area for an appointment today. Surprisingly of all the food spots in the area, this was one of the highest Yelp ratings. Looking at the reviews, I saw that the place offered take-home meals as well as a deli. Apparently people loved the chipotle chicken salad sandwich, so I decided that was going to be the thing to try.I wasn't super blown away, I found the chicken to be a bit dry and bland. But I will say man did they PACK that sandwich with chicken! I mean they did not skimp! I also saw one review that mentioned getting it on a baguette so I did, although personally I found the bread to be a bit hard. BTW the chipotle is SPICY! But I do have a low spice tolerance so take that with a grain of salt. They had another option for the chicken salad which was the tarragon, as well as lots of other deli sandwiches. I was curious to try the soup of the day, potato leek soup, but decided not to get it. They had a variety of packaged soups and salads along the refrigerator. It seemed like a pretty popular place on a Sunday afternoon, so while I didn't love the chicken salad sandwich personally, maybe they have some other yummy options.

Sandwiches were amazing. Staff was helpful. My son and I located it while in the area looking for something locally owned.

The high quality butchered meats and seafood is so well prepared and fresh that it almost looks fake. The prepared foods, sandwiches, salads and pizza are also excellent.

Love this place. Always great! Been coming here for 10 years. Max really knows his Seafood . Their pre-made Entrees are fabulous. Chicken Parmigiana., Crab cakes, Meat Loaf and Citrus Salmon. Potato fingerlings, Potato Salad, Coke slaw. Can't go wrong for a good Sunday Dinner. Great employees. I am spoiled. Went by Organic Butcher in McLean and walked out. Terrible service there.

Small but excellent selections at a relatively ok price!Caesar salad is really the best to be had in Potomac. Several very good prepared food selections, a small but good selection of beer and wine. If you can't put together a pretty good meal from the selections ...you might need to move to a more diverse area!Price wise -- far better than "River Falls" on the other side of River Road. Friendly staff, good selections that taste great, what more could you want?

This was a pleasant pit stop on the way to the Glenstone Museum. My son and I were satisfied after splitting a sub and chips. My son also enjoyed the soup of the day, and I had a caprese salad on the side, which wasn't special but still tasty. I'd stop back in to check out the rest of their selections.

For the amount I paid for these shrimp I'm absolutely disgusted. They're the DRYEST shrimp on planet Earth. I've never seen such nice jumbo shrimp be cooked to leather like this. I'm pretty sure they took the cocktail shrimp (which are obviously cooked) and grilled them (double cooked) because the guy reassured me that they were just cooked today when I asked if there were any fresher ones because I was skeptical. The char isn't even proper. It turns sandy in your mouth like you're chewing charcoal ash.I tried to be optimistic and drown them in cocktail sauce, but they still taste like gritty cardboard covered in sauce.I wish I could return them but I drove 40 minutes so it's not worth it. This was our go to picnic place and seafood dinner place but the whole family agrees, when you charge top dollar, you can't lie to the customer. Any chef would taste one and know they're ruined.

Love this place--a small but eclectic selection of really nice fish, steaks, and a prepared foods counter that kicks butt. Their takeaway pizzas and sandwiches are also great, as are their salads. People are very service-oriented, too.

Just excellent. a wide variety of well prepared food and the meat and seafood selections are second to none. Friendly place.
