Planta does vegan food so well!!I've been here numerous times and they truly don't miss on great quality plant based food that doesn't lack flavor - which is key! If you haven't been the bang bang broccoli is a must, along with all their rice dishes and the seasonal menu items are always great. I will say the sushi doesn't wow me so I'd skip. Service is always amazing, everyone is truly so friendly and the entire restaurant has such a cute and trendy aesthetic so what's not to love. Can't recommend this place enough - even for the meat eaters you have to come try atleast once!

These reviews have to be fake or maybe we hit an off night but wow my dining experience here was one of my worst ever in DC.We ordered drinks, one came just before the check did, the other never came. (To be fair, waitress comp'ed them because "they were taking forever" but still). The food was truly awful. The udon noodles in mushroom truffle sauce were drowning in water and had zero taste at all, other than stale water. Handheld sandwich was overcooked.Service was spotty at best. Server was trying her best but clearly had too many tables or was distracted, so long waits for just about anything.Food - AwfulBar Drinks - Awful/MissingService - BadAnd for all that, the pricepoint is extremely high even for DC. What a joke of an establishment.

Walking in to Planta, the decor is inviting and the music is upbeat. This is one of two restaurants from this company, I think that the other is on the West End. The location of Planta Cocina is great, at the corner of P and 15 Street, down the street from Whole Foods. Parking is a bit of a challenge, there's not much on street parking and the nearby lots are expensive. Our first impression of the food was really positive. It felt like this would be more than just formula food. Our appetizers included Bang Bang Brocholi which was reasonably good though a bit fried. The sauce was spicy and interesting. Other reviewers have suggested the Queso Fundido and so we ordered it. It is really rich, too much for just 2 people; though the chips were pretty good. We also chose the Poke Bowl which was a disappointment. The entrees included the Maitake Mushrooms. This was probably the best dish we ordered and the Torched and Pressed. This was a sushi type dish. OMG. The rice was absolutely horrible, mushy and tasteless. Nearly inedible. Really? What an embarrassment. Our server was perfectly friendly and helpful. But it was a cold day and our food was served within a 5 minute period. The result was that most of it was cold when we finally started eating it.There are lots of really worthwhile places to eat in the District. This is not one of them.

Had an amazing time at Planta with my friend Patricia! We sat at the bar and had top-notch service--our bartender was super attentive and made great recommendations. The drinks were on point--balanced, flavorful, and beautifully presented. We went for the sushi flight and some appetizers, and everything was fresh, creative, and packed with flavor. The ambiance was stylish yet welcoming, making it the perfect spot for a fun and delicious night out. Definitely adding this to my go-to list for great vegan dining!

I never knew plants could be so exciting. This place is a must for those on a plant-based diet (or even if you are not ). Located on the corner beside a Whole Foods Market, this whole food (see what I did there--dad joke) place did not disappoint with its take on traditional meat-based dishes. I had the lettuce wraps and beef and broccoli, and I will tell you they both were good, but the beef and broccoli were exceptional. As a meat eater, I was skeptical about something claiming to taste just like meat, but after seeing the food presented and having the first bite, it tasted like an excellent beef and broccoli dish. Ambiance:The restaurant is very trendy with its chic and unique decor. I had a bar seat because the entire restaurant was booked, the seating was a little bit tight at the bar however, the service and friendliness of the staff and customers alike certainly made up for it. They have two all-gender restrooms, which does cause a little bit of wait and could probably use a little more attention given the excessive use of patrons, but certainly not something that would deter me from returning to this place. The food What can I say? The beef and broccoli were truly exceptional and something I would definitely order again. It was seasoned perfectly. The tofu was light and absorbed the flavor of the beautiful sauce. The broccoli was cooked perfectly--not mushy, not too raw, not al dente, but truly perfectly cooked broccoli. The star of the dish--the mushroom that was made to taste like and look like beef--truly blew me away. The lettuce wraps were good, and the bibb lettuce was very nice, a nice change from the PF Chang iceberg lettuce. The sauce with the lettuce wrap was a perfect complement to the freshness of the ingredients used in making it.The portion size was great, and the meal overall was very filling. While I didn't have a cocktail, they looked fantastic, and I will try them again on another visit.

No surprise that this place is extremely popular. The service, aesthetically pleasing ambiance, and amazing food makes it an easy fan favorite! The bang bang broccoli was AMAZING, highly recommend and will definitely be ordering again. The drinks were delicious, special shout out to Francesca, Sarge, and Miles who serviced us at the bar--you all were awesome tonight!

Another worthy recommendation which I learned about after dining at their other restaurant, PLANTA Queen. Here we go! This restaurant gives off a classic Manhattan vibe in DC and as a New Yorker, I enjoyed every moment of it. Modern decor, romantic look with the ambiance to draw in diners. For drinks, I ordered the lychee Paloma from their happy hour menu and it was indeed a refreshing must have. For appetizers we ordered: QUESO FUNDIDO- cashew mozzarella, salsa macha, crudite, tortilla chipsThoughts: ORDER 2 of these if you plan on sharing because the taste will force you to keep indulging lol. It was absolutely divine from start to finish and I almost forgot that I wasn't eating cheese. The fresh tortillas were an added bonus but the dip had an amazing burst of flavors-I highly recommend! For dinner we shared: AL PASTOR BOWL- cilantro lime rice, grilled pineapple, potato chorizo, avocado, pico de gallo, chipotle cremaGUAJILLO CRAB CAKE- hearts of palm, creamed spinach, cilantro cabbage slawSWEET CORN CAVATELLI- chile de árbol, zucchini, basilThoughts: The crab cake was memorable and the flavors were *chefs kiss* We actually ordered another one for the table because it was that good. Note however that you may want to order something in addition to the crab cake because while it was delicious, the serving size was rather small. Next memorable eat, the Al Pastor bowl. This was a creative way to pair foods. The serving size was rather generous so I'd recommend that you order this only if you plan on sharing but don't attempt to consume it alone- you'll end up in a food coma lol Least favorite was the sweet corn cavatelli which we sent back because it was too salty. Overall, I think that the PLANTA chains are slowlyyyyy winning me over to the no meat side lol. Reasonable prices, good service, quality food, and the perfect place for dinner with friends or a special someone.

Walked in holiday weekdays for dinner and sat immediately at the bar. Bartender was super sweet and gave good recs. Place is pretty enough for date night, casual enough for a family meal with small kids. Got an assortment of small plates to share. Saw a handful of "mains" but skipped to gave more variety.

Prefacing that I ordered via their app and pick up. Their app makes it so easy to order and they are so quick with making their food. Great location on P and inviting as soon as you walk in. The host (so sorry I didn't get your name, but you were so sweet!) greets you and makes sure you have what you need. I have a food allergy and they were kind enough to check for me to make sure I didn't have a reaction. The decor is inviting and warm. You can tell that it is part of the PLANTA group, but a little different than the other locations. Plenty of seats and felt perfectly cosy. Very good food and need to frequent this location more. The horchata cheesecake is amazing. Perfectly rich and not overwhelming flavor or heavy.

After visiting plant Queen in New York over the years, I was excited to have the restaurant in DC. This restaurant used to be a Spanish restaurant, and keeping with that theme, there are more Spanish options on this menu. The decor is very modern, nice ambiance. The service was excellent! We ordered multiple drinks and liked all of them. We also really enjoyed the special role for the season that had caviar on top. I ordered the Chilaquiles, which were really good. My friends loved their dishes as well. The pumpkin cheesecake at the end was really good!I definitely want to return for dinner to try that menu.
