So we ordered a cake, in person, for my son's birthday a week ago. Here we are today and there is no cake, and no apology. I really want to help local businesses but this kind of service makes it hard. So I would not recommend this place and I am not coming back.

I live in the neighborhood and this was one of the bakerys I used to go to buy sweet bread, buy unfortunately I am very dissapointed. A couple times that I've been there I have seen fruitflies inside the display cases and cockroaches too. The worst part was when I told the lady about bacause she care nothing about the fact thay bugs were climbing on the bread. I truly believe they need a costumer lesson because their service is horrible, they always seem to be rushing you to get you out of there. I ask management to keep an eye on their employees because this comes from an ex costumer , and I am not the only one, I have heard other people comment about situations similar to mine, and we won't be back unless there os a change in costumer service and quaility.

This is a small latinx bakery filled to the brim with pastries, breads and cakes at affordable prices. The people working and the customers are all very friendly and will happily make recommendations and explain what everything is. There is limited signage so you will need a little help the first time. I bought my friends birthday cake here. It was a wonderful hot pink vanilla cake with peach purée separating the layers. It was really moist and tasty and every liked it. The frosting was a little artificial tasting due to all the food coloring but was still good. Worth a try if you are in the neighborhood!

Best tres leches cake in the entire city. Heck, this is the best cake in DC period. Best $4.95 I've ever spent, no joke. This huge slice of cake is topped with Keewee and or grapes, depending on the day. They keep it in the refrigerator next to the main counter. Come early because slices go fast! And be warned, the milk weeks, so be sure to carry a plastic bag by the knot. AccessibilityWoman who runs the counter only speaks Spanish. Outdoor tables are plentiful and wheelchair accessible. One or two steps down into the shop itself. Neighborhood has curb cuts and sidewalks throughout.

Boo, I wanted to be first! But, it's good to see there are more fans of this place on yelp than i thought. Because you know, in addition to any civic brownie points for frequenting mom and pops in the neighborhood, the more customers here, the fresher the goods will be!The prices here are SO low you can afford to try out every different style of baked good. When I just want coffee and a pastry, I come here. If I need space to study, I go elsewhere as this place is small and only has 2 tables with a few chairs near the window. There are usually one or two other patrons hanging out.The baked goods go stale pretty quickly, which isn't a bad thing and I like to think is a sign of freshness and not being filled with tons of preservatives and ingredients you can't pronounce (which I can't guarantee for Starbucks down the street). It does encourage you to eat them immediately!

Oh my goodness is this place a find. As Andrew W. notes the selection really is astounding but then confused by the lack of signage. Lots of items are in the 'who knows' areas if it's your first time bumping up against them. Unfortunately I don't speak any Spanish and the lovely woman who helped me with my purchase only knew the names and ingredients en Español. I got some bread pudding and a chocolate chip cookie. Both were simply delicious and the combined cost was a mere $2.15.I'm also really excited about the freshly baked bread. I've been fantasizing about a real bakery coming into the area and this might be even better.Stop by the next time you're hiking over to Taqueria Distrito Federal. You won't be disappointed.

Lots of options to choose from and very fair/cheap prices! The pan was fresh and very well made. Some of the best pan dulce we have had. Definitely the best in DC that I have tried.
