Mat Jib

About a 1-1.5: Hate to do this to you, Mat Jib, but not sure if you had a change in the preparation of your meals or a new team of chefs/cooks - we used to come here for their simple Korean/Japanese/Chinese-Korean fare, but the food is just not the same.I was curious about their spicy squid stir-fry, and I asked the ahjumma how it was; she said it was the best thing on the menu and the most popular; unfortunately, the dish was inedible - the squid wasn't fresh, it was too rubbery/overcooked, and there was a fishy odor and taste to it; the sauce wasn't savory and spicy, but more watered down. This was tossed.We also tried the jajangmyun, which was not great, either - the noodles were overcooked, and the jajang sauce was thin and watered down, making this a super bland dish.There's no banchan 'buffet' anymore, so you'll have to ask for a refill up at the front.Service is friendly.Located inside HMart, there's plenty of parking in the plaza lot.+inconsistent food items+friendly service+located inside HMart+plenty of parking in the plaza lot

This Korean restaurant is tucked into the back of H Mart. We occasionally come here for a bite after a walk or jog around Burke Lake. Service is usually very friendly, but sometimes the older ladies working there will charge you 50 cents for a take-out box.I usually order the chicken fried rice with black bean sauce. The sauce, with bits of onion, is so tasty! I fairly regularly order the gyoza (they don't call them gyoza, but they look like gyoza, but I don't remember offhand what they are called but they might be mandu). With your dishes they provide complimentary miso soup and banchan (usually including kimchee and sesame bean sprouts among other vegetables). The kimchee is excellent.On a couple of occasions, I have ordered the seafood pancake. It was pretty good, though this last time, I noticed they now include thin slices of red bell pepper. I don't really like the red bell peppers so I pick them out. IComplimentary water is available.For whatever reasons, spring, summer, fall or winter, H Mart keeps the store temperature very low. You can hang meat on the walls! But knowing that, I always bring a hoodie or jacket to stay warm while eating.

Mat Jib is the excellent outside restaurant food vendor who operates the food extension location inside the H Mart Burke. Some will note the Burke location is not categorized properly as being an HMart location in Yelp search. Others will know most HMart locations have just such a vendor setup. With my hundreds of HMart visits throughout the US over decades far from and near my home, I credibly attest that this location is uniquely quality and delicious.I have strong and wonderful memories of eating here last week as every aspect of the experience was so delightful I ordered the C7 chicken fried rice, K2 seafood soondubu (soft tofu) soup seafood, K11 bibimbap (our kids love this dish) and K24 jab chae bap (clear bean noodles with sesame oil and vegetables). I wish I photographed this business but didn't because it had no Yelp entry so I only added it after I got home.Particular note is the service was especially fast, thorough, and friendly. By itself, that attentive care for the meal and ordering and explaining to me, a non-Korean, is worth supporting and I hope you will, too. The food is 3.5 to 4 stars. Tastes good. But the lady didn't understand how to use the credit card machine and charged me 5 times for my dinner. Teeming me the previous 4 time didn't work and the 5 time on a fifteenth card did. So giving service 0 stars... so we are back to 2 stars overall. It's a food stall in H-Mart... so ambience is as expected.
