I had an amazing experience at Kramers this morning! I ordered a coffee, the maple sausage patty, and the bananas foster waffle. The waffle was incredible--perfectly balanced and full of flavor! I requested no pecans on mine, and it was still absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was wonderful, with great vibes and a top-tier book selection. The books were well-organized and easy to find, making it a joy to browse. They also have a café if you're in a hurry and want to grab something to go.

What a delightful concept! Its really a place where you bring careful thoughtfulness, I see people browse the bookstore, study at the front like a coffee shop, or use this as a brunch spot. And when we do all these things, we're partaking in the magic of reading! Even when you open up the menu, my favorite detail are the book inspired drinks and cocktails, I mean how cheeky, so unafraid to reference what its all about. As a student, finding a study spot with substantial food, decent seating and an outlet could be so hard to find but if you find a good spot, Kramers just meet all those top things I'm looking for when you thrive on atmospheric studying. The food has always been fabulously amazing without being too pretentious. When you decide to the menu identity to be New American Classic, we're really looking not really looking for a high end meal, but we are looking for the most elevated version of what a dinner kitchen can achieve. And by the looks of walking by their small central open kitchen, they are cooking good eats! Although on the price side when it comes to dinner establishments, they deliver in great quality (for being in the thick of the city) and gigantic portions. Crab Cake Pasta had a generous portion of light aldente noodles and simple (could have used a slice of lemon). I felt so nostalgic ordering a pot pie and to my anticipation it was amazing and had so much filling! I was told their whole breakfast-lunch menu is stellar. Do go here at least once!

If you know me, I am a SUCKER for combo places, so a bookstore/coffee shop/brunch spot is right up my alley. I came here on a Sunday morning with a big group of friends, and they were able to accommodate us quickly despite how busy it was inside. Our party also showed up at erratic times, and everything still worked out great. The food and drinks were solid, the service was attentive and quick, and the price point was very fair, especially for this area. I really enjoyed being able to feel the atmosphere of a bookstore while having brunch. My only note that it is quite chaotic and loud inside with so many different things going on, so it can be overstimulating for some. Definitely keep that in mind if you prefer more peaceful environments.Lastly, a pro tip is that there is a bigger bathroom upstairs. Don't be like me and spend way too long waiting for the one downstairs to open up.

When we arrived, we were promptly greeted by a staff member. It was a bit of a wait so we just checked out the bookstore until we were called (convenient)! This was my first time eating at Kramers, but not my first time at the book store. I LOVE the bookstore. We were a small group! We were quickly waited on. Since it was so cold, I ordered the tea pot with early grey tea, almond milk, and vanilla syrup. Wonderful! However, they forgot to bring out the tea pot for another person in our party. I ordered the salad that comes with the green goddess dressing. I also ordered all the fixings on the side and no quinoa. (Unfortunately, the menu on the website is different from the one on here and online so I don't have the full name.) As the food came out, we noticed a trend that they don't get the orders correct most of the time. However, they quickly remade my salad for me and fixed the other orders. Towards the end of the meal, I got another tea pot but with lavender syrup. I liked the vanilla syrup best! I appreciate the servers keeping a positive attitude and fixing the mistakes. Here's my concern- Kramers has been around for so long and is a fixture in the community - how is it that money isn't available to remodel it? The bathrooms weren't the cleanest (or up to date), a part of the restaurant sloped, and the layout of the dinning area doesn't flow well.

I love the Kramers environment, any place I can get a good meal, a good drink, AND a book is a 10/10 in my book. I've brought many locals and out of towners here and everyone always speaks very highly of it. I've been at varying times of days and the staff always has a spot for me or there's minimal wait. While the staff is attentive, I appreciate that they leave me and my friends to gab or for me to read my book.Definitely a DC classic. PS. Please bring back the campfire martini this winter.

Came for breakfast and got sticker shock from the prices. Staff was a mixed bag as the young man was quick and helpful but the young lady not so much. The plastic greens on the ceiling smell like dust. Staff dragging the wet bins were loud and grumpy. Avocado toast and Salmon overpriced. Everyone was yanking at their tough bread with their teeth.

You definitely get the bang for your buck here. I was worried you will get not a lot of food for a lot of money but that wasn't the case here. The food was fine. The kale salad with the bagel was weird and I ordered a fruit cup that was like 6 slices of strawberries and 3 blackberries... so save your money on that. The servers were fine and attentive so no complaints there. The half bookstore half restaurant vibe is cool. Made it really unique. The reason I was giving it a 4 star is the was soooo much cream cheese on that bagel. You can see it's busting out the top in my photo. With everything else on it, I would like it to not dominate the sandwich. It was like 2 scoops too much. Other than that, it was good.
