I'm surprised that I haven't positively reviewed this restaurant in the past as Mandarin Express has been my go to Chinese restaurant for almost 30 years. I have many wonderful memories of grabbing lunch here with my father. And I loved knowing that this was one of three restaurants that my family could order from without there being an argument, because everyone loved something on the menu. I have hesitated to write this negative review, but my past few orders warrant me posting this.If this review was based solely on the previous 29 years of meals, it would be a five star review, but unfortunately, it's not. My meals over the past year has been in some cases, inedible. For example, the sauce on the crispy beef is so sweet we couldn't take more than a couple of bites. On multiple occasions very common ingredients were missing and substituted with ingredients that just were inappropriate and changed the flavor of the dish. In my last order, all the dishes were missing mushrooms, bamboo shoots, and water chestnuts - three very common ingredients in Chinese dishes. And in all of the dishes, those ingredients were replaced with cabbage, zucchini, and yellow squash, which did not work at all. They changed both the texture and the flavor of the dishes, and it was horrible. Additionally, some of the prices have risen as much as $4 per dish. Perhaps it's new management, perhaps it's inflation, perhaps it's just a really bad coincidence. But unfortunately, I've placed my last order with Mandarin Express and I'm on the lookout for a new favorite Chinese restaurant.I am very saddened to have to written this review. The reason I gave it two stars over one star is because the delivery man is awesome. He's always friendly, kind and very mindful of where he parks his car. Hopefully things change at this restaurant for the better and we can go back soon.

We Ordered mandarin express the other night and have to say that the staff are very friendly who delivered the food and it was packaged beautifully. The pork and snow pea was excellent as well as the eggrolls. The beef they use for their soup and fried rice is kind of mushy. The salt and pepper shrimp was excellent and it had a nice heat. The sweet-and-sour chicken was fair and the egg foo young was prepared well but the chicken had an interesting taste in the gravy could've used more seasoning. I would recommend this restaurant, but just be careful what you order.

11/11/2021, we were too lazy to cook so we decided to get some tummy warming noodles in these 50 degree weather. She had the Hot N Sour rice noodle, I had the Cross Bridge Noodle, and we had the restaurant's take on a Shrimp Tempura for appetizer. The $5 Tempura app came with four pieces. The dish itself was simple and surprisingly original. I've never had a shrimp tempura like this. The fillings reminded me of an elevated version of an egg roll but with shrimp in it. Every bite was filled with flavor. The only unfortunate aspect was that there was a smidge too much oil used in this dish. The two staples of the restaurant (Cross Bridge and Hot N Sour rice noodles) were excellent as usual. My wife really liked her dish. She said her dish had the right balance between the noodles and other ingredients. Same can be said about my Cross Bridge. We can hardly find any flaws and we don't plan on nitpicking. The two noodle dishes are the staples for a reason! I still think my dish was the better of the two!! The prices are cheap in these pandemic, inflation driven days.Overall experience: 4.5/5

Ordered delivery tonight. The cross bridgessoup was good. The vegetable lo mein was ok. The egg foo young patties were good but the major fail was sugar in the gravy?!!The gravy was sweet tasting and I can sense sugar anywhere. Please no sugar in gravy. I do not think I can get over this one. I suspect there was some base used in the gravy and sugar was an ingredient.

What's up foodie fams! I'm so excited to finally go back to a place I have not eaten at in about a year! I used to go here a lot before the lockdown. I'm glad they just recently opened back dine-in option.Located in Rockville, Maryland is a quaint little Chinese restaurant serving up some massive flavors to attack your taste buds! I ordered the noodle soup they are mostly known for by those who often eat here, the cross bridge noodle soup and a side entree of stir fried pork and spicy peppers. The noodle soup is an act on it's own. You can order the noodle soup cooked or raw. I love getting the raw option where the meat and veggies are fresh. The soup comes out piping hot so add in the meat first to cook, then the veggies, and finally the noodles and watch the magic happen as you mix the ingredients in the oh so savory soup. I like to add hot chili oil and pepper for giggles . I also really enjoyed the pork and spicy peppers. This dish is emanating with robust flavors. A slight hint of sweetness from the house sauce, saltiness goodness from the pork's natural juices, and the mean spiciness from the peppers. There is def a little kick if you enjoy spicy food.Needless to say, I'm super satisfied and happy in the stomach region. Can't wait to come back and eat more of their massive menu of flavor! Until next we eat, stay safe and healthy. SUPER NOMZ!!!

