Oyster Oyster blew away all expectations. Unique, delicious, surprising, and welcoming - I have not had a better dining experience in 15 years living in DC. From the warm and friendly staff (Midya was so nice) to the knowledgeable chefs and service, everything was perfect. We sat at the kitchen counter. The vibe is comfortable and not at all pretentious. But the service was phenomenal. There are many courses, and the amount of food left us full and satisfied. There were some courses that "look" like it may taste like something familiar but plays a trick on your brain once your taste buds hit realization. This is my new favorite restaurant in DC, and I will be recommending it to all of my friends.

A wonderful vegetarian Michelin experience that left us both full and satisfied. I was excited that my partner was able to snag a reservation at Oyster Oyster especially as we're kicking off our year with a meat-free and dry January. The restaurant recently rolled out their late winter menu exploring ferments and we were wowed by every dish. My favorites were the main course-- loved the lions mane mushroom-- and the mochi dessert. We had the kombucha to drink. Service was wonderful and personable. 10/10 experience!

*Note: I am reviewing Oyster Oyster having attended a special tasting experience here - Trés Veg - which featured Latin American cuisine and corn. Oyster Oyster is a lovely, small restaurant in Shaw. As noted above, the menu when I went was different than their normal one, but I still feel I got a glimpse into their approach to food and service. The service was outstanding - courteous and helpful and attentive without feeling like too much. As for the food, it was fresh and clearly made with care. The welcome broth was outstanding and set the bar for the rest of the meal. The flavors were deep and well-developed, especially in the mole. I can't wait to return to try their more "traditional" menu!

A fantastic experience! Such a great ambiance and friendly staff. I sat at the chef's counter and the service was a delight and personable. The meal was absolutely delicious--one of the best I've had recently. I never knew a salad, celery root or a shiitake cookie could be so flavorful. With a James Beard award and Michelin Star, Oyster Oyster is definitely worth a try.

Stellar vegetarian Michelin dining experience!! Making a reservation here was one of the best decisions we made before going on this trip. The tables were all booked! The space was really thoughtful as well, complete with oyster candles and a bag holder to boot. Service was down to earth yet professional, food was literally art and yummy, we cleaned off all our plates! To top it off, they had the best dessert complete with mochi balls. I can't describe the menu as well as these pictures can but it left me wanting more..and they always rotate the menus. It's worth the experience.

An outstanding Michelin star restaurant and the ideal of what a Michelin star restaurant should be-outstanding, above-and-beyond service from the moment my friend and I arrived until we left, great ambiance, innovative food, presentation, and plating, and phenomenal food taste.Oyster Oyster changes its menu seasonally, so my friend and I had the fall menu served between late September and late December (see picture below). Highlights included the harvest salad (one of the five best salads I've ever had), the celeriac taco, the sweet potato dumplings, and the poached quince.Although expensive (everything prepaid online), Oyster Oyster was worth every dollar. I highly recommend for your next very special occasion!

What does one of the country's best new restaurants look like - a vegan Michelin-starred restaurant that sources local ingredients and has a seasonal menu. Oyster Oyster more than lived up to the accolades. The menu was creative with each dish full of interesting flavors sourced within the region. The staff was extremely friendly, welcoming, and attentive. Despite a packed restaurant, it was very clearly that the staff operated as a team ensuring you had what you need (and anticipating needed- my water was never empty and they were on the ready with my orders). I felt like I had multiple conversations with staff and was able to get their perspective on dishes - this truly added to the experience.I did not know what to expect with the food as I admittedly need to eat at more vegan-focused restaurants. I was really impressed with the flavors of each dish and how each seemed to build on the prior one. I left comfortably full while also craving more of each dish.If you want to get close to the action, I recommend bar seating as you get a firsthand look into the preparation and team making magic.

Great vegetarian michelin restaurant! Almost all of the dishes served here are vegetarian with the exception of an oyster that they serve during the first course. Th oyster was dressed with kimchi juice, the kimchi juice was very fresh and not fermented enough for my liking, thus I think you're not missing anything if you were to skip the oyster. They have a vegan option as well which many people opted in to. We were very full by the end of the meal! Our favorite dishes were the broccoli bread and the asparagus with ramps, this was to die for! Second favorite was the pumpkin seed gnocchi which was very hearty and filling (served with a fennel salad on top so it was very well balanced).Since it was my birthday, they gave me a bowl of little porcelain mushrooms which I was able to pick one and take home with me! The chefs serve and introduce the dishes to you so you get the most detail about the dishes which was a great touch.

Theres a parking garage right next door so we didnt have any issues finding a parking spot. A smaller space than expected so if you do show up early, you'll likely have to wait outside or take a quick walk around the block like we did. When we did come back, our table was still being prepared but that was probably the bumpiest part of the evening. A quiet and quaint little space, it was definitely cozy. They have mocktails and wine but only 2 options for beer which was a little disappointing but the wine recommended ended up being perfect for me.The food was definitely the highlight and I was pleasantly surprised at how flavorful and amazing everything was. I really loved the lions mane and we were all very full by the end of the night. We were sent home with a copy of the menu and my mother in law got a little keepsake for her birthday. I would definitely recommend coming here to try something a little different than the other Michelin restaurants and just in general!

My husband and I are big meat eaters, but we really enjoyed their vegetarian-predominant menu. At $135/person, you can choose between an all-vegetarian menu or to substitute one of the amuse bouches with a raw oyster (the seafood kind). I am not a fan of raw oysters, so opted for the all-vegetarian menu. Each course had unique flavors and textures. It was really fun to try foods from different preparations. For a restaurant that serves mostly seasonal fungi and vegetables, I was not expecting so many preserved vegetables. They all tasted good, so no complaints there. With the multiple courses, the meal was actually pretty filling. The most unique item I saw there? The oyster shell candles.
