We had an incredible dinner at Kismet Modern Indian. The menu was inventive and had different flavors than I have tasted at any other Indian restaurant. We had the hyderabadi dum biryani (chicken) with raita (yogurt sauce), the lamb ghee roast, and goat cheese naan. I am obsessed with the goat cheese naan and if I had eaten that alone, I would have felt it was well worth it.I visited the restaurant on a date and the atmosphere was modern and cozy. This location would be good for a date or meeting friends. The service was incredible. Every single member of staff was friendly and attentive to our needs almost instantly. There has been a great deal of thought that has gone into this restaurant to make it exceptional. We will definitely be back.

I took my husband there for his birthday and I loved the ambiance and the friendly staff. They are very helpful and go over the menu with you. We started off with tofu appetizers. I ordered the branzino fish and I took off a star because the piece was so small I had to ask the waiter where it was on my plate. Then we moved over to desserts and hot teas which was about the best Indian tea I have had. I loved the mango dessert. The carrot dessert was too sweet for me. I pretty much loved all the dishes except for a vegetarian dish that had what tasted like marinara sauce. Just heads up, dishes are small and expensive so you will leave hungry even when you order lots of plates but the experience was nice.

Very lovely Indian restaurant in Alexandria with a nice ambiance and attentive service. We ordered the chicken tikka appetizer, garlic naan, chicken masala and lamb ghee roast. I was a little worried of the curry dishes would be too spicy, but it was the perfect balance of spice and flavor. The chicken tikka appetizer was very juicy and tender, it melts like butter in your mouth. Also, their mint chutney pairs really well with the lamb ghee roast, it just brightens up the whole dish. Overall my favorite dishes were the lamb roast and the garlic naan! Must try!

The interior is very nice and upscale! It's definitely a modern twist on Indian food, so I would keep that in mind if you're looking for something more authentic. We tried the puffed rice appetizer which we didn't care for, and the lamb kabob which was good but nothing special. The chicken tikka masala was very flavorful and we really enjoyed this dish! The naan was super fresh and hot, very delicious, but kind of reminded us of pizza dough lol. Overall pretty good but I prefer more authentic Indian ! Service was quick

Kismet is now one of my favorite spots in Alexandria!!!The food is absolutely delicious - my entire table was just eating and smiling in silence because it was so good. None of us had alcohol but I did have a diet coke which was delivered in a glass container + a cup with ice and a straw (definitely speaking to my diet coke loving heart). The ambiance is definitely classy and slightly more upscale - and the prices also do reflect that.Service was good! I think the owner approached us once or twice to check in which I always appreciate and respect about a restaurant. Will absolutely be returning!

Solid Indian restaurant in Alexandria. Cool vibe for dining in and also a great option for takeout. Recommend the tikka masala, biryani, paneer pesto, and all of their naans are great!

I had the good fortunate to accept an invite to Kismet. The service was good, informative and welcoming. The atmosphere was nice, it was a homey feel or big and lavish, it had "clean lines" and looked and felt comfortable. The food was good, not great and not the best Indian food I have had. I always compare it to my friend Sheena and Jabez's home cooked Indian meals...shout out to Sheena!! And this wasn't as good but it was good. Would I go back, yes, it wouldn't be my first choice to recommend but if you're in old town Alexandria don't pass them by! You will enjoy it as long as you don't go in with expectations.

There are times when the people eat faster than the camera lol this is one of those instance. Been here once before spontaneously with a friend because we were in the area and looking to grab dinner and saw advertisement for this restaurant and then a passerby who's been was like YOU HAVE TO GO! When we went we really enjoyed the food (especially the goat cheese naan) so we got more friends to join us this time around. We got the amritsari snapper, paneer pesto, goat cheese naan to share and I got the nilgiri chicken & housemade ice cream (rose). I enjoyed everything and learned that the menu is seasonal so guess that's another reason to return every so often. Get the goat cheese naan! Vegetarian friendly place

Kismet Modern Indian is a beautiful, relaxing, modern and hip Indian fusion restaurant in Old Town Alexandria. When I say "fusion", that's because the dishes reflect all regions of India, a unique differentiator compared to most Indian restaurants that specialize in a certain region's cuisine. The space has a bar next to the main dining room. Service is friendly, clear and attentive. The servers and manager operate as a team, refilling drinks and clearing away dishes, delivering food and checking in to ensure a great guest experience. The drinks and food were delicious. I started with a spicy Tiger's Tail mocktail ($9), with chili water, blood orange, turmeric and ginger. As a fan of spicy margaritas, this was the perfect mocktail to mimic my former favorite alcohol drink. For an appetizer, I tried the Tangy Sweet Potato ($12),with tamarind sauce. The texture of it was so soft that it melted in my mouth. There was a spicy house sauce to accompany it, along with more tamarind sauce, and I loved every bite. For my main, I had the Pindi Chickpeas ($20) and Lemon Rice ($8), with Whole Wheat Roti ($4), all vegan. The chickpeas were incredibly filling and were spiced with ginger and onion. The rice was very flavorful, and I almost ate every bite even though I got full quickly, because it was so good. The service was excellent. The vibe and dance/pop music was hip. The food was top-notch Indian fare. I'd highly recommend this as one of the best restaurants I've visited in Old Town Alexandria.

Slightly upscale restaurant that puts a modern spin on classic Indian foodThe space is somewhat sheek and stylish, and there is both table and bar seating. The staff were all very friendly, and the owner went around to all of the tables greeting everyoneMy GF and I split a garlic naan, and I opted for a shrimp curry while she went with a chicken tikka masala. Both dishes were very tasty, but there were only 5 pieces of shrimp in my dish (which was a little underwhelming for the $36 price tag)Have a solid cocktail menu as well
