I've been to Maketto twice now--once with a large group and another time with my father. Both times the service and food were absolutely fantastic! They offer a good mix of familiar favorites from several Asian countries and even the simple dishes like Lo Mein are SO GOOD!! There are plenty of less familiar options as well like Cambodian Noodle Salad. Cocktails are on point and a step above most Asian restaurants in the city.

We came here for the restaurant week special: 4-courses for $40. Great deal for the amount of food we got but we did opt in for the Peking Duck Bao which was +$30. We each ordered different courses and shared! Service was great and we'll be back again for dinner but just not order the dessert. Offer ends 2/15!Veggie Spring Roll: 10/10 Very filling and we liked the sauce it comes with. Spicy Cucumber Salad: 10/10 Usually cucumber salad is hit or miss but this one is flavorful with big chunks of cucumber. We ate the entire plate!Sourdough Scallion Pancake: 8/10 Not your typical scallion pancake! These bad boys are huge and fluffy! It's different but good! Pork Steamed Bao: 9/10 This was good but I wish it had more sauce inside. The outside is perfectly steamed and soft!Signature Bao Platter with Peking Duck: 7/10 the duck skin was super crispy but the meat was just okay. I'm not a huge fan of duck tho.Maketto Fried Chicken: 9/10 this was my friends favorite dish! Crispy and topped with yummy sauces.Mochi beignets: 6/10 we assumed it would be more like a fried mochi ice cream but it tasted more like a fried ball. No ice cream. Banana Matcha Tiramisu: 6/10 I was excited for the banana flavor but it was sooo subtle. Overall this dessert lacks sweetness but I feel that way about most Asian desserts.

After a late night at library of Congress took a short Uber ride to Maketto. We were warmly welcomed and given a shirt review of the menus. We did not go for the four course meal which is a good deal for $40.00. The food came out with a steady flow. Ginger chicken soup dumplings was delicious. The drunken shrimp had a nice spice and was a big portion. Sourdough scallion pancakes were very good. Spicy Cauliflower was spicy and yummy. The tables are far enough apart to have private conversations.

First of all, it was very easy to make a reservation. When I arrived, they sat us promptly and the service was high touch. They changed our plating and utensils in between each course and even boxed our leftovers.Second, the interior is huge, two floors. Loved the vibe on both floors. We were seated in the top door and had a retro 90s vibe with VHS tapes and video games. And now, the food. Wow, the flavors. Really loved the eclectic take on the food. Great spices and seasoning. We ordered the guyere dumplings, the sourdough scallion pancake, pork bao, fried chicken and lo mein. Definitely more than enough for 2. I loved the seasoning and the crunchiness of the chicken. The bao tasted like pulled bbq pork and it was phenomenal. The guyere dumplings were a different taste and it was out of this world. The texture of the thicker scallion pancake was a different dimension! I need to come back soon!

It saddens me that restaurants take advantage of consumers citing "paying the staff a living wage". Today I opted to treat my resident to lunch and she selected Maketto. I called in the take out order since I had inKind cash to use, but generally order off Uber eats or grubhub (this is important). Called it in and thought the total was $55 which made sense. However when I get to the restaurant a 20% fee was charged as gratuity for a take out order. This practice made sense during covid era when no in person dining occurred, however to charge this for items that I drive and pickup myself is laughable. The items were packaged neatly. The broth for the duck noodle soup, generally my favorite dish was a tad salty, but still delicious. The wok fried rice noodles were reportedly as delicious in the past. Overall, I unfortunately will not be patronizing this location for my local take out cravings as the 20% service charge for take out is greedy. Pro tip if you do order takeout do not order it directly. See last two photos of Uber eats and grubhub.

We went here for restaurant week and had the absolute best experience! The food was insanely good, the service was fabulous, and it was such a cute restaurant. We loved trying all of the food options for a really great price point. We had the spicy cucumber salad and veggie spring rolls to start then had the pork steamed bao (which were incredibly delicious) and the sourdough scallion pancake (wowww) followed by the wok fried rice noodles and smoked brisket Cambodian style. Finished with egg custard tart and mochi beignets. It was all so freaking good and we left full to the very brim. It was cool looking at old records and vhs tapes while we waited for our food. All around a really cool and delicious experience, highly recommend!!

Service 5/5Food 4/5 Drinks 4/5 Dessert 5/5This is definitely a spot that we will return to for Friday night dates. The fried rice with shrimp added was the best item that we ordered! Desert was amazing and the icing that they used was not overpowering on the sweetness. On our return trip we will need to find a different appetizer.A plus was that (I believe it was the owner) saw us multiple times throughout the evening and each time referred to us by name! It definitely set him and the restaurant apart!

Had dinner here which was a great experience. We ordered the Maketto Fried Chicken and Wok Fried Noodle which were both delicious. Both these dishes were plenty for 2 of us to split (we probably should of only ordered one of the 2 especially since the chicken pieces were quite large). Service was friendly and attentive, menu selection good and price decent. The seating was just a little closer than I prefer because you could hear the conversations of the neighboring tables. Overall, our experience was very good and I would return to try some different dishes.

One of the more interesting Asian fusion places I've been to. My girlfriend and I ordered four small plates to share - it turns out that the portion size is quite substantial, and while we did finish everything, three small plates would have also sufficed.First came the crispy gruyere dumplings. It came on a bed of ground meat which had a distinctive five spice taste. Then we had the strange flavor eggplant, which contained of mashed eggplant topped with cucumber slices with a mild mala seasoning on a bed of what appears to be hummus but is actually tofu. The ginger chicken soup dumplings is the only item I would actually consider small plate; there were four of them and came dressed in a mild chili sauce. Finally, the jumbo scallop red curry had a rich coconut sauce and four pieces of scallops. We also got the five spice latte; there was definitely a hint of five spice but we felt it could be a bit stronger.
