The food is not good and pretty inconsistent. I went 3 different times to try different things but it just wasn't good. I won't be coming back.

I had a credit to use on UberEats and was looking around the area to try someplace new. I found LuckyDanger which I had never heard of, they were super close, they had a Buy one Get One Free special on the Beef Lo Mein and the General Tso's Chicken, and in addition to delivery, they also allowed order pick up. Sweet! I ordered 2 of each meal. I make my own Jasmine rice at home in my rice cooker but I hate cooking so I order take out a lot and eat on the leftovers for a couple days. The portion sizes were on the smaller side. Not sure if it was part of the BOGO Special but luckily I didn't order just one or I'd have been very disappointed. And still hungry. The taste was just ok but moreso the food didn't taste fresh. The beef in the beef lo mein was dry and there wasn't much of it. And the general Tso's chicken just wasn't that flavorful. But the biggest disappointment was getting a long black hair IN. MY. MOUTH. with a bite of the General Tso's Chicken. Yuck. Gross. Gag. Humans lose hair but if your job is to serve food, please take precautions like hair nets or similar to ensure that your hair isn't served in with people's food.Needless to say, I won't be returning. I'm giving 2 stars and not 1 because I did like the convenience of being able to walk over and save on the additional delivery fees and get my food 15 minutes after it was ordered, via UberEats, and not have to wait for the delivery. And the staff was friendly when I picked the order up.

This spot is takeout only. For a quick bite it's ok but if you want something of substance I'd move on to other places in the area. The serving size is a little small.

I've tried Lucky Danger's catering and have always seen it when I pass by and on a night that I was craving Asian food/takeout, I decided to give it a try.Similar to everyone's reviews, the place is more like a ghost kitchen where you order takeout from either your mobile device or the screen there. Not much interpersonal reaction though if you're like me who ordered from mobile, then you just have to give your order # and they'll hand it to you. Can't say much about service since there wasn't really any though the store's branding was fun.Food wise:Duck Fried Rice - probably the most flavorful fried rice I've had. It's on the oily though the duck is fragrant and the rice is seasoned well. Definitely a must have.Mapo Tofu - I'm used to sichuan styled mapo tofu and this disappointed. Wasn't spicy at all nor had lots of flavor. Was mostly on the savory side and while the tofu was chunky, it just satisfied the craving of Chinese styled tofu but missed the mapo mala mark.Beef Lo Mein - the Lo Mein was seasoned well and came with big beef chunks which made it even more flavorful. The noodles are also cooked well and are long, stringy, and savory. Definitely a good buy.General Tso's - with this being your classic takeout dish, you can't really ruin it much and to the point, it tastes like your typical general tso's though it wasn't on the saucy side which was nice. Honey walnut shrimp - unlike typical takeout, the shrimp isn't drenched in honey sauce which was a surprise. I wasn't too disappointed nor thought it was amazing but it has that nice crunch you'd expect.Pan seared mala beef dumplings - pretty good and filling! Very flavorful as wellNow I'll caveat this review that this is Chinese takeout meaning that the bar is pretty low as you're expecting affordable Asian food. Though the price is steep for how much you get, the flavors do make up for it. My rating edges more on the 3.5/5 stars than 4 stars but overall, if you're craving Chinese takeout, this is not a bad option if you live in Arlington/pentagon city. It hits the mark with the flavors and pricing is about average to the area. I'll definitely order it again when I'm craving it.

