Inside this massive and oddly designed library, which is mostly two levels above the street, there is this little, windowed space closer to street level with a coffee shop inside. It's run by a local Ethiopian coffee place rather than being a generic cafe, which is nice.I am not a coffee drinker, but when I needed a stop during my travels, I was able to get a decent hot chocolate, a sweet and delicious banana nut muffin, and a lovely place to sit and get some wifi for a while.

This is a nice cafe I've visited multiple times whenever I need a cup of coffee or tea before I study in the library. I don't know much about coffee so I can't comment too much on the quality of their coffee. However, all the coffee is freshly ground as ordered. The prices are reasonable, much cheaper than going to Starbuck. I have also had their tea which had a nice presentation for sitting in. My favorite part about the cafe however is the wonderfully pleasant staff. You can tell they love their job. Extremely friendly, helpful, and make for great conversation. Also the library WiFi has great reception in the cafe and there's usually not an issue finding seating. There are even accessible outlets near the tables. Overall would recommend you stop by before getting your study grind on in the library.

If we're talking about coffee ONLY, I'd give Kefa five stars. Honestly some of the best coffee I've tasted, but let's be clear: I use coffee for it's most sensible utility...to wake me up and keep me up on days that struggle to know my own name. On my visit to Kefa, I surely was unprepared to tutor my bubbly college freshman and honestly felt like slapping her to calm down her electric nerves, but...coffee. There's something about pure rich coffee that wakes me up enough to focus, take a deep breath and help me get my thoughts in order to whip these kids into shape (note that I said pure and rich). After a brief run-in with whom I assumed was the manager, I felt very welcomed and appreciated when the kind lady offered me two kinds of the same coffee: regular and Au Lait both were really good. Kefa is conveniently located on the bottom floor of the local library. So it's a very reasonable quick stop for students and residents. I have it 4 stars because it's not very stocked on baked goods and other items like creamer and syrups come in limited capacity. Overall though, I would definitely recommend Kefa to all the true coffee heads.

There is a cute kiosk with some extra space in the behind. There is an impressive array of equipments, exclaiming the owner's speciality in making good coffee. I asked for a decent size chocolate muffin and pour over Sumatra coffee. They both were delightful. The muffin was small enough not to feel the any spike in my energy, making a good counterpart to complement the coffee. The coffee was well-rounds in the depth of the flavors, although the amount of acidity was living up to my preference. Regardless, I would definitely come back to sample more coffee and show my support for the local cafe. The space was small and the number of tables was small. It's good spot to stop and relax or to bring in a friend to catch up with. The view was open and excellent, bringing in the immense amount of natural light.

The coffee here is really good and tastes much better than the Starbucks in the area. The service is a little slow, but it is worth it because they take their time making a great drink for their customers and it shows.

Best coffee in Maryland and DC. I had a toasted croissant with turkey and cheese along with a latte. The sandwich was delicious. The coffee was rich and smooth. I had a cinnamon bun last time which was also good. The Ethiopian owners also provide a lovely atmosphere.
