It's hard to say if I would recommend this restaurant because the food and prices are average- nothing to brag about. The service was ok but the waitresses seemed detached and didnt approach often unless we flagged them to come over. It was a weird experience and it didn't feel welcoming. I personally wouldn't return.

First time eating in the restaurant which was a really nice experience. Greater warmly when we stepped inside of the unassuming small space in a lot with Giant and other small stores. Much larger inside than we expected. It was filled on a Saturday evening and there was light chatter and the bustle of a busy restaurant. Noticed many take out orders ready for pick up. Service was attentive and quick. You could tell that presentation is important to them. Restaurant was clean and you get to see the sushi chefs in front of you preparing your meal. All of the fish was vibrant and fresh. Rolls were decent sized. We'll definitely be back!

If I could put it shortly, the sushi is slightly above average. It's not the best sushi I have ever had like some of the reviews are raving about. I cannot tell if it's because they used to be great or maybe the taste is not consistent all the time.I was glad to be able to find a sushi restaurant with White Tuna available though. It was quite satisfying but again it wasn't the best white tuna I've ever had. I feel like something is missing in the taste of the sushi but I cannot pinpoint exactly what. Maybe I wasn't feeling the love the chef had for his/her sushi.The place isn't huge but also isn't small so you should be able to find an open table without issue. It's in a shopping plaza so there's plenty of parking outside. I have to be honest, I wouldn't drive out of my way to come back here.

I won't be shellfish and gatekeep this place. Matsu sushi has ebi-thing: fresh sushi/sashimi, good prices, and kind staff. I am not a huge sushi eater, but my family and I both really enjoyed a light dinner after the spa...thanks to yelp showing me what was around. Matsu sushi had great reviews and I can see why. We came around 7:00pm on a Sunday night, and it was pretty full but luckily we were sat right away mear the sushi bar. We ordered the sushi and sashimi combo, chicken teriyaki, and Sapporo. The sushi and sashimi seemed fresh and were tasty. The chicken teriyaki came on a hot plate with lots of veggies under it, and a serving of rice on the side (just fyi--doesn't come as a bento box). Waitresses were kind and didn't rush us. Gave us all appetizer salads, miso soup despite only ordering 2 entrees. Service was good. The restaurant was clean, yet a bit small. Not super trendy for the world of instagram and tik tok, just like a neighborhood sushi house. Would recommend and would return! Glad to have discovered Matsu.

Matsu Sushi is the absolute gold standard in neighborhood sushi spots. I have been going since I was a kid and the consistency in terms of food quality, service, and pricing is amazing. My family and friends trek far and wide for a taste of this family-owned Centreville gem. A few updates or notes: They no longer do complimentary gyoza and edamame but have been able to maintain their Y2K era prices on sushi which I can appreciate.My favorite rolls include: scallop nigiri, hamachi nigiri, fatty tuna nigiri, vegas roll, spider roll, and the kabuki roll. The fried banana and ice cream is also a must, even if you are stuffed! There is a private party room in the back

So I hear the sushi is amazing here, but I actually don't eat sushi so I can't write about that. The matsu balls are good like little fried wontons. The rest of the Japanese dishes are yummy. This little gem in Centreville has been around for quite a while and there is a reason for that.Definitely check them out if you love sushi.

We had a fantastic experience at this restaurant. It was my mother in law's first time trying sushi and we wanted to take her somewhere with quality sushi to choose from. Matsu Sushi did not disappoint! The staff was friendly and very attentive. Our waitress made sure our water glasses were always filled and the food arrived in a timely manner. The restaurant was clean and spaced out well to maximize the space without making it feel overly crowded. My husband and I will be visiting here again soon!

I have been to many sushi place in the area and this is my favorite sushi restaurant so far. I have order sushi (regular/deluxe) and fried oysters from them for to go multiple times as well, but I am just going to write the review of my experience on the night of my visit to the restaurant. That night I ordered the sea urchin sushi, which was on their daily special. The urchin was very rich and creamy. Delicious! Then I got the all cooked sushi, because I just felt like it, and it didn't disappoint. (Their regular sushi is also excellent but my stomach didn't feel too good that night so I limited myself from eating too many raw stuff). My boyfriend doesn't like seafood so he got the Beef Donburi - it was well prepared- full of flavor and the balance of amount of meat vs veggies were great as well. He loved it. Server was super nice and attentive. The restaurant was busy but she didn't forget to check up on us. Even it was busy, the place was kept clean. No loud music so we could enjoy our conversation over the dinner. Will definitely continue visit/order delivery!!
