I got the basic Florida maki roll and it was fine. It's a very bland looking roll that they did try to liven up with a flower but it needs black sesame or some form of sauce on the top to give it some color. The fish was cold and the crab wasn't overpowering but it needed some spice so next time I'd order something else.Ambiance was nice, it was a little dim and the overall feel was relaxed.

What happens when you are in Chinatown, yet by some strange whim of a moment you are craving sushi? That's when you have a good chance of wondering into a place like Nama. The small quaint space is an embodiment of a common, American style sushi restaurant. Usual rice outside rolls are there and a few more creative dishes. The torched salmon tartare appetizer was not bad, but lacked balance, with red caviar being a bit overwhelming in saltiness with the fish.Rolls are well constructed and generally pleasant. There is very little creativity here, with most options being remarkably similar. There is also sake going for a 3x up-charge of retail. Oddly, despite being a Japanese restaurant, there is no tea. With efficient service and standard selections, Nama is certainly not a place that anyone should go out of their way to visit or be very excited about. At the same time, there are no particularly bad things to say about it either.

Nama is a small, intimate sushi bar. You will need reservations considering how small the restaurant is.We sat inside and we were attended to almost immediately. Food: We ordered a few things to try from seaweed salad, sashimi, miso soup, and their specialty sushi. The sushi and seaweed salad were good, but I am not a fan of imitation crab meat. Why is that on the menu? I don't get the hype and I would prefer Maryland blue crab. Why would you do imitation when you can have the real thing? I would have given four (4) stars, but the imitation crab threw the rating off.The sashimi and sushi were awesome -- tasty, presentation was nice and served quickly. Overall, the experience was nice. I would visit again, but wouldn't rush. Nama is related to Nama-Ko, the latter being on 14th Street NW. I would say visit Nama-Ko before Nama. Enjoy!

Stopped in here after working up an appetite from our massages and needed a quick bite to hold us over until dinner. We sat at the bar.The restaurant was clean and empty for this beautiful Sunday afternoon and the staff were welcoming and tentative with us.We just ordered 2 rolls: the shrimp tempura roll and the spicy salmon roll. Both were pretty good. We were here probably all of 30 mins...in and out! If you're in city vista and have a taste for sushi, definitely give this place a try! It's a cute little spot!Happy Yelping!

Our waiter Izzy was amazing! He was so friendly and kind and wanted to make sure we had a great experience. I got the Florida Roll and the Scallop Maki Roll. Both were fresh and delicious. Izzy also suggested yum yum sauce/spicy mayonnaise which also enhanced the flavors. We finished our meal with the chocolate cake for desert. Cake was creamy and decadent.

Hands down my favorite delivery spot for sushi. Always fresh and well packaged. I tend to get dumplings and a couple rolls. The tuna was fresh and the broth of the dumplings was flavorful. I have not been in person yet so I cannot speak to the in store service and ambiance, but for your takeout needs 5 stars!!

We were excited to try Nama Sushi Bar as we have passed by often. The ambiance is inviting and quaint, it is a small establishment to be sure. During our visit it was virtually abandoned during a prime dinner hour, which did not evoke much confidence, and the service was not particularly attentive; we received more attention when we were leaving than actually dining. By and large, the selections are very standard, if not similar with a hint of creativity for the signature rolls. Frankly, it was fairly uninspired and some of the more basic selections were comparable in taste and quality of a grocery store sushi counter. All in all, I would consider them a better venue for take out but all things considered, there are far better sushi options in DC.

Sleek sushi bar located in Mount Vernon Triangle. The restaurant is small so definitely recommend reservations especially with a larger party. To try at bit of everything we order 2 appetizers and 4 rolls. The tempura shrimp appetizer is worth it, a spin on bang bang shrimp. The Fried Crab California roll was by far a hit, with the Baked Salmon roll a close second. Recommend enjoying some rolls here for lunch or dinner!

Came in for dinner one night and was seated at the bar. It may be better to make a reservation in the future as it did get crowded once we started ordering more sushi. We came in just in time for the happy hour special. Started off with the bluefin tuna nigiri, the California roll and the eel nigiri. The tuna was good and the eel was delicious. We also ordered the yellowtail sesame and that was great! The head sushi chef was very kind and attentive. It looked like he was mentoring one of the newer chefs on one of the rolls that we ordered and he did a good job! There was a lot of anime and movie related items on the back walls which really helped bring everything together. Overall a nice spot if you're in the DC area looking for sushi.