this place is one of my absolute favorite restaurants in Rockville - I've been going here regularly with my family for over 15 years.there's usually no wait on a weekday night and it's pretty easy to find parking. This place does offer the classic Chinese restaurant dishes but the real gems are the ones listed below.here's what to get:1) the crossbridge noodle soup (過橋米線) , cooked (you can order it "raw" with piping hot soup and put the raw ingredients in yourself, but I prefer it to come out cooked). This noodle soup is so comforting and delicious, and filled with a ton of good ingredients like fresh veggies, shrimp, meat, and tofu skin2) crispy sweet and spicy tofu (干辣豆腐) , it's fried to order and super crispy when it comes out. delicious.3) the rice cakes with mustard green and pork (炒耳塊) I love rice cake and the way they make it is super chewy and umami and delightful.Recently I also tried the thinly sliced chili oil bean curd (紅油豆乾絲) which was super refreshing and sliced so so thinly (how do they do that!!) and the seasonal Chinese mahogany with egg (香椿操蛋) Both were .

Just seconding the few people here that said they were charged incorrectly. I was charged $80 for 2 lunch entrees and 2 appetizers and the lady refused to fix it there, even after we discussed adjusting it, and then also refused to fix it after I called back. First of all, their website menu is way shorter then the paper menu people are posting here. Website also doesn't have prices, as someone else as pointed out. When I called in my order I confirmed they actually sell a few things not on their website and they said yes. Order wasn't read back to me. Name wasn't taken. Price wasn't given and nor was time for the order to be ready. I called back to ask about time and price and was just told to show up in 20 min. I show up and say I am doing pickup. there are a bunch of items I didn't order on the list she had. She admitted 2 people called at the same time and she combined the orders. so she separated them out and went to the kitchen to add my crab Rangoons that she forgot. in the meantime she does the math and says its $80. I said how?? I asked for an itemized receipt and was handed a paper slip with chinese writing. we went through the item and she said she added crispy noodles by accident. we talk about adjusting the price and she said she does it. I get home and there's a few random things included in the order (broth and a bag of leaking raw meat In a bag of basil). my order is wrong. I'm confused. I see the receipt for $80 and not the adjusted amount. check my credit card and was charged $80! I called and she admitted 2 extra things were added to my order by accident. we talk about the adjustment she was suppose to make and she seems to have just confused herself...I also mention the raw meat but don't get an answer. I ask for a price adjustment and was told that is the actual price. I said I have a paper menu and the math is not right. even if I added up the price of the items added by accident and made them dinner size (ordered at lunch), it still didn't add up. she looks back and sees a crispy tofu was added by mistake. I asked for a refund for that. I was told was given those items for free. I was not, I can do math. so I asked for a refund for the items that I didn't order and I was told next time she can give me extra. well...they dont even have my name so no way. I told her no and I want a refund and we go back and forth and she tells me to come by and pick up lo Mein. I said no I just want a refund for the extra items. and after 4x she said she's gonna go find my card and then hangs up. So yeah, just be careful.I'm attaching paper menu pricing from Jan 8, 2021 for reference.

We've been coming here for 20 years. The owners are like family! The cross bridge noodle soup is amazing. We've found no other like it. This is authentic Chinese cooking and comfort food. Bonus, they have the best veggie spring rolls.
