I'll be honest... this restaurant sort of reminds me of the people in New York City that lay out large blankets filled with cheap goodies and a menagerie of touristy knick knacks; in the sense that at anytime it seems that this operation could fold up it's blanket into a bindle sack and dip real quick. There are tables, there are chairs, there is two practically empty refrigerator cases that make up the front counter. One is holding a giant box of plastic utensils, the other is basically filled with trash. If your foodie spirit is any bit inflated by the sign outside that reads "Bakery- Cakes for all occasions" the air will surely be let out by the state of the interior. That being said, cause it's unavoidably in your face, and I can't NOT say it- the food is quite good! And I'm just one of those people where if the food is good... I can overlook the somewhat haphazard dirty atmosphere. I decided to get the Mexican Breakfast which comes with 2 tortillas, eggs on top, a bit of refried beans, a bit of fresh cheese, and avocado mash. It was freakin' delicious. The eggs on the menu stated that he were over hard I think, but the gentleman at the front asked if I wanted them hard or runny. "Runny" of course I replied promptly. They were cooked REALLY well. The tortillas in the dish were certainly handmade, thick, little pucks of masa. Wish they had a little more flavor, but they were much more welcome than a heated up pre-made tortilla. The avocado was fresh, refried beans were delish, and the cheese was the perfect compliment. I'd eat that meal for breakfast everyday if I could. So, if you're willing to ignore the state of affairs in there, be assured that you're in for something special.

Open for carry out only during COVID.Food is great from breakfast dishes to their churrascos. If you want some comfort food from Guatemala that you will not see in many places order GARNACHAS. They are a tasty appetizer very similar to Mexican Sopes..

The owner was very pleasant and attentive to my needs. He spoke good English (a rarity among immigrant owned restaurants I have patronized) and my food came out fast hot and very tasty. This place used to be La Escudilla and now is under new ownership and called La Pasion! I've been to the former and today I went and ate under the new ownership. Which now also has a bakery!I ordered what is in the picture I uploaded eggs avocado refrained beans and salsa on a tostada instead of a handmade tortilla. I also had the yuca fritas. The good was tasty and had a home cooked taste. I paid $6 for the breakfast item and 3 for the fritas and 1 for the drink. My total was 10.50$ not bad! I love supporting local owned businesses. I even love this place more because I was able to comprehend and communicate with the staff. El Golfo is another favorite place where they speak good English. I hate to sound like a snobby ignorant American but when I'm paying for something I like to understand what I'm getting and this Was a pleasant experience. I didn't give it all the stars because when I came in the owner was sweeping with all the chairs in disarray and the place was a little unkempt. But other than that magnifico! (Uh oh wrong country lol) #ignorantAmerican

Lack of flavor, I tried their pupusas it was corn cake with nothing inside, carne asada it was poor quality and no flavor at all. Customer service ok, overall, food is not their big speciality.

Delicious food! I've been looking for garnachas since La Bamba in Silver Spring closed and thrilled to have found them! We loved the garnachas, churrasco guatemalteco, and pupusas. All the sides were delicious too-- beans were flavorful and fries were nice and crispy. The only thing I wouldn't order again is the pollo asado, which was very dry. Will definitely order from here again and hope to try their breakfast soon.

I feel like I got super lucky finding this hidden gem! I actually just went in to get a spoon to finish my cold arroz con leche I bought earlier from a street vendor which they happily provided. I asked the girl behind the counter what she was eating, she explained it was a Salvadorian treat called "hojuelas" It looked like a crispy chewy flaky bubbly fried dough with a sweet brown glaze but they still had some left so they gave me one to go for free! OMG how random sweet is that!!! :-) I ended up eating it there and suggested adding it to the menu. I didn't have time to try anything else but from glancing at other customers entrees, Im definitely excited to come back and explore their menu!

I checked out this bakery for the first time today and I wasn't disappointed. There were several different options for desserts: tarts, cupcakes, chocolate covered strawberries. I had a piece of opera cake which was very good. It appeared clean and the man working was so kind. I look forward to visiting again.
