Inside the food hall The Square, Nativo is a go-to coffee shop that creates Latin-inspired coffee and food. Meeting a friend here on a Friday, Nativo's barista was very friendly and seemed passionate about introducing people to Nativo's coffee. The Cafe Bombon was very good. It comes with sweetened condensed coconut milk and nutmeg. The breakfast arepa hit the spot too. It comes with a fried egg, cheese, and a very tasty green sauce. I added bacon to it.Nativo also has sparkling water out for guests, seating, and a little book shelf with books for guests.

I've been making a point to support local and smaller coffee shops whenever I'm out and about for the past year. Even if I wasn't looking for coffee, I rarely pass up a chance to support a new place for me!I happened to be in The Square food hall for lunch but my establishment was not yet open for service. So, I walked around and stumbled upon Nativo Coffee Shop! I had never heard of them before and my eyes lit up with excitement! As I approached the counter, a young lady greeted me with affirmations and showered me with positivity! In today's climate, I'll take all that I can get in that area of my life! The ambiance of this place definitely lived up to the unofficial motto behind the Jamaican flag visible on the countertop. I immediately felt like I had "no worries" here and that made me even more appreciative of supporting this small shop! The menu has something for everyone from unique coffees to delish pastries! I like to venture and try new things. So, I opted to try the Cafe Bombon in decaf, less sweet form. I was already sold when she told me that they make the coconut condensed milk in house! I also grabbed a slice of what looked like a pineapple upside down cake. My coffee was sooo good! I probably drank it within 5 minutes! The taste was smooth and the dash of nutmeg on top was a nice compliment to the hint of coconut from the condensed milk. Also, that cake! Wow! It was delicious! I tried it at room temp and after a quick 10 second trip in the microwave later in the day! I can't wait to return and try something else from the menu! This is a nice addition to the food hall, for sure! I definitely would recommend others to stop by for their next coffee fix, especially knowing that it comes with a sprinkle of endorphin boosters on top!

Think "the Nativo Experience" because wow... I'mJust a traveler passing through to Massachusetts (we take this trip at least once a year) and after trying a dozen coffee shops in DC, this one blew me away.I saw the good reviews but was still skeptical because well, I'm from Portland OR. Lol anyway, needless to say the customer service was exceptional the owner was a true gem. So much love and welcome exuding from the staff. They use LOCAL milk and actually pull a great shot of espresso.. Cherry on top? House made syrups/ flavors and housemade pastries that are to die for. Will be back!!!!

Store inside a beautiful food hall so you have so many options for seating! Menu is pretty limited for a coffee shop, you have your standard drinks, but don't expect any crazy fun flavors or combinations.I wish I could talk about the actual drink I got, but when I went, they were closed for Maintenace and didn't update anything online so we didn't know beforehand:/

Looking for a local shop, we were fortunate to stumble across this one. Here was our experienceAMBIANCE:Parking: Street parking or neighborhood parking. It can get packed so I would recommend to ride share, carpool, or do public transportation.Seating: They have seats for small groups and then it's an indoor plaza so there are seating around the area.Feels: You're a 15-minute walk from the National Mall, so there are a lot of things to do in the area, especially eat. The spot itself has a nice hangout charm and it is close to the subway! I dig the eclectic song choice music, Mayer Hawthorne tunes was what stood out for me.FOOD/DRINKS:Matcha Latte - Bombon Style (Recommend)Great! You have an earthy and creamy taste which was satisfying. What made it stand out was the bombon experience (Jamaican coconut milk). CUSTOMER SERVICE:Nakita was great! Friendly, knowledgable, and quick with the service.TL; DR OVERALL:4.5 Stars. Excellent! Good selections, reasonable price and pleasant experience. The mix of flavors of something different, I was never exposed to the bombon experience but I'm glad I did. There are many coffee shops in DC, this is certainly one to consider! Wishing Nakita and Victor all the best!TIPS:* Remember to Bombon it!

First off, the square is beautiful. I came for morning yoga and my instructor mentioned Nativo, said they have amazing coffee. So naturally after yoga, I went for coffee. I believe it was the owners who were working at the time and they were both so nice and friendly. Told us a little history of their shop, told us their favorites, we talked about real milk vs substitutes . Really amazing people!! The coffee was so good too! Definitely want to come back and try some other things they have.

Coffee Shop No. 397Nativo Coffee ShopThe Square, D.C.August 7, 2024Always search for a coffee shop regardless of your destination or purpose of travel. I learned this lesson when I found Nativo. My favorite pizza spot, Flora Pizzeria, is located at a food court in The Square in D.C. I have been there several times since Nativo opened, but it is around the corner from the main food court so I hadn't noticed Nativo. I am slightly disappointed in myself that I could have let a gem like Nativo go unnoticed for so long. I can't remember why I decided to walk around the corner, but I am glad I did!Nativo is a beautiful blend of Jamaican and Venezuelan flare. The drink that caught my attention on the menu was the Sunshine Latte (espresso, turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, & brown sugar). The gentleman taking my order was very friendly and patient while I decided if I wanted to order a latte. The coffee smelled so delicious I ended up ordering both, which turned out to be a fabulous decision because the latter and cortado were both delicious.

Best coffee shop for SO many reasons. The owners are absolutely lovely. My favorites: all the lattes, the chai, the soups, and the jerk tuna melt sandwich. Great seasonal specials, too. Relaxing space
