La Mexicana Bakery & Taqueria

For the second year in a row we got a large order of the tamales to share with the family for Christmas. This place is legit. Amazing food and lovely staff. It may look like a typical strip-mall business from the outside, but done be deceived. They have an extensive menu that's Well with the trip. It's official - this is now part of our annual tradition.

Very unassuming location but the food is great and customer service is nice. I highly recommend the soupa de rez when you're feeling under the weather. Also the chicken tamales are super yummy!

I heard about this place and wanted to try it out. The place was empty when I got there on a Saturday afternoon. I ordered a California burrito (which was more a good chunk more than a chipotle burrito). Despite me being the only person it took forever. It was good and huge. Would I go out of my way to go back, no. Maybe if I was in the area but it is not that stand out to be honest.

We recently moved to the area and found this spot on Yelp. We love it! We usually place our orders on Yelp for takeout and the food is prepared so quickly. Our favorite item from here are the birria tacos. The meat was really flavorful and the consume was great. I ordered without cheese because dairy upsets my stomach but I'm sure it would taste even better with cheese! We also tried the California burrito, Mexicuban Torta, and carne asada burrito. All were great and we would definitely order from here again. We also ordered the cookies and chocolate cake from the bakery and they were delicious.

The food taste was good and pretty decent compared to those we tried. I wish they offer lime rice but they don't- their cali burrito was really good and their quesabirria was decent compared to those I had tried in VA. The price and amount of food, it could be improved to make every penny counts. Service was okay, she was nice. The place is small and usually does takeout or to go. Also their restroom was closed when we visited so it's hard to dig in with finger foods if you can't wash your hands. Hoping it is not always the case.

I found this restaurant searching on Yelp and decided to try it based on the amazing reviews. The food was very fresh and came out in a timely manner. We ordered the birria tacos 5/5 sooo good and authentic. Probably the best I have ever had. They were even good after a 30 min drive home. The prices were amazing and we cannot wait to return. Pork tamale was 5/5 sooo flavorful. Pupusas 5/5 very goodRice and Beans both were delicious 5/5Guac was good but could use a little more lime and salt 3/5. Pico and salsa were tasty 5/5.

Based on my last review I knew I hadn't been in a while, I took my husband there the other day. This place is just as good as I remember the inside has changed just a little bit from my last visit 11 years ago. All of the bakery items are at the front of the store. Still an excellent menu, the food was all made to order and again the staff was super nice as well. I saw on the wall they got some well deserved accolades and a people like us on yelp sticker on the front door. Again, I sadly don't live close by but thankfully when we went traffic was cooperative and hopefully when my husband gets another craving we will come back out and enjoy more that their wonderful menu has to offer! I've missed you La Mexicana!

This is a small restaurant that you can sit and eat in. They offer baked goods and birthday cakes. When I eat here I get the chicken and steak tostadas. Fairly quick service.

Best Mexican food we've had in VA. Service was very fast and friendly. We tried the chicken taquitos, California burrito, and carne asada fries. The rice was so good my husband ordered a whole second side!

Amazing food. Love the birria tacos in particular. Highly recommend for authentic Mexican food.
