I came here because of the review being so high on google. I absolutely disappointed. It was low quality. I would rather check out 'sima' instead. Food quality is absolutely low. Service was a bit hectic. Their kiosk was having an issue so I had to keep calling for server. It was the hectic environment. I honestly won't come back here again.

Kura Revolving Sushi offers a fun and interactive dining experience with its conveyor belt system. The convenience of ordering specific dishes through an iPad is a nice touch. However, the quality of the sushi and the overall efficiency of the system could be improved. While the idea of revolving sushi is intriguing, the execution at Kura Revolving Sushi fell short. The sushi often appeared less than fresh, and the plates on the belt were frequently empty. This meant waiting for dishes to make multiple rounds before they reached your table, which can be frustrating.Given the price point of $3.50 per plate, it's essential that the quality of the sushi meets expectations. While the concept is unique, it may not be worth the cost for those seeking a high-quality sushi experience.

Cool concept for revolving sushi. You can either order directly from a little tablet above the table or pick up your food directly from the conveyor belt.Staff were really nice. But the sushi itself was mediocre. Seating is a bit cramped if you're 4 people in a booth. The way it's set up, you have to reach over other people to order or pick food up. Prices were not too bad though, about $4 per dish.

This is a cool place to come with friends once just for the conveyer belt gimmick, but I wouldn't recommend if you are looking specifically for quality sushi, or are used to a higher standard sushi.Overall, I think there have to be better sushi spots than this place in terms of overall quality and taste, as some of the rolls pieces slightly fell apart when you picked them up or just weren't great quality fish (odd tasting sweet shrimp that we sent back or tuna with a slight bite to it). While they did have some pretty good options like the popcorn shrimp roll and a lot of the crunch rolls, the quality of the shrimp and tuna left some to be desired. There was also a line to get into the store. We were originally told 10-20 minute wait time, only to wait 1/2 hour for a text to tell us our table was ready and then when we got back to the restaurant had to wait another 15-20 minutes to be seated despite being told our table was ready. Overall, about 50 minutes. The conveyer belt sushi line is definitely a cool aspect of this place. They have random selections going around the bottom belt, and you can place specific orders using the tablet and it will be sent directly to your table on the top belt. In addition, there is a little robot that will deliver your drinks instead of a waiter/waitress. When you see the cute robot, it is sure to make you smile as it plays music and approaches your table.

This place was definitely an experience! It was my first time ever going to a revolving sushi bar, and man it did not disappoint. To start, the decorum of the restaurant is mixed. The place is very small for what type of restaurant it is. My friend and I got lucky and pretty much had a little space to right by the front, but if I had sat at one of the tables deeper in, I would've struggled a little. The service wasn't anything to complain about. Since it's basically self-serve, servers weren't really needed. However, our server made sure our drinks were always available. Nice touch to the overall experience. Props to the cooks for making the food so fast! Now for the main course. The food was good. The majority of the sushi was prepared nicely. Was it excellent and ravishing? Not particularly, but it's an amazing experience if you want to try new sushi outside of what you're normally offered. Three did stand out: Salmon Yukhoe, Seared Salmon with Japanese Mayo, and Crispy Rice with Spicy Salmon. I'm actually a tuna girl when it comes to sushi, but these were SO good, it was the reason this review is 4 stars. The takoyaki was okay, maybe I'm just used to the usual toppings because it threw me off a little. For me, it had this weird, tangy, taste. The cheesecake was pretty good though, super creamy and not too sweet, I would recommend that as a finishing plate.Overall I'll be back here. It was a good experience. I spent around $45 for 20 plates (I only know I ate that much because you get a little prize every 20 plates!). Definitely go with friends, it's the perfect place for a group activity!

Been here a few times, and each time it's been the same experience. Some sort of wait time (anywhere between 10-20 minutes). Sushi is middle of the road, but it's nice that you can just grab most of what you want on the conveyer belt. It's not the best sushi, but certainly not the worst. There's a few rows of booths in the restaurant which is fairly empty on the weekdays, but can get really packed on the weekends.

