I loved this place. New menu every night? Cozy and sexy for dates? Friendly bartenders who will make something for you if the current menu isn't calling out to ya? OKPB is special. Don't ever change.

I really wanted to love this place after hearing so much about it, but the experience just fell flat. OKPB is a speakeasy in Mount Pleasant. It's fun finding the red door and ringing the doorbell to be let in. Staff was super friendly and the space was cute. Their gimmick is that they have a rotating list of cocktails every night or a bartender's special option where you tell them what sort of things you like and they make a drink for you. This is what they're known for and what I'd had people recommend trying. Unfortunately, it didn't work that way in practice. I asked for a drink made with tequila and got a drink made with rum, the one alcohol I'd asked not to get, that also didn't include the only flavor I'd asked for (coconut, which I feel is not a crazy unusual flavor for a bar to have?). In the end, they weren't confident they could make anything with those components, and I didn't want to have it not work again, so I gave up and just ordered an amaretto sour. I wish they'd just told me they couldn't do it from the beginning instead of bringing me something that was the complete opposite of what I'd asked for. The amaretto sour was good (well, it's a drink I already know I like), but it was just like what I'd get at any other bar. I was kind of sad because I don't think I asked for anything too demanding or out there, and I'm sure they have tequila in the bar, but in the end it didn't come close to anything I'd requested. I wouldn't go back based on my experience. I feel like I paid $16 for a drink I didn't want and that just wasn't that good. I had a good time with friends and the space is cute! There are no reservations and space is limited, so get here early if you do want to try it out. Honestly, though, I can't recommend it. It was a lot of money for what ended up being a pretty negative experience, and there are a lot of better bars in DC. 2.5 stars, rounded down because of the price point vs. quality.

It's the perfect speakeasy! You show up to a black door and wonder if you're at the right spot. Ring the doorbell, wait a few minutes, and then a host will come down to get you. It's a small space, but surprisingly seats quite a few parties. Drinks change, so you'll see the handwritten menu when you get seated. Great service and ambience/lighting. Drinks was excellent!!

Cocktail Bar with Speakeasy vibes + one that meets expectation. Best cocktail bar in DC.First + foremost: Shoutout to Daniel, Thomas, Jacob; the three musketeers behind the incredible experience. We sat at the bar for hours watching them craft + talked shop about everything. Genuine, down to earth, filled with quirky cocktail knowledge. Throwing it out there, they can create absolutely anything; they each have a wild imagination in crafting whatever tasty concoction that also meets what flavor profile you're trying to vision. The Details:*Cucumber infused Water*Votive candles on cocktail trays when serviced your cocktail*old cocktail menus on the ceiling of the bathroom*Everyday new list of cocktails*Everyday they create their own ice blocks, then throughout the night, cut their own ice for each cocktail*Small place, but sit at the bar, make a new friendSure, you may have to wait in line, or drop your name on a list; or like us, waltzed right in on a Sunday night + immediately immersed ourselves in having an incredible experience.

I heard about this place from a friend and it did not disappoint! It took us a while to find this place (as it should!) we got there right when happy hour started because we were a big group and we got seated immediately. The server was very nice and friendly. The menu changes every day but one of the options was bartenders choice where you can tell the bartender what you want and they'll make a drink based on that. My friend ended up going with that option and loved her drink! There is limited seating so I would recommend going with a smaller group. This seems like a great spot for a date or to catch up with a friend! I will definitely be back to try a different menu!

Such a cool little bar! It is first come first serve, so definitely go early and put your names down. They have a rotating menu and make basically any drinks you want if you ask for it. The interior is very small but cozy with tasteful decor. Recommend getting the nuts--they are $4 a ramekin, super fresh and flavorful. We ordered two and absolutely destroyed them. The bar tender probably thought we were there for the nuts, not the drinks

One of my favorite cocktail bars in DC. The service is warm, friendly, informative, and attentive. The cocktails never disappoint. I typically order off menu and tell them I want something with tequila that's sweet or something along those lines. Every concoction they've handed me has been delicious. My favorite part is that I think the pricing is very reasonable. Excellent cocktails at $16 each is not cheap, but it is a great value for what you get. You always get a unique, high-quality drink. It's also never too loud or too dark or anything. I think the main downside is how small they are. I'm usually sat at a tabl reserved for 2, but that they turn sideways into a table for 3. You have to be ready to get cozy in here, but I think it's part of the charm. It's all very no frills, no nonsense in the best way possible.

OKPB would be 5 stars except they messed up one of our Bartender's Choice cocktails.I visited on Sunday at ~7:30 PM and they seated by party of four right away. We got a very cute booth (the only one) in the back. There are also some seats at the bar and some two tops. The menu of the day was pretty short: a rum swizzle, a gin and sherry cocktail, a bourbon cocktail, a riff on French 75, and a rye brandy cocktail. Our waiter suggested we go with the Bartender's Choice, which all four of us did. They did a good job making cocktails based on our description except for one. My companion specifically asked for a drink like the first one on the menu, except sweeter and more like a tiki drink. Instead, he basically got the drink on the menu -- rum, lime, mint, bitters, and crushed iced. Basically, the exact wrong thing. I would have sent it back, but he demurred. But, they shouldn't have gotten it wrong in the first place; the onus is on them, not him. Otherwise, I liked the vibe and the cocktails.

Cool speakeasy with a solid drink list and intimate space. Bartenders were also very skilled at their craft and delivered some great dealers choice drinks. Being from Chicago, I thought the price point was pretty fair for craft cocktails at 16 a glass. The space is not so big so there was a wait time but as long as you get your name on the list, you can hit up a dive bar nearby.

This cocktail bar is great. It has speak easy vibes. They have a bell to ring to be seated inside with minimal seats and a cozy vibe. You will want to get there at 5 when they open or you could be waiting for a while. The cocktails are on the higher side at $16 a piece but they are quality. We had a great experience with all of the staff, especially Thomas. If you're looking for a great cocktail bar, this is your place. I highly recommend the amaretto sour! They can make a variety of drinks outside of the menu but there is a menu available that rotates and changes daily!
