Old Angler's Inn is a charming spot, perfect for unwinding after a hike at Great Falls. The outdoor seating is especially nice when the weather is good, with a relaxing atmosphere that makes it a great place to sit back and enjoy a meal. The crab cake sandwich is a good choice, with a nice amount of lump crab meat, and the short rib is tender and flavorful. The truffle fries are a tasty side, and the French onion soup is warm and comforting. It's a solid menu with something for everyone.Parking can get busy, especially on weekends, but it's a popular spot, so it's understandable. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and the whole place has a cozy, historic feel that adds to the experience.Overall, it's a nice place to visit if you're looking for a meal in a lovely setting after exploring Great Falls. A good spot to relax and enjoy the scenery!

Old Angler Inn (OAI) is just okay. I see a lot of questions on if they are dog friendly- let me address that first. OAI has a BACK PATIO that is casual, has a separate menu (burgers/dogs/pizza) and is dog friendly. You can kind of walk through the front patio and around the left side to get to the back. We felt super weird though because we had just come off a hike (Billy Goat Trail is across the street!) with our dog and were weaving through folks that were in their Sunday best and eating $50 eggs benedict. Whatever. If it's not too crowded (good luck) and they have the grill going, the back is way less pretentious and casual and good for doggies. Nothing else at the location is dog friendly from what I gathered. The rest of the restaurant is nice. It's not a jeans and sneakers sorta place. It's very expensive and the food is mediocre at best. I do think a lot of people think of OAI as some sort of institution as it's been there forever, but I'm honestly not sure of what their main selling points are outside of their location in Great Falls. We recently went for an 18 person prix fix lunch in their upstairs private room. Now I'm all for a secret passage but they brought our entire group up some crazy rickety spiral stairs where my 6"4 boyfriend could barely move and my cousin was CARRYING HIS NEWBORN IN A CARRIER. Nuts. It took us way too long to get up safely. Once we got settled they mentioned that if it was difficult to get up the stairs, they had a separate entrance on the side- all great- would've been awesome to know that BEFORE hand. Neither way upstairs is ADA compliant or easily accessible for anyone that has trouble with uneven surfaces or steep steps. The service was incredibly subpar. The "boston bibb" salad (which said nothing to it's ingredients at ALL" came dumped with some weird granola on top. I asked if there were peanuts in the granola (I have an allergy- which I mentioned at the beginning) and the server said "probably, but I don't know". yes yes very helpful. I had some kind of beef burgundy which was pretty good- but nothing to get excited about. Their wine list was disappointing. I also get that they're going for this rustic look- but when your gravel parking lot is so muddy and wet that people are ruining their shoes and nearly faceplanting from the ice and puddles- it makes this a restaurant you would NOT want to get dressed up and go to. I see us checking it out the casual back patio after a hike again one day- but it's WAY too expensive for such mediocre food, service and ambience.

Event Hosting ReviewMy husband and I planned to host a small luncheon (32 people) following our wedding ceremony. Because the attendee count was under 40, we thought the best/easiest course of action would be to rent a private room in a nice restaurant. When we learned Old Anglers Inn hosted events, we decided it would be the perfect spot for our reception. WRONG! I'm from MD but currently live in Denver, so my parents acted as "boots on the ground." They offered to meet with Hasina, the Events Manager, and tour the available private rooms. After submitting the event request form on May 5th, Hasina and I set up a phone call for the following week to discuss details. When she didn't call me at the scheduled time, I called her. No one answered and I left a voicemail. When no one called back, I sent an email letting Hasina know that my parents would be coming to OAI for lunch the next day. When my parents got to the restaurant, they were told that Hasina was "in Greece but should be back within the next 2 weeks." After explaining why they were there, someone else, John Reges, offered to give them a tour and answer questions. While John was polite, he didn't know anything about OAI's event policy or private rooms and couldn't answer any questions. Ten days after missing our call, Hasina replied to my email saying she had been out of the country (no apology) but she heard John Reges was able to help my parents. I told her that John couldn't answer any questions and requested we set up another call. She didn't reply. At that point I should have looked for another venue, but my parents liked the food and location, so I submitted another event request form. Hasina reached out, pretending that our previous interactions didn't happen. When we spoke, I felt better about the situation. Hasina explained that the room I wanted was available on July 12th and emailed me with the different menu options. That was my only productive conversation with her. In the following weeks we exchanged emails about the menu, service, and room setup. I would submit a list of questions, and if Hasina replied she would only answer half of them. In one email I said we wanted to do a champagne toast but asked if they had a sparkling cider available for the guests not drinking alcohol. Hasina replied saying, "Yes, we have Angry Orchard." If I called, she wouldn't answer or call back. I tried calling the restaurant, thinking that because I want to give them money and business they would help. Wrong. The manager I spoke to said, "you have to talk to Hasina. No one else can help." Two weeks before our big day, I repeatedly asked Hasina to send me a contract. She never asked for a deposit, so I didn't have any signed/official documentation confirming our event. Five days before the luncheon she emailed the contract and event details. The menu selections were wrong, the anticipated attendee count was wrong, and there were fees that she never previously mentioned. That was the final straw. We lucked out because the restaurant hosting our rehearsal dinner was available for the luncheon. With four days to spare, we switched venues. When I didn't sign Hasina's contract, she was suddenly very available to call and email me. I took a page out of her playbook and waited until the day before our wedding to inform her we would not be hosting our event at Old Anglers Inn. Moral of the story: Regardless of the size, DO NOT use Old Anglers Inn to host your event.

