Do not give this place your business. Food is terrible. They add a $10 tip to each bill . I left a $5 tip and they followed me out to my car making threats. The band is usually good. Never going back to this business. Recommend you go to other places for good music and dancing,

Went to have a fun night out with family and that's what we did. The band is great. The DJ is fun. Everyone goes to dance and rejoice! Great evening overall! Take cash for the admission fee. Parking can be a bit tight.

I'm excited to hear Portales is re-opening October 2nd with a dinner time offering. My favorite dish here is the pique macho. Seared, soft juicy, thick cut (sirloin tips?) steak in its own savory sauce, with fresh vegetables, sausage and complemented with delicious steak fries. Looks simple, tastes great and with some sneaky bite to it! Portales has an authentic Bolivian vibe and typically has live band upstairs for the post dinner entertainment. The downstairs is a separate vibe.I've also come here for the past two New Years and you'll find all ages on the floor. My only regret... NO Pique Macho on New Years

BEST dance spot in the DMV. The band is REALLY good. Nice sized dance floor. Mature crowd. LOTS of cumbia. Also salsa, bachata, merengue. Food is good too! Pique is really good. Wings too. Wish they were open more often!!

Portales became one of my most favorite Latin Restaurant and Nightclubs in April, 2000. I am a latin dancer so I love the music and dancing. Portales has a romantic atmosphere which makes your experience very enjoyable. Great staff and very classy place. Food is alright. Service is slow. I think the food is overpriced. We are at the lounge in the basement. I ordered empanada. I had better ones than the ones they serve there.

I brought some friends looking to have a good time but I was treated very poorly by manager Saul Melgares. There was confusion about the two different Portales at the same address. Please be aware there is a 'restaurant/dance club' Portales and an 'underground' Portales with a separate entrance so make sure don't fall into paying twice for entering. I wish management would communicate better with staff downstairs and treat customers with respect. I spent about $40 there but I am sure it will be a one time experience, not looking forward going there again.The bartenders, band and service employees were good but the manager is agressive and confrontational.

they need to invest in costumer service training bad...to every single employee of this place if they want to keep in this business

came out to celebrate a family members birthday. overall the atmosphere is amazing great music, but that's as far as that goes. Not only do they not give you the right food but charge you for something more expensive and don't think you will get FREE REFILLS with soda no they will charge you $2/drink! We ordered a $10 app and somehow left the night with a lost of $97. First and last experience here. Y'all can keep robbing other people this way your business shows that you guys aren't doing things right.

I'm so glad I tried this restaurant after it reopened tonight! Parking was free and ample, service was excellent and the food was worth the drive! I ordered the pique macho which was a very generous proportion while my partner ordered the bandeja which he loved. Definitely check this place out even if you've never tried it. The drinks were on point too if you don't want to have a meal. I loved the pina colada and my friend's peach margarita looked yummy too.
