Kimen Ramen & Izakaya

1 of 3 locations; I've only been to this one. It's in the same strip as Bontea and O-bread, so naturally we hopped over to Bontea for a sweet treat after. Service was quick and polite. Ambiance is a fun Japanese-themed restaurant- very casual. I'm not a huge Japanese ramen person but enjoyed my meal here. We started with chicken karaage. Crunchy, juicy, lemony- good! I got the original Kimen ramen, and my friend got the shoyu ramen. We both liked mine better; I don't really know why, but my friend said the broth was better. I thought shoyu ate slightly saltier. Both came with jammy eggs, yum. I LOVE bamboo shoots, so I ate some of hers. Will come again!

Kimen has a new location in Centreville!Kimen has two other locations currently, including Fairfax and Annandale (although this location is said to be closed as that area is demolished for redevelopment.) They're known for offering traditional Japanese food ranging from ramen to donburi.Unlike the Fairfax location, the aesthetics of the Centreville location are very clean and modern. I kind of like the comic/manga/anime vibe of the Fairfax location a little more, but this place is very cute, too.Here's what I tried:-Gyoza - pan fried and with a nice dumpling "skirt"; good dipping sauce, too.-Spicy Ramen - actually a little spicy! but not too much. Added a side of corn. The egg was perfectly jammy.-Shrimp Katsu - Perfectly deep fried to a nice golden brown color. I got mine as a meal, but you can also get it with curry.Glad to have another ramen option in Centreville!

We got the spicy ramen, dipping ramen, and agedashi tofu--each dish had great flavor without the salt overload common in other local joints.The spicy ramen had just the right kick, the dipping ramen was a fun, interactive treat, and the agedashi tofu was a crispy delight.Plus, the service was top-notch, making our meal even more enjoyable.For a ramen experience that's both tasty and balanced, Kimen is a must-visit! By the way, their "extra hot" hot sauce is legit. A few drips goes a long way!

This location is wonderful! The ramen is taste, the Chashu is tender, and the egg is well seasoned and jammy inside. I have also their their other dishes like the gydon and tantanmen which were also delicious! I have enjoyed everything I've tried so far and this will definitely be a go to ramen shop nearby me!

I really like this place :) I've been twice and their stuff is really good. I think their Gyudon is by far the best thing I had on their menu but overall great addition to the neighborhood!

This place is legit!I totally recommend Kimen Ramen&Izakaya! I had mazemen & chicken karaage don. Mazemen was so flavorful, the noodle cooked just perfect and chicken karaage was so tender&delicious. The service was great and vibe was nice and cozy! I would love to comeback and try other menus soon :) Highly recommended

My family stopped by for dinner tonight after taekwondo next door. This is our second time visiting and our new favorite ramen spot. Highly recommend!

The atmosphere and the food were very good and staff/service are very friendly and fast.
