Wow, I'm surprised i haven't reviewed Lassan yet. I have been there a few times since last discovering this place in October. Lassan has some best butter chicken! It's a basic dish but not all places get it right. Lassan definitely does it right! Another favorite here is the Lamb Shahi Korma--it's heavenly, especially if you get it kind of spicy. Lassan also has great cocktails which is pretty rare for indian restaurants in Virginia. I will continue to go here for sure!

Lassan is an Indian/Nepalese restaurant, located in the Rolling Valley plaza. We had read some high reviews on this place, so we were excited to try them out for dinner. We ordered:+the Butter Chicken - chicken marinated with spices and yogurt, baked in a tandoor oven, and cooked with a tomato-based sauce+the Shahi Korma - choice of roasted chicken or marinated lamb (we opted for the chicken), cooked in a coconut cashew sauce with saffron+garlic naan+aloo naanUnfortunately, everything was SALTY. I do love my salt, but either there was a mistake in terms of the seasoning, or the kitchen staff here are just heavy-handed with this. It was to the point that the items were inedible, as it was super unpleasant. The meats were just okay, but they were somewhat dried out, even in the sauces. The naans were forgettable, as they could have been more fresh and have more flavor; the aloo version was also inedible, as the spiced potato filling was salty. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated, and the staff were friendly; note that you may have to repeat yourself several times of your order(s), as there is somewhat of a language barrier.I'm glad I was able to check this place out, but, unfortunately, this was such a negative experience. We wouldn't return.+extremely salty food+avoid the naan+located in Rolling Valley plaza

We came for a birthday dinner and while I give 5 stars for the service I would have to give a 3.5 for the food itself, so really place for me was just barely 4. Hits:- the service. They put together some tables and accommodated us despite the last minute arrival on a busy evening and for that I was grateful; especially as they were quite patient with our party- Mango lassi colada: delish but dangerous. Can't really tell there is alcohol in there - Masala fries: delish but not dry so don't expect fries with some dry seasoning -- this is saucy. I loved, MIL didn't but I say if you want to try something different and can handle spice go for it. - Masala nachos: great fusion flavors, need more chips as compared to sauces/toppings. Had loads of leftover toppings left over but still worth trying as a fusion dish- Chicken momos: good but legit spicy, not for kiddos or those who can't tolerate- Daal tadka: good! Creamy and mild, great for kids- Achaari paneer: good Amount of paneer, really loved the achaari flavor but this one isn't for anyone who needs mild heat Misses:- Malai kofta: just fine, not anything special. Def don't get this mild because it's just flavorless not only heat-less- Aloo gobhi: what should be a dry sabzi comes out quite saucey. Fair warning. I wouldn't get again it's just so odd with all that gravy- Lemon rice: zero salt, which is just essential because lemon rice doesn't have a lotOf other seasonings it's a simple dish. Don't bother. I'd come back for a drink and apps. They have a nice bar area too, for just that. Might not stick around for mains.

I came here on Valentine's Day weekend, and it was packed! I was meeting a friend and we were fortunate enough to get a spot at the bar. We ordered a few appetizers - the pakore shrimp and samosa chaat. Both of these came out pretty quickly and were very tasty. For my entree, I ordered the Lassan's Kadai - Chicken. I liked that this dish wasn't overly salty. The portion size was pretty big too, and I had to pack half of it home. I knocked it down one star because service was almost non-existent, especially when I needed a drink refill. It could be because it was very busy at the time. Otherwise, I really enjoyed the food and will visit again.

Spent Valentines Day here. I was a little worried since most indian restaurants are run down and only cater to American Indian food but I was pleasantly surprised that every dish was packed with flavor and the atmosphere was elevated and modern. Our experience felt extra special because they offered everyone a complimentary welcome drink lemonade drink w a twist, live belly dancer and a dessert. We will definitely be back for the goat biryani, saag paneer and grill!

This is a modern Indian restaurant. It does get busy, so try to make reservations. But for walk ins you may have to wait. I loved the mango lassi colada. It was the right consistency and sweet for refreshing day. The tandoori lamb chops came out sizzling hot. The masala nachos was so good with the different sauce they use with the chicken. My favorite was the butter chicken of how creamy and flavorful it is. The lamb and goat biryani were highlight to dish to eat. They also gave us different naans to try which I liked the garlic one. Of course get the chai to complete it!

Been here a handful of times now, and they have the BEST butter chicken ever! I've had it about once a week so far, so it's safe to say this is my favorite Indian restaurant. The butter chicken is heavenly, and always comes out fresh and delicious. The chicken is moist and tender, and the curry is creamy, rich, and flavorful. I'm obsessed and could seriously eat this everyday! I've also had their chicken biryani, and while it's on the saltier side, it is so good. Their samosas are also amazing. The only thing I didn't like was their chicken tikka masala, because the chicken chunks are dry. Perhaps if they prepared the chicken the same way as they do their butter chicken (sliced instead of cubed), then it would be perfect! I have always done take-out but plan on eating there one day. It looks clean and modern! I love Lassan and will continue to be a loyal customer. Highly recommend!!

I've never tried Lamb Biryani before and was stuck between getting that or butter chicken, but I decided to try something new along with a new place! The service was nice and quick -- it was promised in 10 minutes and took less than that to reach our hands. The interior was very aesthetically pleasing and everything was clean and organized. The prices were also not bad for the amount of food and quality of food.I was so surprised to find that the lamb was so soft and pulled apart -- it was moist and seasoned great. The garlic naan was superb! We liked the lamb biryani but it was a bit too oily. I tried it with the yogurt sauce, and it wasn't bad but I'm not used to yogurt sauces and it took some getting used to. Because we did takeout, we didn't really have a lot of interactions with staff and with service. Hopefully when I'm back in town, we can try their other foods (I'm eyeing those samosas!) and dine in, too! Their food all seemed really yummy.

The restaurant was pretty empty for a Friday night, however, our service was wonderful. This was our first time eating at an Indian restaurant. The server was very thorough i explaining what came in the dishes and what spice levels were available. We got the veggie samosas for an appetizer, they came out quick and were really tasty. I got the chicken tikka masala with garlic naan. My boyfriend got the goat biriyani and his son got the chicken biriyani. I loved mine! That garlic naan was fantastic for dipping in the tikka masala sauce. My boyfriend loved his goat biriyani and his son is new to different foods, so he had to warm up to it. Overall, nice experience, nice clean environment, nice staff. Can't wait to try something else on the next visit.

Really good takeout but definitely expensive! The butter chicken had such a good flavor - slightly sweet and very tender chicken. The saag paneer was also great and they put a ton of paneer in this dish. I got both dishes mild and they still had a tiny bit of a kick. The saag was flavorful and not too mushy like some places make it. I would definitely order from here again.
