I'm in town for work and needed to find a market to get my morning yogurt and specialty tea mix. This place was a life saver and the owners are so nice.

Yes, the prices are obscenely high. And, yes, the people who work in this place are suspicious and mean - actually mean! But, let's face facts, the grocery store is about 100 feet from my house and there are times that I simply have to shop there. I swallow my pride and my disdain and I buy only what is absolutely necessary to finish whatever I am cooking. And then I get the hell out of there. It is an evil place but it is a necessary evil sometimes. So there, I said it. I just hope they can't tell who I am because they will definitely take it out on me next time I go there.

I am always surprised by the variety of items they offer here. Large selection of Beer and wine, chips and other snacks and candy, dairy and cheeses, bread, some fresh vegetables and fruit, lettuce, fruit juice, some fresh meat like beef and chicken, soup, pasta and tomato sauces, and other food staples and frozen foods like vegetables, fish and shrimp. They also sell convenience glassware, pots and pans, cleaning supplies, personal hygiene and smokes. The walking distance location makes it convenient for me even if I know the prices are a bit higher than driving to Safeway or other competitors. Prices are similar to Streets down the block. In general the produce is good and appears fresh but best to use same day or right after buying. They have ice for sale and the store has an ATM. The owners are friendly.

Great little grocery store across from my hotel. It had just about everything you for a short stay in DC. It is a bit cramped on the inside and seems a bit dated in its decor, which makes it seem a little dingy, but it is in fact extremely clean from my observation. If you are in the area for a few days, save some money on eating out and get some supplies at Metro Market.

Fantastic little market. I got plenty of bottled water and a chocolate bar. The woman working the counter was the perfect combination of friendly, effective, and efficient.

They have an okay selection at exorbitant prices. Almost $6 a gallon for milk is crazy! Beer is upwards of 30% for a six pack than anywhere else.

It's always a shame when a place that was good ruins itself. I have lived in the building for 25 years and Metro Market used to be my go-to for last minute items; even regular shopping if I didn't have time to hit the chain markets. On the one hand, the store was looking rather dated; more so after the renovation of the Westpark. The interior refresh certainly looks nice. The increased selection of beer and wine is also good. However, the way they have raised -- no, jacked up -- prices is outrageous. Previously, prices were generally on-par with Safeway, Giant, and Harris Teeter. Some things cost a little more; others, surprisingly, cost less. Countless people in the neighborhood (and even from West End before Trader Joe's and Whole Foods opened) did their regular shopping here. Forget about that now.I was just making dinner and discovered I was out of egg noodles. Thought I'd run downstairs and get a bag there. The previous owners used to sell a package for $1.09. Even $2.09 would have been acceptable. But, $3.69? For a generic brand? And the small ones at that? Really? The Mueller's they want $4.89 for. I took a look around at the prices for other things I would routinely pick up. Everything is now considerably more expensive than the supermarkets, or CVS or Walgreen's, even Whole Foods. This isn't prices just going up. These prices are pure gouging. To my neighbors, SAVE YOUR MONEY! Even if you don't worry about how much you spend, you are seriously overpaying. Go down to L Street or over to 17th and pay considerably less.To the owners of Metro Market: If your business model is to drive away loyal, neighborhood customers with outrageous prices, you certainly are accomplishing that. Otherwise, I urge you to make some serious price reductions, and fast. You won't last if you are not also a go-to for neighborhood residents. You are NOT Whole Foods, and even they don't charge as much for comparable items. No one had problems with paying a bit more for a CONVENIENCE market. Upping prices like Pharma Bro did is an extremely unwise idea.

Picture this: you just learned a new recipe for an artichoke falafel soup that you have been dying to taste. You line up all the ingredients beforehand and go to add the saffron. WHAT?! NO SAFFRON! Never fear... Metro Market has you covered. You've just poured yourself a bowl of Lucky Charms in order to spend a Saturday afternoon on the couch whiling away the day in a haze of daytime TV and sloth. You reach for the organic milk and pour. OH NO! CLUMPS! WHATEVER WILL I DO?! Never fear... Metro Market has you covered. You threw a really awesome party last night (even your mom came!) and you went to bed without noticing the pile of vomit in the corner next to your PS3. You wake up and begin to clean. You notice the vomit staining your rug and go to grab your can of Spot Shot. EMPTY! ACCURSED FATE! WHY DOTH THOU MOCK ME! Never fear... Metro Market has you covered. This place is hidden; tucked away in a mini-strip mall attached to an apartment complex. They have everything you could possibly need in your life, and a few things that you probably could do without (I'm looking at you, seaweed crisps). Sure, they charge about $1 or $2 more than most grocery stores, but they're there when you're in a bind... and they stay open during the most horrific storms because they are committed to the West End community (and they're also probably looking to make money or something). The owners and operators are very kind and they are a welcome addition to this area of DC.

I love this tiny market in the fact that is so close to my home.Save me from trouble when the cold windy winter come, make it so easy and fast for me to do my grocery. They have almost everything. Even on the nice sunny day, I usually explore other grocery place, but this place really convenient for me to shop on my lazy day.The owner and staff are all Asian, very helpful and friendly. When I shop to much stuff, the young male cashier always open the door for me. So sweet!

The people who work in the store are so kind and helpful! It's so convenient to pop in if I need something quick and don't wanna go to a large supermarket. It's surprising that a store of this size carries such a variety of items! Don't be surprised if you find that individual items are priced slightly higher than a grocery chain, but it's wonderful to support a local business run by such warm-hearted and kind people.