I know we might use the word "mid" to say that something is bad, but i'm so serious when i say this place is mid. There's almost no customer service because you order and grab food yourself. The pricing is anywhere between cheap and expensive depending on the specific plate you order. The food is not bad, but it's nothing to write home about. But I would happily come back to Kura. It has a special place in my heart because it's one of the go-to sushi spots my family and my childhood best friend would visit. I'm glad there's one in DC to remind me of home tbh

This was a really fun experience! I went with a friend and we tried 13 plates between us, so we got to sample quite a bit. It isn't top-tier sushi, but it's solid and has a lot of fun specialty rolls. We loved the rolls with egg yolks in them the best - they were absolutely delicious. The takoyaki was also wonderful, and I strongly recommend that. The desserts were nothing special, but we were curious because they seemed unique, so we sampled the cheese tart (tasty but nothing special) and the Japanese donuts (tasted just like funnel cake at a fair, which isn't bad at all but wasn't what we expected). Grabbing trays from the conveyor belt was a blast, and we loved having plates shot out to us as well, so I recommend it for the novelty - we were loving it. The downside is that there's really no human service; you have to order the water and all individual refills, which meant we were thirsty a fair bit of the time. Overall, it was a really enjoyable experience,.and I would go back and take others there. It's not top-tier sushi, of course, but it's really solid for what it is, and the price is reasonable - we didn't have to eat 13 full plates of sushi; we just got excited and kept grabbing more! The restaurant was clean, it was easy to figure out how ordering worked, and it felt welcoming.

We are here to celebrate our daughter's bday and she wants to celebrate it here. The place is a bit crowded & small but seems to be a crowd favorite. The nice and efficient staff were quick to give us instructions on how to order through the menu board and they were also fast to clear our table of unneeded plates from the appetizers. So here we are, she wants to get the price from the drop ball after 15 plates. Each plate is $3.75. So the quest to consume 15 plates of variety offers from the revolving train of sushi offers commenced. Her sisters of course are more than willing to hit 15 plates as fast as they can inhale. The rest of the minutes were spent having fun trying each eel, each seafood, each Wagyu, each sea urchin... it was fun to try. Some are testing your faith in the chef and most of others are just perfect and delicious. The meat are soft & are perfectly done while the sea urchin was the least favorite. But the soup are delicious. Through each bite goes with it facial expressions that are too funny to recount. Great adventure and delicious food and family bonding. Oh and they gave free ice cream for my daughter's birthday. In the end she got the one egg drop and the yellow key chain she wanted. Yay! Thanks Kura for a great memory.

I came for a late weekday lunch (around 2 p.m.).Atmosphere: 2/5. Eh. Laidback but didn't feel clean or super welcoming. The revolving dishes come covered with plastic lids that look scratched and beaten. Maybe they're clean but they don't look like it. Not sure why the containers are gendered (Mr. Fresh). Took a few minutes for a server to take me to a seat even though no one was in front of me and the restaurant looked almost empty. I kinda felt like I was being a bother just coming into the restaurant. Also my seat didn't have a soy sauce dish; I had to take one from the empty seat next to me. I wasn't sure if the dish was clean but I really needed soy sauce so I just sucked it up.Service: 2.5/5. On top of the slow start, I wish the waiters would walk around and check on folks, at least visually. I understand the experience is largely self-service with the revolving dishes, plethora of (IMO overwhelming) signage with directions, and touch screen menu. But I don't really like how, again, activity was slow yet the waiters were just hanging out in corners talking to each other. If people order dishes from the menu, then finish those dishes, the empty dishes then sit there the entire time until you leave. Or if a customer (like me! because I misremembered the verbal instructions and misread the overwhelming sign in front of me) doesn't follow directions correct and puts the dish back on the belt, and it sits there for at least 10 minutes, please come to the customer and politely help them correct their mistake. Also the self-service touch screen is kinda buggy. There is a confirmation screen that your order has successfully been placed (hot tea in my first case). I let it sit there for almost 10 minutes. I was surprised my tea hadn't come yet. I hit "OK" on the confirmation screen, then a sound chimed, and my tea came a few minutes later. Also when I went to pay, I tried doing the mobile option, but the screen went weird, and it gave me the impression that I couldn't do the mobile option at all. I waited a minute for the screen to settle down, then tried again and was able to pay with my phone.Food: 2/5. The only good food was the one I ordered a la carte, which was a beef udon. The revolving dishes did not taste fresh -- particularly the raw fish sushi ones. Another was an umami oil seared beef (nigiri? it was on a little bed of rice) where I would've expected the beef to be hot, or at least warm; but it was cold.Would I come back here again? Maybe if I am in the mood to not be bothered by people and I can just order snacks or a small meal a la carte. I saw someone at another table with their laptop working, so maybe that's ok too during the slow late lunch hours.
