Service is slow, although very polite and professional. We both ordered the steak nachos for lunch, which was tender and well seasoned. Only issue is that I had four small pieces, she had five. Less than you would expect for a huge amount of chips and cheese. She ordered a side of the guacamole, and loved it! The biggest surprise was the tres leches cake. Man that was amazing!! Other than the minuscule amount of steak we were served and extremely slow service, being that we were literally the only customers there it is a fairly decent restaurant. BTW- the salsa was probably the best I have had in the DMV:)

One of my new favorites since moving to Silver Spring! I have enjoyed everything I've ordered from Los Cobanos. I love the Carne Asada, nice portion, SEASONED with your typical sides.

I wanted to like this place based on other reviews and I hate to leave a bad reviews for small businesses, but this was one of the most underwhelming dining experiences in memory. The service was slow and our waitress got our order wrong repeatedly despite careful explanation (I ordered a chicken papusa and medium steak and was served bean papusa and well done steak, dessert was similarly misunderstood, waters were not refulled until I asked for it along with the check ). They had no meat kids meals so I ordered my 6 year old an adult Carne asada, which was a medium well rather than the requested well done. My Carne Asada was chewey, tough and flavorless. The beans were similarly flavorless and the rice was flat. To be fair, my spinach and cheese papusa was very good and one of the best in the area, and my wife did enjoy her Lomo saltada. Gratuity was automatic as well. Avoid if you have other options, and if the much better and nearby Vitorias happens to be open, which it feels like is seldom the case. They were probably understaffed but that is something to consider if you happen to stop by.

Actually 2.5 starsOkay it's 6:30 pm on a Saturday and no one is in here nada, zip, zero well except me and wifey. Now I do know that dinner time usually for these types of places start a little later than for some others but at least there should be a couple of people here. Well now it looks like another couple is having something over there but still talk about a ghost town. Why is it so dead? After running around all day doing typical married couple errands we found ourselves in Wheaton over by the mall. Me not having anything since morning breakfast and having to go all over the place. I can get a little bit cranky when I'm like this so the hunger demon was awakening in me in a major way, must feed it. It would be great to try something new here in Wheaton besides the usual Asian spots that we come here for. How about Salvadorean/Mexican but mostly Salvadorean Hummmm sounds good nuff let's go in I'm starvin like Marvin. Of course first thing we noticed no customers not a good sign usually in my "Book of Knowledge". Plenty of people hanging outside in the street but inside ..... Next thing after being seated is that they have a rather extensive almost too extensive menu. All kinds of listings for appetizers, soups of every mixture, burritos of every kind, chimichangas, too many Salvadorean specials to mention, tostadas, enchiladas, a sea full of sea food, there's whole section for egg dishes by themselves did I mention tacos? Can't remember but the list goes on and on and on. I had one of the many combinations of beef enchilada chile relleno and chicken tamale which was okay-dote but nothing to really write home about just decent. Wife had some type of grilled shrimp (of course) and also that was okay in a decent way. All was washed down with a somewhat watered down margarita and Corona. All just plain and decent arriving at our table on the slow side of the clock. Come to think of it, even the chips and salsa were just meh nothing that stands out and makes me want to come back for more even though we live within a close proximity of here. Prices are relatively reasonable and corresponds to the area and customer base. So this is nothing out of the ordinary just a place to come for a quick err not so quick bite, watch the soccer game on one of the 5 TVs have a few cervezas and that's it mang. Oh and don't be surprised that the toilets are very very small and don't have a sink in them. That you will find out in the open.... in the dinning area.... yeah I know, kind of weird right..... don't ask.

I gave this restaurant 3 stars because I felt it was just average. The pupusas were delicious. My boyfriend and I split both the pork and cheese and the spinach. There are many varieties to choose from but these came recommended by our server. Speaking of the server, she did not speak very much English but was super nice and friendly. So don't let the language barrier dissuade you, we easily got through the meal with lots of pointing at the menu. Unfortunately our main dishes are what gives this restaurant a bland rating. I got the pollo con guisado. The chicken can in a tomato like sauce ans was super moist but lacked flavor. The same for the rice. My boyfriend ordered the a Salvadorian beef dish, I can't recall the name. But it came on skewers. The flavor was ok but the meat was tough and over cooked. The margarita was very nicely made. And the price point is not bad. Two dinners, two pupuas, 1 margarita and a beer was $45 + tip. More expensive than the mexican restaurants in SC (where an enchilada, burrito rice and beans is about $5) but cheap compared to DC prices. Overall I think it is good for people trying Salvadorian for the first time, like we did today. Half of the menu is generic Mexican, so you have that safety net, and the food is pretty tame. Though not the most flavorful, you could still get a sense of the flavor profiles!

Location is great during the day, but don't go there in the evening if you are not familiar with the area. You'll run into working women on the streets, drunk people and police cars. Definitely not Mexican food, it's more Salvadorean. Their chicken with mushroom sauce is good.

I'm Mexican, so I speak Tex-Mex food, this was just bad. Tasteless chunks of chicken. Gross pico de gallo. Additional $2 for shrimp will get you 1 shrimp. Just horrible. Never again!
