Pines of Rome Express

I had the spaghetti with meatballs last week which was not good- probably 2/5 stars. I'd go with Ledo for inexpensive pasta in the area. That said, I know the owner so I wanted to try their pizza before giving a full review, which I did today. Better than their spaghetti, but not remarkable.

Was excited for Pines of Rome Express to open so I could get some white pizza. It was ok. I think my memory of the white pizza from the Bethesda location grew in my head over the years cause the pizza was just ok. $18.50 for a 13" white pizza - I ordered two online and it was over $40 after fees. That's for picking it up. The flavor was minimal. Could definitely do with more seasoning. This location has a couple tables inside, and a small patio in front. The hours on Saturday is a bit weird cause they don't open until 2PM. Maybe this is temporary hours until they're fully up and running. There's plenty of parking since Bed, Bath & Beyond is empty.

You know when someplace just *smells* like an old school pizzeria? That's what you get here. Was immediately hit by nostalgia for 1980s casual pizza joints when I walked in. Off Rockville Pike, near Congressional, but tucked away in a quiet corner of the shopping center where the closed Bed Bath & Beyond is located. Hence very easy parking and a very laid back feel.Pizza was just allllright tho. Hence the 3/5. I had white pizza.

For those who miss the pizza you ate in Italy, anywhere in Italy, this is for you. We love the white and the red pizzas so much that we haven't yet tried anything else. But we will. If it's anything like the restaurant in Bethesda, we'll love it just as much.

Love the white with fontina. Get it crispy or when u get it home 5 mins at preheated 450 oven. It's The best.

Pizza was awful. Very spicy. It was cold and rubbery. The white beans were like they opened a can and dumped them. I won't be ordering from them again

I was excited about trying this place out. It was okay. We got 2 large pizzas with standard toppings (pepperoni/green peppers + sausage/onions) as a base to compare to other places. The crust is a bit thinner than what I was expecting and the overall taste was good but not wow good. They do charge a 3% surcharge if you use credit card so just beware. I would try their other stuff next time but this won't be our "go-to" pizza joint.

Pines of Rome Express delivers on the Pines of Rome experience. I recommend getting the white pizza with fontina...Then order some marinated red peppers.Put the red peppers on the pizza.Perfect!

Limited menu, but just as good as the original location in Bethesda. I wish they were open longer hours but it's absolutely worth it when I can make it in for a takeout order.

The pizza is as good as Bethesda, so thankful to have it closer to home. When the get the Pasta Fagioli on the menu I will be ecstatic.
