I came here thinking it was Tex-Mex, but it was Tex-Mex only in name. I could tell it wasn't true Tex-Mex with the tortillas not being the same to what I'm accustomed to in Texas. I believe the owners were neither Mexican nor Texan, but were looking to cater to the American clientele that wanted Tex-Mex in the area. The fajitas were good but the quesadillas were better (and with it being easier and simpler to make, it's almost fool-proof).Service was friendly and attentive, and the ambience felt like a restaurant inside a car dealership (kind of hard to explain - maybe because of all the windows and the central open space with simple furniture) but still it was nice.

Thursday 10/24/24I made a takeout order via DoorDash and got the chicken enchiladas with green sauce $17, fiesta chicken quesadillas $14, and the sizzling steak fajitas al carbon $21.- I'm newer to enchiladas but for some reason the taste & texture reminded me of a tamale.- Chicken quesadillas were average at best.- The steak fajitas were okay and the streak was VERY chewy. All in all, The food wasn't bad but it wasn't particularly good either, it's just alright/average. The food is standard for what you would expect for Latin items but personally I wouldn't come back at all.

Came here today to try a New Mexican restaurant for Cinco de Mayo. Started with a house margarita (normally $10, $6 today for the holiday). It was very good. Combination of tangy and sweet. Nice size glass. After being seated, we were offered waters right away and then came chips and salsa. The salsa tasted fresh, heavy with onion and cilantro. I liked it because it tasted fresh and light. If you're looking for something spicy, this ain't it. But it is light and refreshing and the chips are crisp and tasty. We asked for and received promptly a refill of salsa. For app, got the fresh guacamole. It essentially is mashed up avocado. I didn't see or sense any tomato, onion or jalapeño in the taste. It was fine, but I've had better. A huge portion though for $8.99. For entree, I had the combo steak and shrimp fajita. ($23.99). Comes with 3 flour tortilla and the usual pico, sour cream, rice, pinto beans and shredded lettuce on a separate plate. I requested the steak medium and it came as requested, with good taste, well seasoned and not salty. A nice amount of cooked onions and green/red pepper slices on the sizzling skillet. My partner had the chicken taco salad ($15.99). It was large, with an iceberg lettuce base, with different sections of pico, guac, sour cream, corn, chicken, and carrots. Tasty and filling. The restaurant is somewhat small, but comfortable. Our table was near the bar, and it was a bit noisy every time the blender was turned on. The Staff were friendly and accommodating. We did have to ask to have our water glasses filled but, other than that, the service was fine. Bottom line, there's a lot of Mexican restaurants out there and I didn't see anything here to distinguish this place from any other. I would give it three stars, but that seems low. I'd like to give 3.5, but without that option I'll give it 4 stars, as it is a decent Mexican restaurant with a good margarita, but if you already have a favorite place, there's no need to try this one.

Los Primos is one of those unseen restaurants, tucked away on a side street off of Rockville Pike.We were glad we decided to check it out. It has become one of our go-to-places for Mexican type food.Every diner is welcomed with the homemade chips and tomato salsa which looks watery but is really quite flavorful: smoky and not really spicy which was exactly how we like our salsa. On our most recent visit,3 (all) of us went for their lengua tacos which were generous and delicious. In the past, we have tried their tripe soup, the seafood soup and the villa platter which has a variety of grilled meats. They also serve a very unique iced lemon drink which is addicting! The sopapillas were not exactly what I was expecting but it as good as most fried desserts are.The staff is welcoming and helpful.

We stop by this restaurant to for lunch. When we arrived there was only one table being occupied. Mexican music filled the restaurant. We were told that we could seat ourselves. Our waiter was friendly and professional. We started off with thrower red sangria and tamales. We ordered a green chile and a chicken one. The tamales were okay. We preferred the green chile one over the chicken tamale. The red sangria was alright as well. The stars of the lunch were the short ribs with rice, beans, and grilled vegetables as well as well as the steak tacos. Both were cooked to perfection and tasted amazing! The steak was well seasoned and tender. This restaurant was a nice surprise. We enjoyed the atmosphere, entrees, service. We hope to return soon.

I really like this place. The ambience is nice. It's informal but the tables have table clothes. The servers were nice and the food was really good. I got spinache pupusas and black beans. The chips and salsa were good too. My kid got some platter that came out sizzling with different meats, cheese, peppers, and onions. He really enjoyed it.

I drive past Los Primos all the time and have been wanting to give them a try for the longest time. We finally did on Friday night. We walked in and was told to just sit anywhere. We waited for quite a few minutes before anyone came by with water or menus. We didn't know what we were supposed to do. Was this a order at the counter place? When we were just about to get up and leave, someone did come by with menus. I asked her for water but she didn't come back with water. After having decided what we wanted, we still waited for someone to take our order. Another person did take our order and asked if we wanted anything to drink. Believing the first person wasn't actually going to come back with water, we asked for water with no straws (I always order drinks with no straws in order to use less plastic). We got water with straws. We both ordered the Steak a Caballo. This was a grilled NY strip steak topped with two fried eggs, served with Mexican rice, black beans, fried sweet plantains & sour cream. I asked that my steak be medium and no sour cream. The husband asked for medium well. Both our steaks came back medium well. I did not see any pink in my steak. I also got sour cream. I was really hoping the food was good to make up for the slow service. I didn't think the food was anything to rave about especially since my steak was not prepared correctly.

Nice place, I would say a hidden place. Arepas are very delicious!!! I would definitely come back for them. Platter for two is kind of small comparing to other Tex mex places. However, flavor is there - shrimps are cooked to perfection, ribs are delicious, beef is smoking good will definitely come back soon.

All of it, the presentation, the tastes, the portions. Yes, the parking sucks. Yes, the patio area is next to Twinbrook traffic, but inside is a comfy spot for fantastic Mexican food. Love it.
