Very nice little store, has just about everything from home, it is a little overwhelming to search through the crowded shelves but the owner is very nice and helpful... ask if you are looking for something specific to save your time.

Tiny little disorganized shop that has a few things that you might need if you're a shisha smoker, or a middle eastern chef.Find canned goods and pre-made harissa, all the shisha tobacco and accessories you could need, and pakistani staples like frozen paratha. I didn't see any freshly butchered meat there. The prices are very cheap. The guy at the desk is friendly. Beware though - the store isn't very clean, looks disorganized, and haphazard. But totally worth it.

It is a bit disorganized and not the cleanest of places, but I only go for shisha and coals so it's not a huge problem for my purposes. Also, the owner was mopping the floor two out of the three times I've been here, so I do have peace of mind that the place doesn't go completely uncleaned. :-)The owner is always very friendly and happy to see me, perhaps because he seems amused by the Asian girl that drops in by herself at random hours for hookah supplies. It's not the most convenient of hikes at the moment because of the construction going on right in front of the store, but it's worth it for the lower prices that they offer compared to other shisha stores in the area.

I'm a bit baffled by the number of negative reviews for this store. They almost scared me off from checking it out, but I was looking for a Middle Eastern grocery somewhere near my apartment. Yes, the store could be organized better, but it's not particularly hard to find anything, and given the prices it's hard to complain. If you are expecting Whole Foods, then you'll be disappointed. However, if you're expecting a standard ethnic grocery, then you'll be perfectly happy with your visit.

I stopped into this store looking for Middle Eastern ingredients... rose water, labneh, dried lemons etc. It can be difficult to find these items in the DC area without heading out to Virginia. I must say that I was very disappointed when I walked into this little grocery store. I was expecting disorganized and a bit dusty but the place was practically empty and full of junk. A few shelves with rather ordinary supplies like chickpeas, coffee and a lot of music and hookah supplies. In addition, the fact that it claims to a halal grocery is a misnomer since there is no butcher at the store. I also wouldn't eat meat from there.Anyway, I obviously did not find any of the items for which I was looking. I guess I will be heading out to Virginia.I would definitely avoid this place unless you are looking for hookah tobacco (mu3sl), which is pretty easy to find in Adams Morgan.

Two solid stars for the great assortment and medley of canned goods, shisha, Turkish coffee & accessories, music, etc. Didn't see freshly butchered meat, but I'm sure that's done on request. Often a large family or familiar faces in here. As this is the best and most convenient halal store in DC (that I know of), this is often where I go to stock up on Turkish tea and coffee accessories and multiple varieties of shisha.Points off for the disorganization and dust - although I must admit, it was rather charming.

I love going into this little shop -- it feels like traveling, and you get to step into Morocco or Jordan for a few minutes to do your shopping. It's a family owned place, and the owner is always friendly. While the organization is a bit chaotic, the owner is always happy to help you track down what you need with a smile. They have all the middle eastern must-haves, from garam masala to tahini to zatar and many other fun items I can't wait to try cooking with. Don't walk in expecting a yuppie grocery experience -- you have to enjoy the authentic little spot for what it is.

To the reviewers who have wondered about the lack of visible fresh meat -- you have to ask! It's kept in a refrigerated room in the back. And it's definitely worth the ask! Had some wonderful lamb, custom cut to our specifications, and at a very good price. The shop is, indeed, a bit disorganized, but stocks wonderful things like Bulgarian feta (in massive tub-sized quantities) and as many types of dates and other dried fruits and nuts as you could want. Everything I bought was fresh and tasty.
