Let's be clear. Oriental Express is what it is -- a takeout joint specializing in bland, American-style Chinese food. It's what you might get to feed a family on a budget when you're too tired to cook and want leftovers for the next day.That being said, the quality is quite good, the prices are reasonable, the portions are good, and as a bonus, they will customize any dish any way you like (sauce, spice level, etc.). The dishes we've tried here have generally been UNDERseasoned -- that is, they could use a little more salt, MSG, soy sauce, garlic, whatever the dish calls for. But hey, I can fix that. It's harder to fix OVERseasoned food.

TL;DR: Specifically ordered here because a few recent good reviews are clearly bots or AI generated. Wanted to add a human review, so we ordered a mix. Was mediocre at best.Fried rice: tasted funny. Can't pinpoint what it was, but I couldn't eat it with the strange aftertaste. Threw it away. Normally if fried rice is mid I'll just use it as a base to cook my own, but this was tossed. Sweet and Sour Chicken: flashback to the 90s. Not overly battered. Would've been crispy without being up against rice, which steamed it. Sauce was thick, very throwback. Separate packaging would've made a big difference.Egg Rolls: had visible whole shrimp, and meat. Was surprising. Not bad, but it's also not my favorite type. If you like that, I recommend trying it.Hot and Sour Soup: gelatinous, which I hate. Really fresh mushrooms, though. Those were great.Wonton Soup: crazy artificial yellow colored broth that tasted of nothing. Oof it pains me to rate so low but this might be the worst Chinese food in the area. I just got back from a long trip and wanted deliverable Chinese food. Ordered sesame chicken dinner combo with crab wontons. Over $25 with delivery just for two things... Chicken is horrible, my two year old won't eat it either. Wontons are ok, egg drop soup is ok but our mason dish is inedible. Don't waste money at this restaurant . Ration of rice to chicken is overwhelming. Super disappointed

This was when he called us back to tell us specifically that the mock beef and broccoli and mock general tso's are made with meat. The food is otherwise really good.
