Mr Chen's Organic

Mr Chen's crispy eggplant in a savory sauce is one of the best things I've ever eaten in my life. The crispy eggplant, soft in the middle, really sets off the very umami, rich sauce. My roommate and I used to walk for miles on Connecticut Ave to go to Mr Chen's. Every time we went, it was a meal to remember.

An unpleasant dinner experience. My friend and I came here to eat on a Friday night and were barely greeted. The staff did not seem happy to have us eat in restaurant, even though it was around 7pm on a Friday. The food was not good--the chicken garlic sauce was almost inedible. The wontons were not textured well. The Singapore noodles tasted like dry curry powder. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

The owner literally messaged me on Yelp at 11p on a Saturday and told me I should take my business elsewhere if I was unsatisfied. I'll happily grant his wish.

Soggy overly sweet, overly breaded expensive general tso chicken and flavorless egg drop drop.

While you eat or SHOP near this location, I noticed people checking your vehicle outside. Not safe Location. There is Police presence and a new Police camera at the Target corner. NOT SAFE PLACE to spend a nice evening.

The owner sent me a message asking me to take my business elsewhere if I was dissatisfied. I just wanted to write this update to say not only is the food nasty, so is the owner!

First things first. I feel like most people who order Chinese take out will take convenience and cheap prices over taste and quality, so it's nice to see a Chinese take out place try to market itself as healthy. However if you're looking for a cheap takeout, this might not be for you. A quick glance at the menu and you'll find a noticeable difference between this place's prices and where you usually go. But I've eaten twice here and I can say that the quality is a lot better than most of the surrounding places. I've ordered the pork and eggplant and it was not healthy at all, but very delicious. Made more like the traditional dish, it had large pieces of pork and perfectly cooked eggplant. I'm also a huge fan of their hot and sour soup, a staple item that I usually use as my way of gauging how good a take out place is. It's actually sour! Imagine that! I've also tried the chicken and vegetables, duck rolls and the curry rice noodles and they were all decent as well. I'm not sure what's actually organic (some of the items or everything) but the quality of the items I've ordered so far made me a fan of this place.

Decided to get food delivered since I didn't want to cook and it was worth it. We ordered chicken dumplings, general tsos chicken, vegetable spring rolls, crab rangoons, and chicken with broccoli (brown sauce). The chicken was a little overcooked with the broccoli but everything else tasted great. I normally go for all veggie options but wasn't disappointed. With everything going on in the world, I appreciate the service and consistency of this establishment. Thank you!

Mr. Chen's Organic is a staple in the Cleveland Park community. Their food is fresh and certified organic. The service is impeccable and the ambiance is calming. This is what it's all about!

I haven't written a review on here in years and in fact it has been so long that I had to recreate an account in order to do so. I rarely order takeout and was very much looking forward to Mr Chen's as it has been forever since I have ordered from them. My 9 year old son was about to bite into his fried rice when he found a huge piece of broken glass right in the middle of his food. I immediately called the restaurant to alert them and not only were they super rude, but they didn't care at all. The man on the phone asked if anyone knew where the broken glass came from and obviously no one admitted to any wrongdoing. I really wasn't looking for anything except a sincere apology, but the attitude I received (especially on Christmas Eve) forced me to have to write a negative review.
