Mezcalero at La Cosecha

My wife and I have been regulars at Mezcalero since it opened. The restaurant opens out into the La Cosecha food hall/market, so the layout is a little odd -- but don't let this discourage you from trying it out.To start, I'd recommend the Oysters al Carbon con Crab Meat. It's a little heavy, but absolutely delicious. Their burritos (all of them) are excellent, but be aware the sauce is a little spicy. I also love the Cameron's a la Diabla and the Baja Fish Platter. It's a small restaurant, so it's easy to make eye contact with the waitstaff if you need anything. They are always super friendly even when they're super busy.Sometimes there will be a soccer game viewing, dance class, music, or some other event in the hall that provides entertainment while you dine, or after. It's a hot spot, and definitely one of our favorite casual restaurants in the Union Market District.

Amazing service! Great bar tender who made me this delicious strawberry mango vodka drink... and whoever is running the music, fireeee playlist! All the best Latin music with good vibes!

This place has delicious food and drinks and great service. I highly recommend for some good food!!! It's located in La Cosecha food hall towards the back. It has a diner feel to the decor but the food is much more elevated than a diner for sure!! Highly highly recommend!! I've been a few times and always leave satisfied. I've tried the octopus taco, steak taco, steak quesadilla, fried calamari, chicken enchiladas. All delicious looks and would recommend!!! I love their mescal margarita! My sister got their spicy mango margarita and really liked it!! The staff are always so kind and attentive. Lovely people!! This is more of a casual spot. I go for the food, drinks and service, not necessary the ambiance. I will continue to go back. It's my favorite place in La Cosecha food hall!! It's also possibly my favorite taco spot in all of DC.

Oh. My. Goodness. I am absolutely still in shock from how mouthwateringly delicious the pulpo taco was. I can not express how delicious the flavors were, the char of the octopus, the buttery goodness from the fat and the sauce omg the sauce. Ugh. I need 14 of them! All of the food was delicious, my friend got the shrimp tacos and raved about the rice and beans. Definitely flavorful and delicious all around!! The service was great, we got there at about 9 and were seated very quickly, food came out super fast and the server was very attentive. It's in the food court so there were a lot of people hanging out, good music playing and all around great spot to do some work or meet up with friends!

Super delicious and affordable food and drinks. Usually crowded during the weekend, but there is room during the week. And the happy hour menu is decent.

Their happy hour is hard to beat! The food is delicious and the drinks are strong and good. You can get takeout or dine in. The food comes out quickly and the service is always efficient and friendly even when busy. Pricing is a liiiitle on the high side but portions are fairly large and gratuity is included. Definitely recommend if you're in la cosecha looking for some good food!

Mezcalero is a great place in La Cosecha! I wasn't blown away by the flavors of my dishes, but the portions are large, the food comes out quickly, we've had good service, and the prices are more than fair! I've gotten the Milanesa del Distrito and Flautas Doradas de pollo, and my husband has gotten tortas. Also, their drinks are tasty (and strong!). Mezcalero takes great care of its customers, and I definitely recommend grabbing a bite here!

Had to wait a bit to get seated - The restaurant was steady on a Saturday afternoon and we were in no rush. One team member was working the bar, cash register/tablet and seating customers. The menu is expansive! Flavors on point, the chile relleno with chicken hit the spot, along with a margarita. The beans and rice also tasted great with the ranchero sauce. Highly recommend this dish. I will be back to try more!

Mezcalero is a must visit. Unassuming little spot. Best rice and beans around. Flavors are unmatched for Mexican food. Tacos are consistently delicious, the pulpo and fish are must gets. Overall 4 starts because it's on the pricey side, but the flavors and service keep us coming back.