Business in the front, party in the back. My son and I stopped in after hiking and found a casual spot in the back of this adorable inn. Think: live music, Adirondack chairs, tv's, small fire places, order at the bar. Vibes were vibing. The front of the place was charming and had lots of people dressed up for lunch with a giant fire place in the center. When I say giant, I mean gargantuas. Food was steep and not worth the price tag but after a hike it was the closest and kid friendly place around. The chili was delicious. The wagu hotdog was disgusting. Food was prepared quickly and in the back area you serve & bus yourself.

Ask for the server named Greg. Personable and service oriented mindset. Greg was amazing. He recommended drink, appetizers and even a meal. We sat outside next to a gigantic fire pit. We ordered bourbon cider, calamari and burgers for both of us. And it was delicious, the crispy fries definitely recommend. It was our dog's birthday and we were able to order a steak a la carte without any hesitations from Greg. Greg was very accommodating and made it an overall great experience. However, Greg had to go inside and took tables there. The replacement server however... not a good server, night and day difference. No introduction, no recommendations, he just used the phrase "do you need anything else?" And no check backs. If they can figure out the server situation, this place would get a better rating.

We walked to old anglers via the falls overlook trail and it was a really nice break on the walk! The beer garden is really cool, live music, fires and packed with people. You can order food but we were told it takes a while so we just got some beer and enjoyed the ambiance. Would recommend checking it out, but it is on the pricier side!

Criminally overpriced. Average food. Subpar service. We got seated in a very sunny corner of this mostly outdoor establishment and the umbrella barely covered our table. It wasn't busy at all yet they chose this table for us and didn't help us move the umbrella lol. They asked how I wanted my burger and I said rare. It came out looking completely well. A lot of the other dishes were hit and miss where some are enjoyable and others are disappointing and questionably made.Service was abysmal and it's like amateur hour over here. I've gotten better service from fast food restaurants. Food: 4/10 Atmosphere: 6/10 Service: 4/10 Value: 3/10

We had a very nice time. We ate inside and Gregg was our server. He was top-notch very professional and provided a lot of suggestions. I ordered the hamburger and onion soup and my friend ordered the arugula salad and onion soup. The hamburger is very flavorful. It's made with brisket and short rib, the onion soup was very good as well with a rich broth and lots of melted cheese on top. My friends salad had limited cheese so we asked for more. It much flavor with the salad dressing. I would not get it next time. we had the crème brûlée and the chocolate cake for dessert were excellent. There were a lot of people sitting outside a little cold. They were willing to wait 45 minutes. We had a reservation and we're seated right away. Old Anglers is definitely a place to go to with old world charm. We had a Groupon that you could purchase for $50 and get $70 worth of food. We still ended up spending another $100 and that's not drinking for lunch. so $150 all in but it's a beautiful place and we had fun.

Very cute venue with a fountain and gardens in the front. The back area is more casual dining with picnic tables and at times has live music. The servers are attentive. We sat with the band and had light bites. The crab and spinach dips are very good. The margarita pizza had plenty of cheese but was lacking in flavor. A slight garlic, Italian seasoning or something would probably enhance it.

Just had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner. We were a party of eight - the wait staff were attentive, the food exceptional, and of course a great atmosphere. Will definitely be returning again.
