Mama Chepa was a charming little spot that truly impressed me. As someone who grew up in the area, I was surprised when my sister mentioned there was a Mexican restaurant in the plaza. Naturally, I'm always down for some good Mexican food, so we decided to check it out. One Friday afternoon, we headed over during lunch, parked ourselves at the bar, and placed a to-go order.When I say "little," I mean little, but there's nothing wrong with that--it adds to the cozy vibe. I ordered the shrimp nachos, while my sister went for the shrimp tacos. While we waited, we both enjoyed margaritas, and let me tell you, those did not disappoint. The drinks were a nice touch and made the short wait enjoyable.Now, here's why it's not a 5-star review for me: my order included more than what I asked for--steak and chicken were mixed in with the shrimp. I ended up eating it anyway, but it made me think about what could've happened if I'd only been eating seafood that day. To be fair, I should've double-checked my order before leaving, so part of that's on me.All in all, the food was tasty, the margaritas were great, and the atmosphere was welcoming. It's definitely worth another visit.

Had a flavorful meal and a great first experience at Mama Chepa. We sat at the bar, watched a game, got to know the bartender, and enjoyed our meal. Salsa was on point and had the perfect flavor/texture mix. Wings were pretty darn good. However, the pastor tacos STOLE the show. Seasoned perfectly, topped with sweet pina, and came with the perfect "dunker" sauces. Black beans were flavorful without being too salty. Yes, you can have well-seasoned Latin food with minimal salt.

Located in a strip mall in Fort Totten is the only sit-down restaurant in the neighborhood. Walk inside and you'll see a bar in the back and several tables set up in the front. The menu is large and they have anything from tacos to loaded tater tots. For lunch, I got the birria tacos. For $15, you get three birria tacos, rice and beans. It was tasty! Service was friendly and quick!

Cute local restaurant. They haven't been open very long so you may not have noticed it. I highly recommend going in and giving them a try. It took me forever to write this review and they didn't have alcohol yet when I visited. I got the Bronzino and it was DELICIOUS. I really enjoyed the meal and the service.

Came in for a second time yesterday and the quality has gone significantly down. The prices do not justify the quality. They also add the tip to the bill without informing you and I only realized this the next day. I tried the tacos and the empanadas and the tortillas were falling apart and the empanadas de plátano were dry. The service was poor and our waitress didn't really acknowledge us until I went and grabbed menus for my friend and I. Womp womp. I paid $60 bucks for a Diet Coke, four tacos, and two empanadas.
