Matchbox - Rockville

Matchbox pizza hits different. I love the crispiness and spiciness of the tomato sauce and pepperonis. The restaurant was nice and quiet for a Monday evening. I was able to get some work done while enjoying some delicious grub. Customer service was superior and I absolutely have no complaints at all.#EatGoodAndBeHappy

I recently dined at the Matchbox location in Rockville, MD, and unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. Upon being seated, I immediately noticed that the plates and silverware were not clean, which set a concerning tone for the meal.While the main dishes were overwhelmingly salty and hard to enjoy, I will say the appetizers were a highlight. The Maryland crab dip and Arancini were good and stood out as the best part of the meal.That being said, the staff was very pleasant and attentive, which I appreciated. The manager also stepped in and kindly took some of the dishes off my receipt after I shared my concerns. While the customer service was commendable, the overall dining experience fell short.I hope they address these issues soon because the potential is there, but I can't see myself returning anytime soon unless some significant improvements are made.

Great food, wide menu selection ("something for everyone"), friendly service, and nice space (lighting is great for photos). We had a party of 6, and everyone loved their food. PEPPERONI & HOT HONEY PIZZA (HALF) and SPICY MEATBALL (HALF) - $18I couldn't decide between two pizzas and our server offered the option of ordering half & half - yay! Both the host and server raved about the "pepperoni & hot honey" - agree, if you love sweet & salty, you will love it. However looking at other food pics, my pizza didn't have quite the same presentation - taste-wise, it was still good! Description says "vodka sauce, pepperoni, hot honey, mozzarella, basil" ... every ingredient spoke to me but I couldn't taste any vodka sauce on mine ... maybe it was subtle?The "spicy meatball" pizza was good too - spicy but not unbearable. Menu description - "roasted garlic, crushed red pepper, bacon, mozz, halved meatballs." I loved the pepperoni & hot honey pizza more - my nephew loved the spicy meatball more. RIBEYE - $3814oz grilled steak, asparagus, mashed potatoes, garlic butter. Ribeye is so big that my parents shared the dish. My dad's a picky eater and he loved the steak. I had a bite - very good. I didn't try the other items b/c they're not the sharing type (boo) but everyone enjoyed their food - Black Bean Veggie Burger ($18), Roasted Salmon ($26), Double Bacon Cheeseburger ($19), and Simple Salad ($6 - side salad).Overall great spot esp. for families. FYI they have a great special on gift cards now. Also a loyalty program. Next time I'd like to try the "fire + smoke" pizza - described as having "chipotle puree, basil, Spanish onions, roasted garlic puree, roasted red peppers, smoked gouda" ... sounds intriguing, right? :)

It's been awhile since I came to Matchbox, and while I heard that the brunch was better than the last time I reviewed, it's been years since I visited. That being said, I came in a few weeks ago for Pizza and Salad and it was delicious. I got the Pepperoni Pizza, and I will say, Matchbox's Pepperoni is delicious. I love how the pepperoni is burnt a little on the side, and how thin the pizza is. The service was good because it was very empty, but will definitely be back.

I'm going to be different from my previous reviews and say: don't come to this restaurant. Why would you want to spend your hard earned dollars eating great food and drinking great drinks? And sure, this place has a nice atmosphere and great service, but why would anyone want that? All jokes aside, this is a great place for food and drinks. Service was also great when I went and the food was served quickly. I just have to remember to visit more often. Nom nom nom!

Matchbox gives off great vibes! I love how the restaurant is big, tall, and spacious. Our waiter was very professional and efficient too. For food, my friend and I ordered the spinach artichoke dip, and a half fire + smoke and half pig + pineapple pizza. Everything was delicious. I loved the garlic flavor on the toast because it went well with the dip. I also loved the contrast of the 2 pizza flavors. One side was sweet, and the other was spicy! All ingredients tasted fresh, and the crust was hot and crispy.I would definitely recommend everyone to dine in and get the food fresh.

We visited this Matchbox location for an early dinner and we weren't impressed. Everything was mediocre, including the food, drinks, and overall visit. However, it should be noted that the hostess and our server were great and very eager to assist. I ordered the Holy Grail Margherita pizza and my dinning companion ordered the ribs. My pizza was bland. Literally nothing to write home about. He ordered the ribs and he said they were just okay. I'm a big fan of the Matchbox in downtown DC, but the food was just average at this location. It's a nice and big location where you can either dine inside or outside. It wasn't a horrible visit, but it just wasn't our cup of tea. Won't be returning.

OMG, Matchbox is the cutest! The vintage mid-century vibes make it a total Insta-dream with exposed brick, tin ceilings and matchboxes everywhere.But let's get to the good stuff - the wood-fired pizzas are to die for! The crispy-chewy crust on the matchbox meat with all the yummy pepperoni, sausage and bacon is just chef's kiss.For something lighter, the crab and shrimp fettuccine in that creamy spicy tomato sauce is absolutely drool-worthy. Sip on their smokin' mezcal margarita for the perfect girly cocktail.It can get busy, but who cares when the ambiance is this adorable? Matchbox is a must for cute date nights or fun with your besties over delish comfort food!

Food was delicious. Kyle was great! Everything was quick and Kyle was was very attentive. Great atmosphere for just hanging out with friends. The table bread is fabulous
