In search of some African food, we stumbled upon this on UberEats. And honestly, it's not bad. It's very hard to find this kind of food in the area so it satisfied my craving. We got Jollof Rice with Fried Chicken and Fish. The jollof was super delicious and flavorful. It's more tomato-y and spicy than others I've had. The chicken was nothing extraordinary, but the fish was fried very well! The side salad was a nice touch. It was refreshing and delicious. We also got Fufu with Peanut Butter Soup and with goat and chicken as our protein. I really enjoyed the fufu (imagine very sticky mashed potatoes in a ball made from cassava)! The soup was not what I expected at all. I could not eat more than a few bites since it was almost fermented? It is definitely an acquired taste so I don't recommend it if you're not ready to be adventurous.

I ordered through Doordash and the food took a while to arrive but I ordered well in advance as I saw the time frame. Upon arrival it was still very hot which was amazing! I ordered the Egusi and Fufu + Jollof rice and the fufu was an amazing texture, the jollof rice was so so good and the egusi personally could have been a tad more flavorful.Overall would absolutely try more dishes from here!

La Paz African Restaurant is a charming spot that offers a delightful culinary journey through African flavors. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, with cute decor that adds to the overall experience. The service is good; the staff are friendly and attentive, making sure you feel welcomed and comfortable throughout your visit. The food at La Paz is delicious and authentically prepared, offering a variety of dishes that showcase the rich and diverse flavors of African cuisine. Each dish is well-seasoned and cooked to perfection, making it a treat for the taste buds. However, it's worth noting that the wait for food can be slightly long. While this might be a minor inconvenience, the quality of the food more than makes up for it. Overall, La Paz African Restaurant is a great spot to enjoy good food and good service in a cute setting. Highly recommended for those looking to explore African cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere.

Both the service and the food are OK but not great. This small place is in a strip mall along a busy highway so GPS is recommended to find it. The restaurant is fairly clean inside and serves with real dishes (vs. disposable ware found at competitors). The menu offers a range of starch bases (eg, fufu) and fish/meat accompaniments. Our dislikes were (1) too few green-vegetable options and (2) food was too dry. They gave us little plastic cups of seasoning but no sauce on the food itself. Also disappointing: although this is an African restaurant the only decor was two panels of factory-produced art from China.

UPDATE: Okay, so i definitely believe i caught them on a off day the first time i ordered (forgot to mention their ac was out that day too so that must've been stressful) but we've ordered twice since & the foods amazing. And the fish has been crisp & clean inside. still packed with flavour and juicy as it was the first time. The flavors were never lacking, as i said before their sauces are amazing and packeddd with flavor. The shitto is sooooooo soooo good. And they have the best plantains I've had, so good with their pepper sauces too! I know some people say you cannot mess up plantains but yes you can, this place just gets it right with the right texture, their fluffy, and they fry them perfectly. The younger man working in the front was very nice, actually everyone here have been great. The wakye is so good, again the sauces are so flavor ful here. I'm going to try it with fish and beef next time as I don't like the chicken option, it was two thighs fried hard, that's just not for me, but others may like it.I have not had their soups yet but they look tasty, I am very excited to try the peanut butter soup next visit. As the Acheke and wakye are reallyyyy good, I definitely recommend. Tip: call at-least 20 mins ahead for pickup orders

We're always on the lookout for new food to try and Lapaz African Cuisine fit the bill since we've never had Ghanaian food before. From the pictures and descriptions, the food here looked too good to pass up. We stopped by for weekday lunch and got:Fried Yam w/ Tsofi ($12.99) - This came with 6 or 7 pieces of perfectly fried African yam, 3 pieces of turkey tail, and some shito/tomato? to dip things in. Both the crisp and fluffiness of the yam were amazing - I actually thought this was better than french fries from most restaurants. The turkey tail was also fried perfectly, with a crisp outer layer and fatty/cartilaginous meat that tasted super turkey-like. It is the literal opposite of the dry, bland Thanksgiving turkey one is used to, or the sliced turkey lunchmeats found in sad deli sandwiches. In fact, we did some research and found that you cannot find the turkey tail on the prepackaged, mass-produced turkeys sold in the US. It's removed during processing and sold separately. (I have never seen this cut sold though, so it must be at specialty stores/butchers.) The side soup/dip was pretty spicy to me and had an interesting taste that I can't really describe. Fishy, spicy, and earthy? I haven't had anything like it before, but it was very good and complemented the fried yam.Jollof Rice w/ Fried Chicken ($14.99) - Came with the rice, a small side salad, 2 drumsticks and a thigh. This jollof rice was amazing, like a perfectly cooked Mexican rice but with mild heat and different spices. The side salad came with a mayo/vinegar dressing, and otherwise looked like a standard garden salad. The chicken, once again, was fried perfectly. No breading, but the skin gave it that extra crisp while the fat underneath was rendered out, and the chicken remained extremely juicy on the inside. This also came with a small cup of shito. I have no idea why this place isn't more popular - in the entire hour-ish we were there, there were only two takeout orders being picked up. Everything we had was perfectly cooked and seasoned, and the portion sizes were generous. The dishes on the menu are very memorable. I would definitely come back time and time again if I lived closer to Lapaz!

Wow! This is the best seasoned, flavorful and delicious food I've had in a while! I ordered the jollof rice with chicken and beef, and the fried plantains. Both dishes did not disappoint, and the sauces are exquisite. Super excited to try other items on the menu! Thank you for the great food:)

I LOVE Ghanaian jollof so when I found out this place was open, I headed there with a close friend of mine to try it out. The inside is a bit small and cozy, but clean and open with just enough space between each of the tables. The gentleman who greeted us was nice and helpful in explaining some of the items on the menu, so I appreciated that. We had to wait a little for our food, but didn't mind because the food came out hot and fresh. As pictured, I got the jollof. Rice was absolutely delicious and paired well with the crispy, yet juicy fried chicken drumsticks. The salad also complimented the meal and helped to tone down the spiciness of the jollof rice. I also got the peanut butter soup to go for my sister and tried a bit of it a few hours later. Also very tasty. It makes me so happy that I can get Ghanaian food in Manassas now, so I'll definitely be coming back here again.

I was visiting Manassas and had a taste for some really authentic African cuisine. Rest assured this hidden gem popped up on Yelp so I decided to venture it. The food was phenomenal I ordered jollof rice, a side of goat, okra soup. The meal was fresh and well prepared and seasoned really good. I felt the portion size / pricing was really good too. The customer service was awesome too and they went over the menu to ensure I found something I would truly enjoy. I am most definitely going back!!Parking is Available Non-Alcoholic Drinks - you can go next store if you want a wine. There's a liquor store next to the restaurant. Seating - Traditional Take Out place but seating is available to sit down and enjoy your meal.

As we walked in to try some African food after not getting at the African American . The service is excellent and as someone that doesn't know about African food i had questions about the menu and they were able to explain everything and recommend what to order . The food took time to make but i see that it is quality that was well made of the food . Very nice .