Probably won't come back here again. One of those spots that's mostly flash, without the substance to match unfortunately. Was walking to the nearby Basic Burger spot, saw what appeared to be a brand new Chinese restaurant in Lucky Danger, so changed plans from Basic Burger and decided to give this place a try instead.Walked in and the first thing I noticed was that this was a small Chinese restaurant apparently NOT staffed by any Chinese staff. In my experience, that's a *huge* red flag (LOL). But I was already here so might as well order. Waited for the guy behind the counter to take my order. Instead of doing that, he simply pointed to a small touch screen at the front of the counter, said I should place my order there, and then walked away. Seemed a bit impersonal, but whatever. I ordered the Duck Fried Rice, but specifically indicated in the notes when ordering that I did NOT want any vegetables included in the meal when that section of the order screen came up.After completing my order, a screen came up indicating that while the credit card ordering system does not have an option to leave tips, a mandatory 5% "service charge" is added to all meals that's split amongst staff. Seems like poor form to add a mandatory charge like that but the "service charge" for my $10 meal was only .50 cents and I would've left more anyway as a tip so no big deal - guess that saved me money. Picked up my order - they give you the order in a spiffy paper bag, a couple of fortune cookies, chopsticks, but no forks, spoons, or soy sauce for whatever reason. Got home and realized that 1) the order of $10 fried rice was much smaller than I expected, and 2) they added vegetables to the fried rice despite my specific request in the order notes to not add any vegetables. The fried rice was far from the full meal you get at your typical Chinese restaurants - it was basically a large/medium SIDE of rice, which was not what I was expecting. And as I mentioned, they added vegetables to the rice when I specifically requested they not add vegetables - if I'd been able to request no vegetables verbally rather than having to type the request into a screen, I suspect this error would've been much less likely to happen.I will say the Duck Fried Rice was pretty good though, even if not filling with the small portion I got. This spot has a cool logo, concept, design, etc. with a modern feel to it and appreciate the spiffy bag that came with the order, but the customer service and food (at least in terms of quantity) were sorely lacking. Might try to give this place one more chance in the future but probably won't...

The only option is to order for pickup or delivery through their app. I ordered for pickup first thing when they opened so the wait time wasn't bad, about 30 minutes. I ordered the chicken lo mein, kung pao chicken, and hot and sour soup.Chicken lo mein wasn't bad and ended up being the best thing I ordered. Kung pao chicken was kind of bitter and the chicken was really hard to chew. The hot and sour soup was awful. Way too sour I couldn't even finish one bite. It honestly tasted like straight vinegar. Also for the price you pay the quantity is very small. I'm paying normal entree prices for half the size. Overall not impressed.

I really wanted to like this place. I'd heard such great reviews from those who'd lined up to try their offerings in DC! But the food missed the mark for me in some big ways. I can't point to any one dish because it was all lackluster. I was hoping for a fresh take on American-style Chinese food, but it felt like a not-quite-right echo of the genre. My food was salty and soggy. The portions are relatively small--which would have been fine if the food was really solid--so consider that if you're intending to share. Overall there are other Chinese and/or Asian fusion spots I'd recommend you try first. I love the concept and branding, and I hope they are able to recapture the magic that made such a splash when they opened in DC.

I used to order from Lucky Danger a lot and took a break, I really loved their food. I was so excited to order from them again but after this order I'll never order again. When I opened the food, I noticed the orange slices were in a paper bag instead of the soup containers and I noticed they looked "seasoned" with some sort of spice from the outside. When I opened the bag, I was disgusted to find mold all over them. That made me feel iffy about the quality of the rest of the food if no one could obviously see the moldy orange slices they were packing. The food really went downhill in quality. For $10 for each entree, the meat portions were super skimpy and it was mostly filled with fillers like dried peppers and orange peels. The green beans used to be my favorite veggies to order and they just tasted plain salty. I gotta say I was really disappointed.

I made the mistake of letting reviews keep me from trying Lucky Danger. Perhaps they had growing pains a few years ago?Stopped in to order takeout after working late. I ordered at the counter on the counter tablet and watched them cook my dinner. The kitchen is completely open and the first thing I noticed was how incredibly spotless the kitchen was. I once inspected mess halls in the Army - which are almost always a lot cleaner than a commercial restaurant. I have never seen a kitchen this clean. What a pleasant surprise! The portions were more than generous - almost overflowing - they gal packaging my order had to squeeze the lid on.It was delicious. Yes, it's takeout Chinese. At $11, it seemed fairly priced to me.I will be returning!!
